Yemen Army Shoots Saudi Drone over Hudaydah

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Yemen army forces shot down a Saudi spy drone over the country’s western coastal province of Hudaydah.

Yemeni air defense forces downed the drone with a surface-to-air missile as it was on a reconnaissance mission over Kilo 16 district of the province, located around 230 kilometers west of the capital Sana’a, on Tuesday, an unnamed Yemeni military official said.

The source added that the Saudi-backed militants shelled residential areas in the south of Hudaydah several times, breaching a self-declared truth recently announced by the Saudi-led coalition.

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the Saudi-led military coalition waging war on Yemen decided to “extend the ceasefire for a month,” according to its spokesman Turki al-Maliki.

The chairman of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Yemen, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, has dismissed the Saudi-led coalition’s extension of the unilateral ceasefire in the war-ravaged Arab country by one month, saying Yemenis are expecting serious actions rather than words, which are simply media maneuver.

The Saudi-led coalition invaded Yemen in 2015. Since then, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).

Saudi Spy Drone Downed over Hudaydah

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Yemen’s air defense units shot down a Saudi spy drone flying in the skies over the western province of Hudaydah.

According to Yemeni media reports, the Arab country’s air defense forces targeted the surveillance drone over Hudaydah with a surface-to-air missile on Monday morning.

The drone was shot down over al-Shajan village, the reports added.

In a separate development, at least three civilians were killed and another sustained injuries when militiamen loyal to the country’s former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, shelled a residential neighborhood in the southern province of Ta’iz despite a two-week ceasefire declared by the Saudi-led coalition.

Local sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the Saudi mercenaries fired projectiles at Wadi Hanash village in the At Ta’iziyah district of the province Sunday afternoon.

The sources added that two women and a child were killed whilst a man was injured when their house was struck in the shelling.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of Hadi back to power and crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives since then.

Yemen target spy drone in Sa’ada

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Yemen air defense forces intercepted and targeted a Saudi-led spy drone in the northern province of Sa’ada.

According to Yemen’s al-Masirah television, the Yemen air defense forces intercepted and targeted a spy drone conducting surveillance for the coalition led by Saudi Arabia over the Razeh district of the northern province of Sa’ada on Monday.

Less than a week before, another unmanned aircraft with a similar mission was shot in the skies over the southern Saudi border region of Najran.

During the past few months, at least nine drones of the same type have been shot down.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies sought to bring the government of Yemen’s Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement when the coalition launched the campaign against Yemen in March 2015.

Nearly five years in, the coalition objectives have not been fulfilled.

The war has claimed more than 100,000 lives so far. That is according to estimates by the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization.

Earlier this month, Yemeni army forces, supported by allied fighters from the Popular Committees, intercepted and targeted an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Saudi-led military coalition while flying in the skies over Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Najran.
