Washington approves over $6.5 billion military sales to Tel Aviv

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking after visiting the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Revolution alongside members of the Cabinet on the eve of the Ten-Day Dawn commemorating the 47th anniversary of the Revolution, Pezeshkian said the nation has endured difficult weeks due to behavioral and governance failures, adding that officials themselves are “both part of the problem and the solution.”

He said many crises could have been avoided had officials aligned their conduct with the Imam’s recommendations and recognized the people as the pillars of society. “What should never have happened did happen,” he said, “because we failed to see the people.”

Referring to Imam Ali’s (AS) guidance to Malik al-Ashtar in Nahj al-Balagha, the President emphasized that rulers must prioritize justice, truth, and public satisfaction. “When the general public is dissatisfied, the approval of a small elite is meaningless,” he said, adding that elite groups often place the greatest burden on rulers while offering the least support in times of crisis.

Pezeshkian stressed that governance must be centered on service to the people, not authority over them. “People judge us by our behavior and our justice, not by slogans or speeches,” he said. “We have no right to ignore the rights of even a single human being.”

The President underlined the need for officials to change their behavior toward citizens, calling the people the true backbone of the nation. “If we wish to follow the path shown by Imam Ali and the late Imam regarding justice and people’s rights, we must stand with the people and treat them with compassion,” he said.

He added that anyone who seeks leadership must first reform themselves before instructing others. “Self-discipline must be demonstrated through action, not words,” he noted.

Pezeshkian said no society governed by justice can be brought to its knees. “We cannot claim adherence to religious values while acting unjustly,” he said. “If we act fairly, people will accept it, and no power can destabilize a nation built on justice and truth.”

He emphasized that justice must be applied without discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, language, race, or belief, warning that hostility toward any group must not lead to unjust behavior.

“Justice is not a matter of dispute,” he said. “It is established through clear standards. People see our actions, not our claims.”

Referring to remarks by Seyed Hassan Khomeini, Pezeshkian said the late Imam’s path was rooted in the people, not in violence or bloodshed. “Those who initiated armed struggle were not accepted by the Imam,” he said.

He added that the martyrs of the Revolution did not sacrifice their lives so that officials could dominate or mistreat the people. “They gave their lives so that justice and service to the people would prevail.”

Addressing recent unrest, the President said foreign actors, including the United States, Israel, and some European countries, sought to incite division and exploit domestic problems. He acknowledged that some innocent citizens were drawn into the unrest.

However, he distinguished between peaceful protest and violent actions. “In ordinary social protests, people do not take up arms, kill security forces, or burn ambulances and markets,” he said.

“We are duty-bound to hear the voices and concerns of protesters and to resolve their issues,” Pezeshkian stressed, adding that the government is prepared to do so. At the same time, he said enemies have attempted to exploit protests to fracture society.

Pezeshkian said the presence of the country’s leadership has neutralized hostile plots and will continue to do so, but emphasized that this does not absolve officials from reforming their behavior.

In closing, he said unity around justice and truth is essential, warning that efforts to establish fairness will face resistance from those who have benefited from corruption, rent-seeking, and privilege. “These groups will oppose reform,” he said, “but justice must prevail.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) Spokesperson of Yemen’s Armed Forces Yahya Saree has announced a successful missile strike on sensitive targets in Tel Aviv using the Palestine-2 ballistic missile.

This operation, conducted in support of the Palestinian people and in response to genocidal actions and the blockade of Gaza, reportedly caused mass panic, leading millions of Israeli settlers to seek shelter.

In a statement released on Saturday, Saree emphasized that the operation aimed to retaliate against the ongoing Israeli aggression not only against Gaza but also against Yemen itself. The hypersonic ballistic missile, equipped with multiple warheads, succeeded in hitting its targets, according to the spokesperson.

Saree reaffirmed that the cowardly attacks by the Israeli regime will not deter Yemen’s support for Palestine, insisting that such aggressions only strengthen Yemen’s resolve and resistance. He declared that military operations would persist until the Israeli attacks cease and the blockade on Gaza is lifted.

Hours before the announcement, the Israeli military reported missile fire from Yemen into occupied Palestinian territories. Following the missile launch, air raid sirens were activated in Tel Aviv, signaling a heightened state of alert.

In recent months, Yemen’s military has launched numerous missiles and drones towards the Israeli occupied land in response to the ongoing strikes in Gaza, committing to continue these operations against Israeli vessels in the Red Sea until the aggression stops.

TEHRAN (Iran News) “Rocketry Force carried out a high-profile military operation targeting the Nahal Sorek military base southeast of Jaffa,” the forces’ spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a statement on Monday, Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported.

Saree identified the missile deployed during the operation as a Palestine-2 projectile.

“The strike was accurate, resulting in a fire breaking out in the vicinity of the targeted location,” he added.

According to the spokesman, the operation came “in support of the oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon, and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistances, and as part of the fifth stage of [Yemen’s] escalation [against the Israeli regime].”

This is not the first time that the forces have fired the projectile towards the occupied territories.

The strike came amid the Israeli regime’s October 2023-present genocidal war and concomitant siege on the Gaza Strip and deadly escalation against Lebanon, which have respectively claimed the lives of more than 43,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and at least 3,136 Lebanese.

Besides conducting hundreds of such operations, the forces have been targeting Israeli ships as well as vessels heading towards or away from the territories as a means of piling up economic pressure on the regime.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces will continue their military operations, which will not cease until the aggression stops, the siege on Gaza is lifted, and the aggression against Lebanon ends,” Saree stated.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The incident occurred at a bus station in the Glilot area of northern Tel Aviv, where the military base houses key Israeli intelligence units, including Mossad and Israeli Intelligence Corps Unit 8200.

Local media reported that security forces shot and killed the driver, identified as Rami Nator from the village of Qalansawe in occupied territory.

“At least 50 soldiers were injured, with 15 in critical condition,” initial reports indicated.

Some sources confirmed that six soldiers were killed in the attack.

Israeli media described the truck attack as one of the most significant operations in recent years near a sensitive military intelligence installation.

The Resistance Committees praised the operation, calling it a “natural response to Israel’s crimes, terror, and killings in Palestine and Lebanon.”

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement also reacted, stating that “this heroic operation in a critical area of Tel Aviv reflects the growing anger and uprising among our people.”

The movement added that such attacks are “natural reactions to the genocidal crimes, massacres, and brutal aggressions against the Palestinian and Lebanese people.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) On Wednesday, the Lebanese resistance movement announced the bombing of the “TAA Military Industries Company” in the suburbs of Tel Aviv with missiles that “hit their targets accurately.”

It also launched an aerial attack with a squadron of attack drones on an Israeli military base in the city of Tira Carmel, 10.3 kilometers (6.4 miles) near the city of Haifa in the Haifa District, achieving a similar accurate hit.

Hezbollah rocket salvos, meanwhile, struck gatherings of Israeli forces in the illegal settlements of Misgav Am and Nahariyya.

Hezbollah has waged hundreds of retaliatory strikes against sensitive targets lying across the occupied territories and staged dozens of defensive operations against Israeli forces attempting to advance on southern Lebanese areas since last October when the regime escalated its deadly attacks against Lebanon.

Also on Wednesday, the movement confronted and clashed with an Israeli infantry force, which was trying to infiltrate the Lebanese territory from the eastern outskirts of the town of Aitaroun, targeting it with machineguns and rockets, forcing it to retreat behind the border, and causing “confirmed casualties.”

Hezbollah’s Air Defense Units confronted an Israeli warplane with a surface-to-air missile, forcing it to leave the Lebanese airspace.

So far during the October 2023-present defensive operations, the movement has killed more than 70 Israeli troops, destroyed 28 of the Israeli military’s Merkava tanks and four of its military bulldozers, and shot down three advanced Israeli Hermes 450 drones.

Amid the retaliation, the regime carried out as many as 17 airstrikes against the suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut, leveling six buildings.

The regime’s intensified aggression against Lebanon has seen it either attacking targets across the country without prior notice or issuing such notices minutes before launching its strikes.

At least 2,546 people, including 140 children and 270 women, have been killed and 11,862 others wounded in Lebanon as a result of the aggression so far.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –President Ebrahim Raisi strongly warns the apartheid Israeli regime against taking even the slightest action against the Islamic Republic, saying Iran will react to such a move with “destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv.”

Raisi made the remarks while addressing a parade to mark National Army Day in Tehran on Tuesday, when he said the Iranian Army’s capabilities are based on domestic know-how.

“The enemies, especially the Zionist regime (Israel), have received this message that the slightest move against the country will evoke a severe response from the armed forces and will be accompanied by the destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv,” he added.

He also said the message of Iran’s Army and Armed Forces to the US troops is that they must leave the region as soon as possible.

“The extra-regional and American forces should leave the region as soon as possible because it is in their own interest and in the interest of the region,” the Iranian president said.

“The presence of foreign forces threatens regional security but our armed forces provide security wherever they are present in the region,” he added.

He noted that the Iranian Armed Forces have resisted terrorists and improved security in the region, while foreign forces only pose a threat to the regional states.

The Iranian Armed Forces’ power is beneficial to the security of the region and “it is no secret to anyone that our armed forces have protected the territorial integrity and security of the countries in the region,” he said.

He reiterated that the presence of foreign troops, Americans in particular, would never protect the integrity of the Persian Gulf region.

He said the brave and heroic Iranian army has taken the lead from the armies of the regional countries in various fields of science and technology and everyone acknowledges this fact.

The Iranian chief executive said the country’s army has turned into a strong fortress against anti-revolutionary elements, Takfiri groups, and thugs, adding that it is in charge of safeguarding Iran’s borders and protecting national interests and security in the oceans.

Raisi, who also serves as head of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), emphasized that the National Army Day conveys the message of peace and friendship to regional countries.

He noted that Iran’s sky is among the most secure in the region, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army creates opportunities for the country from all threats and shortcomings.”

The Iranian chief executive also vowed to equip the Army with state-of-the-art technologies.

The National Army Day, which is celebrated annually on April 18, was established by the founder and first Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, in 1979.

Meanwhile during the parade, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army units unveiled a broad range of advanced gear such as homegrown missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, radar systems and air defense missile systems in a military parade marking the National Army Day.

Four divisions of the Iranian Army, namely the Ground Force, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Air Defense, held military parades in the presence of President Raisi in Tehran.

Among the major achievements put on display during the parade was Mohajer-6 drone, which is capable of carrying guided bombs and sophisticated surveillance equipment. It has already been used in combat by the Iranian Armed Forces.

Iran’s first wide-body unmanned combat aerial vehicle, Kaman 22, was also unveiled, along with Iranian suicide drones such as Arash, Kian and Karrar, which could be flown from both ground and offshore launchers.

Kaman 22 is said to have a range of approximately 3,000 kilometers (1,900 miles) and can carry 300 kilograms of explosives.

Qader (Capable) medium-range anti-ship cruise missile, laser-guided air-to-ground Sattar missile, Fakour-90 (Thoughtful-90) air-to-air missile, Qaem surface-to-air missile, and Shafagh precision-guided missile, which has a range of 20 kilometers, were displayed as well.

The Army’s air defense division unveiled several domestically-developed missile systems, including Damavand strategic and long-range system used for downing various aircraft as well as cruise and ballistic missiles, Nasser 40 navigation assistant radar system, Majid short-range and low-altitude air defense system, Nawab medium-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, Mersad mid-range air defense system, Khordad 15 surface-to-air missile system, and Talaash (Endeavor) long-range mobile surface-to-air missile system.

The Army also put on display Kian 600, Kian 700 and Kian 800 super heavy tank transporters, Zulfiqar and Tiam main battle tanks, Seraj artillery system which is equipped with a 35-millimeter cannon and uses both a radar and a new optical system to detect and destroy small flying objects, Matla’ al-Fajr VHF 3D radar, Kavosh precision approach radar, and 900-kilogram Qased (Messenger) smart bomb.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iran maintains that its military power poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – As the Israeli regime’s mercenaries are increasing pressure on the Palestinian worshippers who are on fast in the holy month of Ramadan, public opinion has risen against the usurpers of the holy Quds.

Diplomatic pressure is also mounting on the Israeli regime, as the Jordanian parliament issued an official appeal to the government on April 18 to expel the Israeli ambassador in Amman, in response to Tel Aviv’s attacks on Palestinian pilgrims at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to the state news agency Petra, the council agreed to present to the government a legislative memorandum signed by 87 legislators, which contained a demand for the Israeli ambassador to be expelled.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, stated that the government will summon the charge d’affaires of the Israeli embassy in Amman to protest the crimes at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

During the parliament session, Safadi stated that Amman would hold an Arab League committee meeting on Thursday to discuss the Israeli attacks.

The foreign minister also reiterated Jordan’s commitment to fight all attempts to change Jerusalem’s legal and historical status quo.

Following further attacks that left numerous Palestinians injured, King Abdullah called on Israel to “stop illegal and provocative acts” on Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday and requested increased international pressure.

He also stated that Israel must preserve the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and support the basic rights of the Palestinian people, and that Jordan will continue to prioritize the protection of Jerusalem and its holy places.

Under the protection of Israeli occupation troops, extreme Jewish settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque early on Sunday and aggressively attacked on defenseless Palestinian worshippers.

Israeli troops barred settlers from entering the area during the previous raid on the Islamic holy site on Friday. Some settlers brought animals to execute provocative ceremonial sacrifices, which Israeli authorities thought would elicit a military reaction from the Palestinian resistance.

Meanwhile, according to a UN official who spoke to the media on the condition of anonymity, the UN Security Council was scheduled to hold an emergency closed-door session on Tuesday to discuss recent aggressions of the Israelis in al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The meeting comes as the Israeli aggressions in the region have risen, with three days of severe skirmishes on the Temple Mount between Palestinian fighters and Israeli police stoking worries of a larger conflagration.

France, China, Ireland, Norway, and the United Arab Emirates requested the Security Council meeting, according to the UN official.

According to the UN diplomat, neither the Israeli nor Palestinian envoys will be called to the conference, nor would a draft resolution on the situation be debated or submitted.

Israel’s tactics on the Temple Mount to suppress the Palestinians, including police entering the mosque, arresting hundreds, and using tear gas and rubber bullets, have been condemned internationally, even by so-called allies Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, whose leaders spoke by phone Monday.

“The UAE strongly condemned today Israeli forces’ storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which resulted in the injury of a number of civilians,” the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday, adding that it “underscored the need for self-restraint and protection for worshippers.”

According to official media in Amman, Jordan’s King discussed “regional and international measures to stop the hazardous Israeli escalation” with the leaders of the UAE, Egypt, and other Arab governments, as well as UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and European Council president Charles Michel.

However, in a video statement released Monday evening, the Israeli regime’s Prime Minister Naftali Bennett raged that Israel was being blamed for the violence perpetrated against it!

“There are those who are encouraging rock-throwing and the use of violence against the citizens of the State of Israel,” he said, adding, “This is a reward for the inciters, especially Hamas, which are trying to ignite violence in Jerusalem.”

“We expect everyone not to join the lies and certainly not to encourage violence against Jews,” Bennett, who thinks everyone is as foolish as him, said.

On Friday, hundreds of Israeli armed troops stormed Al Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds, and attacked worshippers with stun grenades, tear gas, and rubber and metal bullets.

The outbreak of violence began when Israeli forces broke into the holy mosque of Al Aqsa and started firing on the worshippers, which resulted in more than 150 injuries among them. The Palestinian Red Crescent in al-Quds reported that its teams dealt with 153 injuries in the confrontations that took place inside the courtyards of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian organization said a number of attacks on its crews were recorded, including impeding access to the injured, direct attacks on them, and attacking ambulances.

This has caused the Muslims around the world to hold this year’s Quds Day ceremony in the noblest way.

According to media reports, massive preparations are being made in Beirut for International Quds Day. Also, reports indicate that some Palestinian leaders are going to visit Lebanon and undertake consultative meetings to coordinate the Quds Day rallies, as reported by the Lebanese paper Rai Al-Youm.

“International Al-Quds Day commemoration activities, which coincide with the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan every year, had been lowered by October 17, 2019 in Lebanon due to the coronavirus outbreak and the political and social conditions in which the country was struggling with,” the newspaper said.

“However, this year’s preparations appear to be different, with all Lebanese and Palestinian national forces mobilized to turn this day into an opportunity to increase public presence and achieve the greatest solidarity with the Palestinian people, al-Quds, and the guardians of the Holy Shrine,” the paper wrote.

This Ramadan, the whole world expects a different Quds Day, as the violent aggressions of the Zionists have increased.

The rise of Palestinian popular resistance in the West Bank is another factor that would make this year’s festivities special.

According to a well-informed source, Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah called for extensive public participation this year in commemorating Quds Day and planned a large-scale popular festival on the southern outskirts of Beirut on the last Friday of Ramadan. He will also give a speech about the situation in occupied Palestine, the source added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Movement has delivered a speech marking the 15th anniversary of the victory against the Israeli regime’s 33-day war on Lebanon that began in July 2006.

More commonly referred to in Lebanon and the wider region as the July war, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah touched on effects of the victory against Israel after 15 years.
Nasrallah says the most important responsibility of all Lebanese is preserving the results and victory of the war. “The victory did not come through negotiations” he said “but through human sacrifices, patience and steadfastness.”

He stressed the importance of how this changed the equations and status quo against Israel as was witnessed most recently by the Palestinians’ 11-day battle against the regime in an operation dubbed sword of al-Quds.

When it comes to Lebanon, Nasrallah said the most important strategic and historical achievement was that the war maintained 15 years of security in the country.

For decades, Israeli warplanes used all of Lebanon as a playground to launch airstrikes as Israeli leaders pleased. Lebanese infrastructure, residential areas and institutions were struck, he said, “nothing was spared”.

With the exception of one incident in 2014, on the Lebanese-Syrian border, that left no material damage or fatalities (and prompted a quick response); since the 2006 war Lebanese citizens have enjoyed “security from Israeli warplanes”, attacks or any other forms of aggression.

The bigger question, Nasrallah said, that all Lebanese should ask themselves is; why has there been no Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon over the past 15 years since the July war ended?

Is Israel afraid from the UN Security Council, the Arab league, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or public opinion? Is this down to Israeli ethics, faith or is the regime sticking to international rules and laws?

Of course not, even our children know this; Nasrallah quipped.

What has prevented Israel from launching airstrikes on Lebanon over the past 15 years, is in basic terms, Israel’s hesitance and fear of entering into another battle with the Lebanese resistance.

Nasrallah goes on to ask who prevented this “imperialist barbaric, immoral, inhumane enemy” protected by the United States, other global powers and “unfortunately some Arab nations?” Addressing all Lebanese, he said there is only one answer; referring to the movement itself.

Nasrallah says the regime is aware what the resistance can inflict “inside Israel, its vital infrastructure, its army” who showed its “failure” in the July war.

The Hezbollah leader went a step further saying Israel is afraid about its existence, should it wage another war on Lebanon. He put the deterrence down to the rise of Lebanese and regional resistance against Israel.

For this reason, Nasrallah highlighted, how the biggest Israeli concern since 2006, l is Hezbollah’s weapons. He says Tel Aviv has exhausted every single option at its disposal, no matter how far-fetched that option is, to disarm Lebanon from Hezbollah’s weapons.

Weapons that Nasrallah says safeguard the territorial integrity of the country. And an issue that Israel wants to go back to the era of pre-2006 and pre-2000 (Israel’s forced withdrawal from Lebanon).

Despite this, he says from 2006 until today, by Israel’s own admission, Hezbollah possesses more weapons, more experience, higher quality of training as well as expanding the scope and variety of its missiles including the expansion of high precision missiles.

The latter of which Nasrallah noted that Benny Gantz (Israel’s minister of war) himself said bluntly, the threat of Hezbollah’s precision guided missiles, is a game changer and poses a threat to Israel’s survival.

The Hezbollah leader also added that some Israel airstrikes in Syria are to help terror groups there, some are to halt efforts by forces fighting terror troops and some are aimed at military capabilities that reach the resistance movement in Lebanon.

Sayyed Nasrallah says Israel has failed on all three fronts and that all Israeli airstrikes in Syria have not changed anything.

He acknowledged the loss of human lives and material damage.

However, when it comes to the goals of the airstrikes; they have been a failure.

Syrian government force and its allies have defeated terrorists and the flow of “missiles to Hezbollah have not been affected”.

At the same time, Nasrallah noted that Israel is testing the waters to prop up some credibility.

This he says, is what happened over the past few days.

One incident led to another, Israel started shelling, this was met with quiet, the regime then launched three airstrikes at midnight on open fields with a view to then launching airstrikes on perhaps a building and slowly seeing how far it can go.

For this reason, Nasrallah said what happened is a dangerous development, the type of which Lebanon had not seen over the last 15 years.

The Hezbollah Chief said, some in individuals in charge, living in palaces, did not feel the airstrikes.

However, the residents that live near these open fields were terrified in the middle of the night, which Nasrallah said was the aim of the airstrikes, to terrorize the locals in the south.

Nasrallah says Israel had the impression that this will pass without a response, considering Lebanon’s multiple domestic crises.

He said Israel used the opportunity to try and rebalance the equations that Hezbollah had imposed 15 years ago.

Nasrallah says it was time to make a decision on how to respond.

Here, Nasrallah spoke very openly.

He said Hezbollah has two types of retaliation.

One can take weeks, months or even longer.

For example, following the death of a Hezbollah member in Syria. The resistance movement made preparations to kill an Israeli soldier.

Israel, anticipating Hezbollah’s response, deployed a heavy contingent of forces to the Lebanese border, about a mile wide, and kept them there for two months. They were heavily protected.

Nasrallah says the opportunity to make a successful operation did not arise. “We don’t just fire a rocket for the sake of firing a rocket” he noted.

The revenge will therefore come at a later time and place of Hezbollah’s choosing.

Citing another case of a Hezbollah member that Israel killed before in Syria, Nasrallah said a late response would have been worthless and valueless; that’s why Hezbollah reacted immediately.

He says this is also why Hezbollah responded quickly to the Israeli airstrikes with a barrage of rockets.

Nasrallah says both the enemy and the friends say Hezbollah’s response to the Israeli airstrikes was a calculated one.

Israel declared that it struck open fields and it did indeed strike open fields with no casualties or material damage.

“We also struck open fields in the occupied Shebaa Farms with no casualties or material damage.”

In a message to Israel “so the enemy knows. we have options” to escalate appropriately.

“There are open fields in Northern occupied Palestine.”

“There are open fields in the occupied Golan Heights… which we will of course fire from Lebanon not Syria.”

This is “a step in a series of steps that we can take” and “we immediately claimed responsibility in an open statement.”

Nasrallah said this was not a “secret, hidden response.” This was a “message”.

Nasrallah says the aim of the retaliatory attacks was to reimpose the 15-year status quo and the movement has no intention of changing the equations on the ground.

Nasrallah warned Israel any future airstrike in any area in Lebanon will be met with the appropriate response.

He advised Israel to examine the issue before undertaking any military adventurism; saying Hezbollah’s goal is to protect Lebanon and that this mission will be conducted no matter what circumstances the country is going through domestically.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – IAEA confirms Iran has started 60-percent uranium enrichment : The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified that Iran has started enriching uranium up to 60-percent purity level, a measure the Islamic Republic had promised to take following an Israeli act of nuclear terrorism against it.

The United Nations nuclear watchdog verified the development on Saturday, and Director-General Rafael Grossi relayed the confirmation in a notification addressed to the agency’s Board of Governors.

“Grossi said the Agency today verified that Iran had begun the production of UF6 (uranium hexafluoride) enriched up to 60% U-235 (the main fissile isotope of uranium),” an IAEA spokesman said.

The process got underway, the official said “by feeding UF6 enriched up to 5% U-235 simultaneously into two cascades of IR-4 centrifuges and IR-6 centrifuges” at Natanz Nuclear Facility in the central Iranian province of Isfahan.

The Islamic Republic had announced that it sought to take the measure after an Israeli act of sabotage cut the power across the installation on Sunday. According to officials, the terror act did not lead to any casualties, damages or complications.

Last year too, the facility came under another terrorist move to blow up parts of the installation in an attack that Tel Aviv has been suspected of orchestrating.

Tel Aviv has also assassinated as many as seven Iranian nuclear scientists in the past. International organizations, including the UN and the IAEA, however, never take the regime to task either over the brazen atrocities or the regime’s own military nuclear program, which is the only one in the Middle East.

Protection by the United States, the regime’s biggest and oldest ally, has been blamed for Tel Aviv’s constant exoneration.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s ambassador to international organizations in Vienna, said Iran had told the agency that the uranium hexafluoride that has been produced by the country through the process enjoys a 55.3-percent purity level.

According to the IAEA spokesperson, the agency took a sample of the produced UF6 to independently verify the enrichment level declared by Iran.

After the Israeli operation targeted the Natanz-based site, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, “If the Zionists plotted against our nation, we would respond,” calling the decision towards 60-percent enrichment “the first such [retaliatory] step.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Gharibabadi made the remarks addressing a Friday night session of the IAEA Board of Governors. While Iran has remained committed to maintaining a peaceful nuclear program, an Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated by an Israeli terrorist attack, the ambassador said.

He called on the agency and all the member states to fulfill their obligations under the international law concerning the fight against terrorism and condemn such an act of aggression in the strongest possible terms.

Gharibabadi reiterated that Iran will not let such a crime go unanswered.

The IAEA Board of Governors convened for a regular meeting on March 1-5.

Previously, Gharibabadi made the comment while elaborating on the actions taken to stop the adoption of the anti-Iran resolution by the three European countries.
