TEHRAN (Iran News) –Sudanese acting Foreign Minister Ali Sadeq is set to visit Tehran in response to an invitation from his Iranian counterpart.

The visit marks the first diplomatic engagement between the two nations since the termination of relations in 2016.

During his visit, discussions with prominent Iranian figures will take center stage, addressing key issues pivotal to the ongoing diplomatic re-engagement.

This renewed dialogue follows the 2016 decision by Sudan to sever ties with Tehran in tandem with the strained relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Sudan jointly announced on October 9 their commitment to reinstating diplomatic ties, highlighting the culmination of recent high-level exchanges between the two nations.

The joint statement underscores the decision to renew diplomatic relations, emphasizing principles such as mutual respect for sovereignty, equality, common interests, and peaceful coexistence.

Both nations have agreed to foster friendly relations, with plans to reopen embassies and undertake necessary preparations for official delegations, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation.

This positive step comes after a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Sudanese counterpart, which took place on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers’ gathering in Baku in June.

Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters killed dozens of Saudi and Sudanese mercenaries in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Jizan, a report said.

According to Saba news agency on Monday, the Saudi and Sudanese forces were killed as Yemeni forces targeted their positions near Tiwal border crossing in Jizan.

During the attack, large amounts of Saudi weaponry, including several tanks, were also destroyed.

The attack was carried out in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless airstrikes on Yemeni civilians.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition led by the Saudi regime for nearly over three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Nearly 14,000 Yemenis, including 5,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
