In his speech, Iran’s leader said that it is necessary to refer to the holy Quran to find answers to theoretical, practical, political and social issues in humanities and added “some branches of the humanities have been studied for centuries in the world and the prerequisite for removing the irreligious or anti-religious roots of humanities and reconnecting them to their sources in Quran is a complete mastery over the scholarly developments made in the world.”

Highlighting the necessity of carrying out studies and researches in groups and increasing cooperation between various institutions and centers in an attempt to lead the humanities toward Islamic teachings, he added “apart from domestic researchers, there are some scholars throughout the world who are studying Islamic humanities. Iranian Islamic institutions should identify such scholars and cooperate with them.”

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the necessity of increasing the quality of scientific research and expressed hope that enlightening and groundbreaking articles be published on Quran and the humanities. He also asserted that some of the work produced by young writers and scholars is invaluable and promising and shows a movement forward in the field of seminary research.

Ayatollah Khamenei deemed US President Donald Trump’s Tuesday remarks against Iran “contemptible, offensive, obtuse, hectic, and all around untrue”, adding “those words were not said from a position of power, but out of anger, desperation and idiocy, since Americans are extremely upset that their old plans in the West Asian region have been thwarted due to the influential presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Stressing constructive interactions with the world without reliance on foreign powers, the Iranian Leader said “we had no issue with having nuclear negotiations, but we should have made sure that negotiations would not have come to the point where any wrong move by the other side would not be considered as a violation of the nuclear deal, but any measure from our side would.”

Ayatollah Khamenei deemed one of the main reasons for the West’s anger at the Iranian nation “the ever increasing advancement of the Islamic establishment’s influence in regional and international issues”, adding “US President’s address with those highly offensive and idiotic words better suited for a gangster, did not make the American nation proud. The American elites and intellectuals should feel ashamed for having Trump as their president, and they have indeed voiced their embarrassment.”

Leader went on to add that the fact that the realities in the Middle East today are different from what the US had in mind, as well as Iran’s presence and influence that has foiled the US and Israel’s plots, have all contributed to Trump’s anger and frustration.

“They [Americans] couldn’t advance their objectives in Lebanon. Things developed exactly contrary to what they wanted in Iraq, and even in Syria, despite the numerous crimes committed by US and its allies and their massive support to takfiri terrorists, the ISIL is now on the verge of collapse and other terrorist groups such as al Nusra have been isolated,” he said.

“The US stances do not reflect power and a higher position against Iran, but rather a complete failure, weakness and anger,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.

Iranian Sunni cleric Molavi Abdolhamid Ismaeelzahi, in a letter to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, had called for more attention to rights of religious minorities in the country.

The letter received a response from the Iranian Leader as quoted by Supreme Leader’s Chief of Staff Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani.

“The letter was observed by the Leader,” said Golpayegani adding “Ayatollah Khamenei applauded your expression of interest in the Islamic Republic of Iran and your support for the country and ideals of the Islamic Revolution.”

“All elements of the Islamic Republic are obliged to avoid discrimination and inequality against Iranians of any ethnicity, race or religion on the basis of religious teachings and the Constitution,” reads Leader’s message.

“We firmly believe that all should firmly stay together in solid and united ranks to preserve glory and dignity of Islamic Republic of Iran and spare no effort to this end in order to prevent enemies from causing division in the country.”
