TEHRAN (Iran News) –Medicines, vaccines, agricultural products, environmental products, medical equipment, information technology, and telecommunications are the fields of cooperation between Iran and Venezuela.

Recently, the technological ties have been strengthened between the two countries, Rouhollah Stiri, director of the international business development office of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, said.

Earlier this month, a delegation from Iran visited Caracas and introduced the achievements of various knowledge-based fields to the Venezuelan investors, he explained, IRIB reported.

Venezuela is a relatively wealthy country whose high inflation rate has been well-controlled in recent years. The trade relations with Iran can be done through the exchange of goods, he said.

Medicines, vaccines, agricultural products, environmental products, medical equipment, information technology, and telecommunications are the fields of cooperation between Iran and Venezuela, according to Stiri.

In September, more than 82 knowledge-based firms attended an exhibition in Caracas with the aim of exchanging experiences and holding meetings.

Some 200 companies attended this event and 60 cooperation contracts were signed. We tried to provide a field for interaction and synergy between companies, she said.

Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela, said in September that today, Iran is an exemplary country and a country of progress, production, knowledge, and production of products.

Knowledge-based ecosystem

Over the past year, in order to realize a resilient and knowledge-based economy, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology has implemented a series of activities to further develop the ecosystem of innovation and technology in the country.

The Vice Presidency for Science and Technology was founded in 2006 as one of the sub-sets of the government with the slogan of moving from an oil-based economy to a knowledge-based one, aiming at increasing technological capabilities and innovation in order to generate wealth from the knowledge and improve people’s quality of life.

So, over 7,000 knowledge-based and 1,600 creative companies have so far been registered and started operations.

The fields of biotechnology, agriculture, food industries, chemical technologies aircraft maintenance, steel, gas, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and medicine, oil, electronics and telecommunications, information technology, and computer software are among the sectors that researchers in technology companies are working in.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Director General of American Bureau of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran says Iran has reached agreement with Venezuela for exporting over 100,000 cars to Venezuela in five years.

Speaking to ILNA, Zahra Abeiri said that Tehran and Caracas have signed an agreement for export of 100,000 cars to Venezuela in five years, and in recent days, 1000 cars have been exported to Venezuela and Tehran is planning for sending 2,000 more cars. He added that the 1000-car batch was exported to Venezuela after receiving major part of money for the cars.

She then touched upon the latest details of trade between Iran and Venezuela and said that bilateral cooperation is in the fields of energy, scientific and technology, health and medicines, education, agriculture, tourism, petrochemical and industries.

Abeiri then pointed to the agreements between the two countries for improving electricity system in Venezuela, adding that dispatch of medicines especially in medical treatment of cancer, exchange of scientific co-operations, investment of over 40 Iranian companies in Venezuela, approval of protocols which are aimed at advancing the process for exchange of products with animal and plant roots, are of other fields of cooperation between the two states.

She went on to say that in the 20-year document which was signed between Iran and Venezuela during President Nicolas Maduro visit to Tehran in June, both sides drew up bilateral co-operations for the next two years. She stated that both oil-rich countries are under the U.S. sanctions and both are also the OPEC members and can have effective cooperation for making ineffective the sanctions, adding that Venezuela with over 33m hectares of cultivable land and abundant water resources have problems in agriculture.

Abeiri then pointed to the hurdles in way of progress in trade of both states, noting that long distance, technological weakness, lack of industrial tools are of the known problems in way of boosting trade, and these problems have made considerable amount of cultivable lands in Venezuela remain intact.

On the barter trade with Venezuela, he said that there are unique and individual capacities in this field that by planning by the government these capacities can be used. She then pointed to the fields for boosting cooperation like exporting technical services and gas condensates.

Abeiri added that Venezuela has asked for 200,000 cars from Iranian auto-maker SAIPA and both sides keen to launch the production line for SAIPA cars in Venezuela and soon it will happen.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – President Ebrahim Raeisi and his visiting Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro signed a 20-year partnership agreement aimed at bolstering cooperation in various fields between Tehran and Caracas.

The signing ceremony was officially held in the presence of the two countries’ high-ranking officials in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Saturday.

The partnership agreement includes cooperation in the fields of science, technology, agriculture, oil and gas, petrochemicals, tourism as well as culture.

Raisi hailed the accord as an indication of the two countries’ determination to expand bilateral ties despite U.S. and Western pressure.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought relations with independent countries in its foreign policy, and Venezuela has resisted the sanctions of the enemies and imperialism and has shown exemplary resistance,” Raisi told the ceremony.

“There have been numerous sanctions and threats against our country over the past 24 years, but the Iranian nation decided to turn the sanctions into an opportunity for the sake of the country’s progress.”

Raisi said Washington’s maximum pressure on Iran has miserably failed as acknowledged by the US, adding the admission is a victory for Iran and a defeat for the enemies.

Praising the Venezuelan nation’s resistance against the U.S., the Iranian president said, “Venezuela went through difficult years, but the will of the people and the government of this country was that it must stand up to the enemies, and it has moved in that direction.”

“Our relationship with Venezuela is strategic and exists in many different areas,” Raisi noted. “The signing of the 20-year cooperation document between the two countries is a manifestation of the will of the high officials of the two countries to expand ties in various fields.”

The Iranian president also said that “cooperation in the fields of energy, thermal power plants, repair and overhaul of refineries, exportation of technical and engineering services, economic, defense and military relations in the current government are indicative of the existence of many potentials and capacities in the two countries.”

He hoped that the Venezuelan president’s visit to Iran will be a turning point in boosting relations between the two countries.

Raisi said the launch of direct Tehran-Caracas flights, which will take place soon, is an opportunity for the two countries to expand economic and trade relations and bring their relations closer.

The Venezuelan president, for his part, lauded the 20-year partnership agreement between Tehran and Caracas, saying the two sides will be able to expand bilateral relationship by consolidating their ties and drawing a clear vision in the next two decades.

“We will use the historical experiences of Iran and put technology at the focal point of this cooperation agreement,” Maduro said.

“We are witnessing different areas of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, oil, gas, refineries and petrochemicals, and in the field of financing through the Iran-Venezuela Relations Development Bank, as well as in the field of defense.”

The Venezuelan president also confirmed the launch of direct flights from Caracas to Tehran and vice versa as of July 18, stressing that it will help develop tourism.

“The youths of Iran and Venezuela must know that the world of the future is a world of equality and justice. We stand against imperialism, and together we must build the future,” Maduro said. “I tell the Iranian people to count on all our support and cooperation.”
