<p class="summary">Iran national football team will play several friendly matches as part of preparation for the 2018 World Cup.</p>
<p>Team Melli will start their friendlies with a match against Libya on March 14 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium. The warm-up match was originally scheduled to be played behind closed doors but the Iranian football federation announced the fans could attend the game.</p>
<p>Carlos Queiros’s team will play one of Tunisia, Senegal and Bosnia &amp; Herzegovina teams on March 22 in Tehran and meet Algeria five days later in the same location.</p>
<p>Team Melli will face Uzbekistan on May 8 and meet one of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan teams three days later at the Azadi Stadium.</p>
<p>On May 20, the Iranian national football team will play Turkey in Istanbul.</p>
<p>Team Melli have been scheduled to meet as-yet unnamed team on May 28 in Tehran before leaving the country for their European training camp in Austria.</p>
<p>Iran will face Greece in Austria on June. 2. Noting that it’s possible one of Albania or Poland teams could replace Greece.</p>
<p>Finally, the Persians will face a team who have qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Moscow on June 8.</p>
<p>Queiroz’s team have been drawn in Group B along with Spain, Morocco and Portugal.</p>
<p>Iran will open the campaign with a match against Morocco at Saint Petersburg on June 15.</p>
<p>Team Melli, meanwhile, face Spain in Kazan on 20 June before meeting Cristiano Ronaldo&#8217;s Portugal in Saransk five days later.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary"><strong>Iran have climbed two spots in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.</strong></p>
<p>Team Melli remain Asia&#8217;s top-ranked team as they moved up to 32 in the rankings, an improvement of two places from October.</p>
<p>Australia &#8211; thanks to their FIFA World Cup 2018 Play-off wins over Syria and Honduras &#8211; also saw an improvement as the Asian champions jumped to 39th from 43rd spot previously.</p>
<p>Japan are Asia&#8217;s third highest ranked team but they dropped to 55th, down 11 places.</p>
<p>Korea Republic improved three spots to 59 while China PR dropped from 57th to 60th.</p>
<p>Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Korea Republic and Australia will be Asia&#8217;s representatives at the FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia.<br />
The top five remain unchanged in the World Rankings, with Germany still ranked as the best team in the world.</p>
<p>Spain have risen two places to sixth, with Switzerland also entering the top ten after rising three places to eighth.</p>
<p>North Korea were the most improved team, climbing 18 places to 114th, while Laos fell by 22 and are ranked 184th in the world.</p>
<p>Anguilla, the Bahamas, Eritrea, Gibraltar, Somalia and Tonga are jointly ranked as the worst team in the world, with zero points.</p>
<p>The next FIFA World Ranking will be released on December 21.</p>
