Tehran Ready for Fair Nuclear Talks

TEHRAN (Iran News) He clarified that, contrary to some reports, Iran has not submitted any formal written response to U.S. demands. Instead, discussions remain ongoing and are focused on exchanging views. According to Larijani, regional countries support reaching a political solution to the nuclear issue and encourage dialogue over confrontation.

“Iran evaluates negotiations positively, but only if they are fair, reasonable, and do not endanger our national security,” Larijani said. He stressed that any negotiation must remain within the nuclear framework and not be used to pressure Tehran on unrelated issues.

Larijani reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. He argued that calls for “zero enrichment” are unrealistic, pointing out that Iran’s nuclear knowledge cannot be erased politically and that the country has legitimate medical and research needs.

He cited the Tehran research reactor as a case in point, which requires 20 percent enriched uranium to produce radiopharmaceuticals for cancer patients. “The Agency can inspect this reactor,” Larijani said. “There is nothing secret here. These processes should not be politicized or presented as mysterious; they are transparent and verifiable by international oversight.”

He added that enrichment is essential for legitimate purposes, highlighting that eliminating uranium enrichment entirely would make no technical sense.

Addressing regional security, Larijani stated that Iran’s missile program was not discussed in recent negotiations but remains an essential element of the country’s national defense. “Defensive deterrence is non-negotiable,” he said.

He also warned that Israel’s actions in the region aim to provoke conflict and claimed that targeted assassinations of Iranian commanders and scientists had failed to weaken Tehran’s military capabilities. “Israel assassinated some of our leaders, but our missile systems remain fully operational. Attacks, no matter how intense, cannot eliminate ideology or dismantle our strategic structures,” Larijani asserted.

Larijani stressed the strength and resilience of Iran’s regional allies. He stated that Lebanon’s Hezbollah has restored its capabilities and possesses significant capacity to counter Israel. On Gaza, he highlighted that despite Israel’s extensive bombardment, Hamas continues to govern the territory effectively. He noted that prolonged attacks have failed to dismantle the organization, emphasizing that the resilience and operational capacity of these groups remain intact.

Regarding broader conflict, Larijani downplayed the likelihood of a major regional war. He said past experiences indicate that escalations rarely benefit aggressors and argued that Iran is fully prepared for any scenario without seeking to ignite conflict. “Iran is not pursuing war, but we will not succumb to threats,” he said. “Our strategy combines negotiation with credible deterrence. Recent confrontations only strengthened the axis of resistance, allowing us to reorganize and consolidate rather than weaken.”

Larijani praised the mediation efforts of Qatar and emphasized that consultations with Doha reflect a shared commitment to preventing escalation. He highlighted the importance of expanding trade ties and regional cooperation with Qatar and Oman, including in economic matters, regional diplomacy, and broader international issues.

On the international stage, Larijani reaffirmed Iran’s cooperation with China and Russia, describing it as mutually beneficial. He noted that support from these countries in the United Nations Security Council reflects a political partnership and added that Tehran’s pivot toward the East resulted from what he described as breaches of commitment by Western powers following the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Larijani stressed that future talks with the United States should focus exclusively on the nuclear file. He rejected including Iran’s missile program or other security matters in negotiations, describing such issues as integral to national security and non-negotiable. “If the U.S. wants assurance that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons, we fully agree. This establishes a reasonable and shared basis for discussion,” he said.

He reiterated Iran’s commitment to transparency and compliance with IAEA inspections, highlighting that nuclear activities are conducted under full international oversight. “The production of nuclear technology cannot be hidden; it is subject to inspection, and we accept this monitoring,” Larijani said.

Larijani concluded by reiterating that Iran is prepared for all potential scenarios. He emphasized that the country seeks stability and negotiation rather than conflict but will continue to maintain credible deterrence to safeguard its security. “The axis of resistance has proven its resilience against shocks, assassinations, and attacks. Recent confrontations did not weaken our position; they strengthened our organization and preparedness,” he said.

Overall, Larijani presented Tehran as committed to constructive nuclear dialogue, emphasizing fairness, reasonableness, and security, while underscoring Iran’s resilience, regional partnerships, and readiness to respond to any contingency without pursuing unnecessary conflict.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking to Iranian state TV, the spokesperson said Fidan will meet his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials during the visit.

“The trip of Mr. Hakan Fidan to Iran is a continuation of the consultations that our Foreign Ministry regularly holds with neighboring countries,” Baqaei said, adding that Tehran–Ankara relations as well as regional and international issues will be discussed.

According to Baqaei, the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza and the regime’s military crackdown in the occupied West Bank, along with its attacks on Lebanon, Syria, and other regional countries, will be a main topic of discussion.

“These measures by the Zionist regime constitute the biggest threat to international peace and security, and all regional countries are concerned about them,” he said.

Tehran and Baku Strengthen Frequency, Space, and Infrastructure Cooperation

TEHRAN (Iran News) On the sidelines of the 2025 World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Baku, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology met with Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport. The two officials discussed infrastructure collaboration, frequency coordination, expansion of space-related cooperation, cybersecurity, and strengthening data transit routes between the two countries.

During the meeting, Seyyed Sattar Hashemi expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s “excellent” hosting of the ITU summit, noting that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have been growing in recent months, particularly following the Iranian president’s visit to Baku.

Hashemi underscored the president’s continued efforts to enhance bilateral relations, stating: “Iran and Azerbaijan are two long-standing friendly nations with inseparable ties, and digital and infrastructure cooperation represents a key component of their strategic interests.”

Hashemi stressed that one of the main areas of collaboration is frequency provisioning and signal management in border regions—an issue that has faced challenges for years.

He noted that regular and continuous meetings between the two sides, along with the appointment of a special representative to monitor the issue, have led to the finalization of important agreements and have opened the path for regulatory cooperation.

The minister also highlighted joint work on satellite communications as another significant area of partnership, adding that the alignment of Tehran and Baku’s technical approaches can support closer cooperation in space-based services and spectrum management.

Pointing to complementary capacities in digital governance, telecommunications networks, and joint IT projects, Hashemi said that Iran is fully prepared to expand cooperation in satellite programs, infrastructure, data transit, and cybersecurity.

He emphasized that establishing stable and strategic data transit routes—along both the North–South and East–West corridors—is in the interests of both countries and that Tehran welcomes deeper cooperation in this area.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Minister Rashad Nabiyev expressed appreciation for Iran’s role in regional cooperation and welcomed the drafting of a joint memorandum of understanding in the field of information and communication technologies. He said the document could be signed during the next meeting of the two presidents.

Nabiyev also announced Azerbaijan’s readiness to cooperate in the development of remote-sensing satellites, cybersecurity, and joint space projects. He noted that purchasing satellite imagery and collaborating on space-based business ventures are among Baku’s key areas of interest.

Referring to infrastructure cooperation with the Delta company and the role of both countries in regional transit corridors, he emphasized the importance of establishing joint data corridors. He proposed creating an ICT expert committee and holding B2B meetings to identify new opportunities and partnerships between Iranian and Azerbaijani companies.

Nabiyev also suggested exchanging the draft ICT memorandum of understanding so it can be finalized and signed during his upcoming visit to Tehran for the 2026 Caspian Communications Ministers Summit.

One of the most important goals of this event is to establish lasting connections among researchers and pave the ground for launching a permanent secretariat for an international forum for Iranologists.

Tehran, Tokyo Expand Trade Cooperation With Focus on Health and Food Industries

TEHRAN (Iran News) At the meeting held in Tehran, Hassanzadeh emphasized that despite the limitations imposed by international sanctions, Iran and Japan can still maintain and expand cooperation in areas unaffected by restrictions. “Japan has remarkable experience and advanced technologies in health and environmental sustainability,” he noted, suggesting collaboration in pharmaceuticals, hospital construction, and the food industry.

He added that ICCIMA has conducted detailed research on potential areas for bilateral expansion and is ready to deepen relations in these sectors.

The ICCIMA president also highlighted the potential for joint investment and export partnerships in food industries, aquaculture, and agricultural products, noting Iran’s expertise as a major producer of traditional Persian carpets. “Iranian handmade carpets, woven with fine wool, silk, and natural dyes, are world-renowned for their quality and durability,” he said. “Unfortunately, countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and India have been marketing imitation Persian carpets, but they lack the authenticity of Iranian craftsmanship. We are eager to cooperate with Japan in this industry.”

Hassanzadeh drew attention to Iranians’ long-standing trust in Japanese automotive technology, proposing joint ventures for the local production of auto parts. “Many of the so-called Japanese car parts in Iran are currently imported from other countries,” he remarked. “We can collaborate directly with Japan to ensure authenticity and quality.”

He also discussed Iran’s agricultural progress, especially in greenhouse farming, and pointed out that Iran needs advanced Japanese technology in both agriculture and medical equipment. “Iranian consumers have a strong confidence in Japanese-made products,” Hassanzadeh said.

Finally, he invited Japanese companies to participate in Iran’s planned Arvand River dredging project in Khuzestan Province, a waterway shared by Iran and Iraq, to improve navigation and trade logistics.

Ambassador Tsukada Tamaki welcomed these initiatives, calling the meeting “a positive sign” despite global political tensions. He noted recent political shifts in Tokyo, including changes in Japan’s prime minister and ministers of foreign affairs and economy, and said these leaders have a deeper understanding of Iran and the Middle East.

“Japan is interested in working with Iran in non-sanctioned sectors such as technology and human resources,” the ambassador stated. He acknowledged Iran’s regional leadership in nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and human resource training, adding that Japan values these strengths.

Tamaki also extended an invitation for Iranian engineers and technology experts to work in Japan, noting the country’s need for skilled professionals in emerging tech industries. “We want to solve people’s problems through innovation rather than taxation,” he explained. “There are strong opportunities for Iranian engineers to contribute in Japan.”

Hossein Salahvarzi, President of the Iran-Japan Joint Chamber of Commerce, presented a report on the Iranian delegation’s recent visit to Expo Osaka, where Iranian representatives held meetings with several Japanese companies and associations.

Salahvarzi emphasized the positive image of Japan among Iranians and the chamber’s determination to focus on innovative sectors despite sanctions. “We aim to use Japan’s expertise in energy efficiency, clean energy, and sustainable development,” he said. “In healthcare, Japan’s medical equipment is highly advanced, while Iran’s pharmaceutical industry is strong. We propose a joint hospital project, particularly for children or patients with special medical needs.”

In another part of the meeting, Yamada, a representative of Marubeni Corporation, one of Japan’s oldest trading companies, discussed redefining the commercial framework for bilateral cooperation. Marubeni, which established its Iran branch 70 years ago and has operated in oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, now seeks to design a new model for modern trade relations.

Yamada stressed the need for innovation in agricultural logistics and food production, highlighting the aging farmer population in Iran—where the average age is around 50—as a challenge to productivity and market competitiveness. He suggested Iran and Japan work together on agricultural logistics and youth engagement.

The Japanese representative also pointed out that Japan faces a shortage of engineers, while Iran has a large pool of skilled professionals—making mutual collaboration in information technology and engineering highly feasible.

Yamada further proposed the establishment of a joint Iran-Japan certification center for Persian carpets to verify authenticity, as counterfeit carpets continue to flood international markets under the label of “Persian rugs.”

Bahram Shakouri, Vice President of the Iran-Japan Joint Chamber and a mining entrepreneur, described the relationship between the two nations as “family-like and unbreakable.” He proposed creating an innovation center within ICCIMA for cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital marketing, to train Iranian managers in AI-driven commerce.

Highlighting Iran’s rich mineral reserves—ranking fifth globally—Shakouri mentioned significant resources of copper, gold, lithium, and decorative stones. “Nearly all mining machinery in Iran comes from Japanese brands and has an average lifespan of 20 years,” he explained. “We propose to renovate and repair 15,000 mining machines using original Japanese parts.”

He also emphasized the global shift toward environmental sustainability and carbon reduction, suggesting collaboration on green technologies. “Japan’s achievements in reducing carbon emissions can be adapted for Iran,” he said. “Such cooperation is not subject to sanctions and supports both environmental protection and technological advancement.”

Caspian Nations Hold Private-Sector Trade Talks in Tehran

TEHRAN (Iran News) The two-day summit, hosted by the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) at the Espinas Persian Gulf Hotel, brought together business leaders and officials from Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, alongside ambassadors, provincial authorities, and members of Iran’s parliament.

Participants emphasized the need to leverage the Caspian Sea’s strategic potential to expand economic cooperation, establish joint programs and specialized secretariats, design regional projects, and create shared digital platforms to connect investors and entrepreneurs across the region.

Opening the session, Hadi Tizhosh-Taban, head of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce, described the Caspian Sea as a vital strategic corridor linking Asia and Europe. He noted that the Council—founded more than three decades ago—has been instrumental in promoting both regional and interregional trade relations.

“This meeting offers a golden opportunity to share business experiences and foster collaboration in investment, technology exchange, and creating a transparent environment for secure investments,” he said.

Mahmoud Najafi-Arab, president of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, said the presence of Caspian countries’ delegations demonstrates “a shared determination to deepen economic cooperation and belief in a brighter future built on dialogue and mutual benefit.”

Najafi-Arab highlighted the Caspian basin as a historic crossroads of civilizations and trade, now regaining strategic significance amid shifting global energy and transit routes. He pointed to projects such as the International North–South Transport Corridor, joint energy and petrochemical ventures, and expanding cooperation in transportation, agriculture, technology, and tourism as “unprecedented opportunities for regional growth.”

He also underlined persistent challenges — including banking and currency restrictions, poor transport infrastructure, inconsistent customs regulations, and fragmented trade policies — that have hindered regional integration. “We must move from dialogue to implementation,” he urged, calling for pragmatic and forward-looking approaches.

Najafi-Arab proposed forming sectoral working groups on logistics, energy, agriculture, innovation, and tourism, alongside developing digital investment platforms to promote transparency and attract cross-border capital. He said the Council should evolve from a symbolic forum into a results-driven, institutional mechanism capable of facilitating trade and joint ventures.

Dmitry Kurochkin, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, stressed that Caspian nations play a unique role in regional transport and logistics, citing the North–South Corridor as a route that could “fuel economic growth for the region and beyond.”

He said the Russian Chamber encourages companies to engage more actively with Iran, particularly following Iran’s accession to BRICS, which he described as a catalyst for deepening bilateral economic ties.

Leonid Lozhenko, head of the Russia–Iran Business Council, echoed this view, announcing strategies to enhance cooperation in medical industries, cybersecurity, and high-tech sectors, as well as to expand trade in grains, timber, chemicals, and metals. He added that 80 percent of transactions are now conducted in rials and rubles, facilitated by Mir Business Bank, though financial transfers remain a major challenge.

Hadi Hejazi, governor of Gilan province, highlighted the underutilized logistical potential of the Caspian Sea, noting that only 25 percent of the total port capacity across the five nations is currently in use. He said that Iran and Russia alone could handle up to one billion tons of trade annually, rising to 1.5 billion tons when all littoral states are included.

Hejazi emphasized the urgency of completing the Rasht–Astara railway, a key link in the North–South Corridor, which is now more than one-third cleared and expected to be fully operational by year’s end.

Stanislav Sinchenko, head of the Astrakhan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reported that trade between Astrakhan and Iran rose 50 percent in 2024, mainly involving grain exports and imports of ceramics and construction materials. More than 70 Iranian companies are now registered in the Astrakhan region, he said.

Begench Arazov, board member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, said his country is moving rapidly toward a liberalized economy with a greater private-sector role. He invited Caspian and neighboring investors, particularly from Iran, to participate in Turkmenistan’s evolving markets.

Finally, Abdollah Mohajer Darabi of Iran’s national chamber called for a review of past Council outcomes and progress reports from its secretariat, stressing that the combined trade volume of the five member nations represents “an exceptional opportunity” for private-sector partnerships.

The meeting concluded with a series of bilateral and multilateral business talks, paving the way for deeper commercial collaboration across the Caspian region.

Tehran condemns Trump’s ‘baseless’ anti-Iran remarks at Israeli Knesset

TEHRAN (Iran News) Iran’s foreign ministry has condemned “baseless accusations and irresponsible and shameful claims” by US President Donald Trump, made on Monday in the Israeli Knesset.

“The United States, as the largest producer of terrorism in the world and the supporter of the terrorist and genocidal Zionist regime, has no moral standing to accuse others,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement paid tribute to the late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the former head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds force, and slammed Washington’s assassination of the top anti-terror commander.

“The people of Iran, while paying deep respect to the eternal hero of Iran and the region, martyr Haj Qassem Soleimani, who played an unparalleled role in confronting US-made Daesh terrorism, will never forgive or forget the brutal crime of the United States in assassinating that great man and his companions,” it said.

The ministry rejected allegations about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and warned they could not justify joint crimes by the US and Israel, saying that confessing to aggression “only increases America’s responsibility for these crimes and shows the depth of American policymakers’ hostility towards the great people of Iran.”

In his speech, Trump further alleged that the US wants “to ensure that Iran never, and I mean never, acquires a nuclear weapon.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also condemned Washington over its complicity in “the genocide and warmongering of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine” and called for the US to be held accountable for shielding Israel at the UN Security Council and blocking international judicial measures.

The statement blamed US interventionist policies, support for occupation and arms sales for turning America into “the greatest source of instability and insecurity in the region.”

It added, “Relying on their rich historical heritage, Iranians are people of reason, dialogue, and interaction, and they act with courage and decisiveness to defend Iran’s independence, national dignity and interests.”
