TEHRAN (Iran News) Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, has announced that more than 90% of the construction projects for the victims of the “12-day war” have been completed.

On the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zakani said that the majority of the housing projects for the victims of the imposed war have finished, with more than 92% of all projects completed.

He noted that more than 5,000 buildings have been prepared in the minor construction sector, which is now 100% complete.

Additionally, the mayor highlighted the progress in reinforcement and renovation projects, noting that over 80% of the reinforcement work for damaged buildings has started. In the demolition and renovation sector, more than 70% of the projects are currently underway, he added.

Earlier on August 28, First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref stressed the urgent need to expedite the reconstruction of homes damaged during the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime, emphasizing that compensation for losses in production and industrial units is also vital.

]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ambassadors from European countries to Tehran rode bicycles in the streets of the capital with Tehran Mayor Pirooz Hanachi on the occasion of World Peace Day and World Car Free Day.

Hanachi and the ambassadors of France, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Germany rode bicycles on the route from Laleh Park to Shahr Park.

After riding, they visited Tehran Peace Museum to honor the International Day of Peace on September 21.

World Car Free Day, which is celebrated on September 22, encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day.

On Tuesdays, Tehran mayor sometimes goes to work not by car but instead using a bicycle or public transportation.

]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Mayors of Tehran and Ankara, Pirooz Hanachi and Mansur Yavas, in a video call, exchanged views and experiences of their cities in the fight against the lethal coronavirus.

During the conversation, Hanachi expressed gratitude for Turkey’s humanitarian aid to Iran amid the coronavirus outbreak.

He also referred to the challenges that Tehran is faced within the fight against the virus under the cruel US sanctions, urging the issue to be discussed in the upcoming World Cities Summit.

Turkey sent a consignment to assist Iran with its fight against COVID-19 on March 30. The consignment weighs around 10 tons of medical equipment, including medicines, masks, insulated clothing, gloves, goggles, and forehead thermometers, hygienic and disinfectant products.

As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Iran has reached 62,589, while 27,039 have recovered from the disease, according to the Health Ministry.
