Syrian Forces Repels Drone Attack on Jableh

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Syrian air defense forces managed to foil a drone attack over the city of Jableh on the Mediterranean coast.

The unmanned aircraft had made an unsuccessful attempt to hit a Russian airbase in the region, according to Press TV.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack on Jableh so far, but militants had recently struck the nearby Russian base of Hmeimim.

Israel also frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against terrorists.

Over the past year, the Russian military has thwarted several drone and mortar attacks launched by militants on its airbase, destroying dozens of drones and multiple-launch rocket system shells.

Russia has been helping Syrian forces in the ongoing battles across the conflict-plagued Arab country.

The Russian military assistance, which began in September 2015 at the official request of the Syrian government, has proven effective as Syrians continue to recapture key areas from Daesh and other terrorist groups across the country thanks to Russian air cover.

According To Iran News, The Syrian army killed 75 militants of Takfiri terrorist groups over the past 24 hours during its military operation.

The Syrian army continued their military operations against the terrorist groups in Saraqeb in Idlib southeastern countryside, and also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups, according to SANA.

At least 75 Takfiri terrorists were killed and tens of others wounded in Saraqeb.

Syrian Army Continue Fighting Terrorists in Idlib

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Syrian Army continued its military operations in the southern and southeastern countryside of Idlib as part of the Arab country’s push to fully liberate the northeastern province from the grip of foreign-backed terrorists.

According to SANA, the army units operating in the area of Kafr Ouwaid in Idlib’s southern countryside on Saturday engaged in heavy clashes with Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists and inflicted major losses on them.

Terrorist groups including al-Nusra are attempting to attack the Syrian army’s positions with the support of Turkish drones, but the Syrian troops have so far managed to repel their attacks in Idlib.

In the direction of Saraqeb, the army units continued targeting the positions, supply lines, and movements of terrorists with artillery and rocket strikes.

On August 5, the Syrian army declared in a statement the start of an offensive against foreign-sponsored militants in Idlib after those positioned in the de-escalation zone failed to honor a ceasefire brokered by Russia and Turkey and continued to target civilian neighborhoods.

Syria takes most of Aleppo

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Backed by Russian airpower, the Army of Syria has made unprecedented advances in the northwestern Aleppo province, which borders Turkey.

The Syria military has brought back most of Aleppo under sovereign control. Russian aircraft targeted terrorist positions there in advance to facilitate government movement on the ground, Press TV reported.

Reuters referred to the towns of Anadan and Haritan as some of the places liberated in the joint counterterrorism push.

There is very rapid advance by the government forces in this area, a London-based war monitor said.

The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) also said Syrian soldiers had established full control over all areas surrounding Aleppo’s provincial capital of the same name for the first time since 2012. The conquests drove away members of the notorious Takfiri terrorist group of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly known as Al-Nusra Front or Al-Qaeda’s Syria offshoot.

In all, the army liberated 23 villages to the west and north of Aleppo, from where terrorists shelled Aleppo, the country’s second-largest city.

Aleppo’s residents took to the streets afterward in celebration, waving the national flag and honking the horns of their cars.

Prior to the headway, the Syrian military had liberated the M5 Highway between Aleppo and Damascus, the fastest route linking the two cities.

The gains have coincided with similar advances in the neighboring province of Idlib. The province hosts the largest remaining concentration of militants and Takfiri terrorists in the Arab country since foreign-backed militancy began in Syria in 2011.

Turkey, however, has been uneasy with Syria’s progress in Idlib, claiming that the Syrian offensive there killed 13 of its troops this month. It has threatened to attack the Syrian military unless government forces abandoned the liberated areas, and asked Moscow to “stop” Damascus. Ankara has also made unverified claims that it has killed dozens of Syrian soldiers in one alleged retaliatory strike.

At one point, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan even threatened to end its involvement in a peace process for Syria.

Turkey has 12 observation posts in Idlib, set up as part of an Iran-brokered agreement with Russia to de-escalate the situation near the Turkish border. Some of the posts, however, now lie in the territory that has been recaptured in joint Russo-Syrian efforts.

President Bashar al-Assad has said his country is determined to liberate all Syrian land.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said during a briefing at the Munich Security Conference that Turkish and Russian officials would discuss Ankara’s complaints about the Syrian advances in Moscow. Cavusoglu also said he had met with some US lawmakers at the Munich conference and called for Washington’s support.

Also on Sunday, the White House said US President Donald Trump had called Erdogan, conveying Washington’s “desire to see an end to Russia’s support” for Syria.

Turkey has so far sent thousands of troops and many convoys of military equipment to reinforce its presence in northwestern Syria.

Over the past four years, the Turkish military has staged at least two unauthorized incursions into northern Syria. And the US, too, has been leading a number of its allies in establishing an unlawful military presence in the Arab country since 2014.

Syrian Army takes two areas in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Syrian army forces have managed to liberate two areas in the northwestern province of Aleppo, which was seized by the terrorists.

Following concentrated operations against terrorists, the Syrian Army liberated the towns of Khan al-Assal, southwest of Aleppo, and al-Rashidin, west of Aleppo.

The latest developments came after Syria’s army units on Monday managed to wrest control of a key highway connecting the capital Damascus to the second-largest city Aleppo for the first time in more than seven years.

The liberation of the M5 motorway, which links the capital Damascus to the major cities of Hama, Homs, and Aleppo, comes on the back of a months-old operation by the Syrian forces to liberate Idlib Province.

Idlib and the area north of Aleppo form part of the only large territory still in the hands of militants. The Syrian military has managed to undo militant gains across the country and bring back almost all of the Syrian soil under government control.

Militants in Idlib Got the Chance to Surrender

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Syrian army has given the last chance to the militants operating in the Idlib province to surrender, a Syrian news agency reported on Tuesday citing a military source.

The General Staff of the Syrian army said it gives one last chance to the militants operating in the province of Idlib to lay down their arms, Ikhbariya news reported, adding that the army was ready to repel any Turkish aggression in the province, Sputnik reported

“Our armed forces are trying to give the last chance to the militants and save the lives of the besieged civilians. The army units operating in the region have been ordered to allow those who decide not to rely on the support of the Turkish forces, to surrender their weapons”, the source said.

The source added that the Syrian Army was continuing its military operation against the militants, who have been fighting civilians and using them as “shields” in Saraqib and Tell Touqan in Idlib.

Fighting has escalated in Syria’s Idlib recently, as the army is trying to recapture militant-held areas in Idlib province, which remains a major terrorist stronghold in the country.

Idlib is home to various militant factions, with a large portion of it controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group (formerly known as Al-Nusra Front), the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda.

In September 2018, Moscow and Ankara agreed to set up a demilitarized zone along the contact line between the armed militants and Syrian government forces in Idlib. However, not all militants have laid down their arms, with the province remaining a stronghold of various terrorist groups.

More Villages Recaptured by Syrian Army in Southern Idlib

According To Iran News, Syrian army forces managed to retake a number of more village from Takfiri militants in the southeastern countryside of Idlib province, following intensifies clashes with terrorists.

Syrian troops liberated the villages and farms of Halban, Samaka, Tal Khatra and Khirbet Nawwaf after inflicting heavy casualties upon terrorists’ ranks and equipment in the southeastern countryside of Idlib province, according to a report by SANA.

Army units operating in the direction of Abu al-Dohour village engaged in fierce clashes with al-Nusra Front terrorists and their affiliated groups who tried to use foggy weather conditions to their benefit and attacked the army positions in the region, but faced the army’s tough defenses, which ended with the Syrian troops liberating the villages and their neighboring agricultural areas in the direction of Abu al-Dohour- Ma’aret al-Nu’aman, the report added.

The Syrian Armed Forces General Command on Tuesday announced the liberation of more than 320 square kilometers and the entry to more than 40 towns and villages in Idlib southeastern countryside since the army operation began against al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations in the province.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Syrian army forces have made fresh gains against foreign-backed terrorists in Idlib province, the last major stronghold of militants in Syria, as the army tightens the noose around the extremists operating in the region.

The Syrian army forces advanced in Idlib and cleared two key towns after destroying the terrorists’ hideouts and fortifications on Monday.

Government forces also surrounded a Turkish observation post in Idlib. Earlier, the Syrian army troops established control over five villages in the northwestern province.

According to Syria’s official news agency, SANA, government troops established control over the villages of al-Hraki and al-Qrati, besides several plots of farmland in Idlib’s southeastern countryside on Sunday.

The capture came after “intense battles” with members of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, Takfiri terrorist group, formerly known as the al-Nusra Front, SANA added, noting that army soldiers inflicted heavy losses upon the Takfiri forces.

In recent days, Syrian government forces have succeeded in wresting full control over several villages, following heavy exchanges of gunfire with the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorists.

The Takfiris were using the villages as a launching pad for their mortar attacks on areas in southern Idlib, which have returned to government control.

The armed conflict began in Syria in 2011. But the Syrian military, backed by the Russian air force and Iranian military advisers, have taken back control of most of the areas in Syria that had been held by militant and terrorist groups.
