TEHRAN (Iran News) – Raisi vows to reform administrative system. President-elect Ebrahim Raeisi said on Friday that doing reforms in the administrative system, creating jobs and controlling Coronavirus pandemic will be among his top priorities after taking office in less than two months.

“What has preoccupied my mind more than everything is the issue of employment. The issue of coronavirus that the people are grappling with has also preoccupied my mind,” Raeisi said in his first televised interview speaking from the holy city of Mashhad on Friday, according to Press TV.

He noted that his administration would also focus on increasing the availability of housing for the public as pledged during his presidential campaigns.

However, he said, people are aware that some measures would take time and emphasized that his administration would make utmost efforts to solve problems as soon as possible.

During his presidential campaigns Raisi said if the country’s economic capacities are activated it is possible to create one million jobs every year.

A member of the Raisi campaign office had also said a plan has been devised to build four million housing units within four years.

In his Friday interview, Raisi also called for national unity to overcome the problems the country is struggling with.

Raisi, the incumbent Judiciary chief, was elected the eighth president after he garnered about 62 percent of the votes in the June 18 election. He will succeed President Hassan Rouhani, who has served two four-year terms in office.

Many world leaders, senior foreign officials, prominent figures, and regional resistance leaders have so far offered congratulations on the Raisi victory.

The newest greetings came from South African and Austrian presidents.

The message of greeting by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was announced by the Iranian ambassador to Pretoria.

In his message of congratulation, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen also pointed to seven centuries of friendly relations between Austria and Iran, saying, “I am willing to give assurances to Your Excellency that Austria will keep advancing political, economic, cultural and scientific relations (with Iran) in the future.”

Raeisi will assume office on August 3 after being sworn in.

TEHRAN – The findings of a research by Kaspersky Lab shows that in the first 6 months of 2017, Iran has been among 10 countries whose industrial cyber systems are the most vulnerable.

According to the Kaspersky research, which has been published by the Iran’s Maher Company, Iran industrial cyber systems have been infected with ransomware.

Among the 10 countries at the top of the list, Iran is in ninth place after Ukraine, Malaysia, Denmark, South Korea, Turkey, Brazil, Russia, Romania respectively, and followed by Australia.

Industrial control systems are considered to be the core of the control and supervision of critical infrastructure such as transmission and distribution networks, nuclear power plants, refineries, water networks and oil and gas factories, but due to the fact that these systems are outdated, much attention has not been paid to their security.

The survey also found that in the first half of 2017, among the 15 countries whose industrial control systems had been attacked, Iran ranked seventh.

In Kaspersky studies, the risks that industrial control systems face come from a number of sources, including states, terrorist groups, dissatisfied staff, problems, failures, natural disasters, as well as internal forces’ intentional acts.

According to the report, 500 industrial and transport companies from 50 countries have been subjected to commercial electronic threats.

Raytheon has been awarded a more than $150-million foreign military sale to install and maintain Patriot air defense systems for the armed forces of Qatar, the US Department of Defense said in a press release, Sputnik reported.

“Raytheon Co., Andover, Massachusetts, was awarded a $150,232,141 hybrid foreign military sales contract for technical expertise and assistance in the training, planning, fielding, deployment, operation, maintenance management, configuration management, logistics support, installation and sustainment of the Qatar Patriot air defense systems and associated equipment,” the release said on Friday.

Qatar is home to Al Udeid Air Base and is the site of the forward headquarters of the US Central Command and US Air Forces Central Command.

Work will be performed in Doha, Qatar, and is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2022, according to the release. The current political climate in Qatar is somewhat complex, as in June the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt announced the severance of diplomatic ties with the country and imposed a de facto blockade against it, citing Doha’s alleged support of extremist groups as the reason.

The advanced radar system named “Afaq” (horizons) was put on display during a ceremony on Monday with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami in attendance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier General Hatami hailed the production of the radar system and said it was developed thanks to the endeavors of domestic experts at the Defense Ministry.

He also said the radar is capable of monitoring and tracking vessels at a distance of up to 200 kilometers, adding that it can also track aerial targets.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including air defense systems that use cutting-edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
