TEHRAN – Judiciary Chief Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi says the nature of Islamic ruling and the Islamic Republic of Iran is clean and anti-corruption and wherever it finds corruption, it will combat it and no organ and official can accept existence of corruption in the society and administrative system.

Speaking during a session of the Judiciary’s Supreme Council, Hojjatoleslam Raeisi called for transparency in all sectors especially in the economic sector and called for implementing e-government and launching mechanism for implementation of justice and serious combat with discrimination.

He reiterated that combat and trial are parts of making the administrative system healthy but before anything, the grounds which are source of corruption should be corrected preventive grounds should be set..

Hojjatoleslam Raeisi reiterated that the Islamic Republic and Islamic ruling is innately against corruption and it combats with corruption.

He reiterated that all organs are duty-bound to combat corruption and the Judiciary’s task is to supervise and eradicate grounds for corruption and to confront corrupts through fair judgement.

He further said enemies resort to distortion in order to paint a negative picture of the Islamic Republic in order to set up corrupted governments. He once again reiterated that all should stand against distortions and not trust the enemies.

He also said that his body considers the case of Lieutenant General Soleimani’s assassination as a priority to deal with.

“Pursuing the assassination of Martyr Soleimani is high on the Judiciary’s agenda,” Raeisi said.

He stressed that the cowardly move by the U.S. will not be left unanswered, adding, “General Soleimani’s martyrdom will make the nations in the region more aware” of the U.S. crimes.

He emphasized that the U.S. is terrorist and supports terrorists, too.

At the direct order of U.S. President Donald Trump, American terrorist forces launched airstrikes at Baghdad airport on Jan. 3, assassinating Lieutenant General Soleimani and deputy PMU Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their comrades. Iran vehemently condemned the attack, vowing to take harsh revenge, part of which came five days later by a missile strike at U.S.’ al-Asad airbase in Iraq.

In an address to a meeting of senior Judiciary officials in Tehran, Raeisi denounced Canada’s recent move to sell Iran’s cultural buildings as “completely illegal and in contravention of all international conventions.”

“The Iranian nation has proved that it would not give in to force over any issue, and if Canada does not quit this course of action and expropriates the Islamic Republic of Iran’s assets, we will definitely launch a joint program in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Judiciary’s international department, to detect Canada’s properties,” the top judge added.

“In that case, we will certainly take action via international circles to impound and confiscate Canada’s assets,” Raeisi warned.

“We will by no means remain silent on this issue,” the Iranian Judiciary chief stated.

According to a document filed in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice revealed in August, the victims have received their share of the money earned through the sale of two Iranian-owned buildings in Ottawa and Toronto.

The valuable Ottawa property, sold for $26.5 million, was used as the Iranian Cultural Center, and the Toronto building, sold for $1.85 million, served as the Center for Iranian Studies, the Global News reported.

In addition to the $28 million earned from the sale of the two properties, the victims were also awarded a share of some $2.6 million seized from Iran’s bank accounts. Documents also list a Toyota Camry and Mazda MPV.

In particular, they include the family of Marla Bennett, a US citizen killed in a 2002 bombing that rocked the Hebrew University in Jerusalem al-Quds.

The attacks are mostly blamed on Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements Hamas and Hezbollah. The families claimed that the Iranian government supported the two organizations and was therefore responsible for their actions.

Iran has denied any role in the attacks which the courts have based their cases to appropriate the country’s frozen assets.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has issued some instructions on this issue, he said, adding that, God willing, the reform will accelerate and its details will be discussed further in the upcoming meetings of the country’s three branches of power.

“The reform of the country’s economic structure can have good effects on the internal atmosphere of the country,” Larijani went on to say.

The remarks came against the backdrop of increased tensions between Iran and the US with Washington imposing new economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

The US has ratcheted up pressure on Iran since last year after withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Since then, the administration of US President Donald Trump is trying to reduce Iran’s oil exports to “zero,” and has sent an aircraft carrier strike group, a bomber squad, an amphibious assault ship, and a Patriot missile battery to the Middle East to try to stack up pressure on Tehran.

Iranian officials, however, have dismissed such moves as psychological warfare, saying the country has its own ways of circumventing the American bans and selling crude oil.

He said today religion is under all-out attacks by the enemies and they are trying to cast doubt about the religion among people via social media. He added that if people get acquainted with religion strongly, they can stand against enemies’ waves of misleading and spread of doubts against the religion.

Hojjatoleslam Raeisi went on to say that the Islamic establishment cannot digest corruption and it does not let corruption be spread in the country because the principle of the Islamic establishment has been set based on repelling corruption.

He reiterated that days of economic corrupts are numbered and it is not because of his words but it is because of the identity of the Islamic establishment which is against the corruption.

The Judiciary chief said that his department will not tolerate any form of corruption, pledging continuous effort to tackle corruption.

Raeisi once again underlined that  the Islamic Revolution nature is incorruptible because the basis of this system is based on the right and rectitude.

He added, “The corruptors should know that they are reaching their ends.”

He added: “Anyone who attempts to misuse from the current economic situation and disrupt the market order will be treated seriously.”

Hojjatoleslam Raeisi went on to say that some are trying to show Kurdestan Province as unsafe place  through creating rift and unrests in the province.

He admitted that the province is facing with some shortages and called for resolving all problems.

He also urged the personnel of Judiciary offices in the province to spread justice and to defend rights of people against offenders.

“With the existence of such (local) documents, there is no need for treaties like the Paris Agreement,” the top Iranian official stated.

Although international cooperation for the protection of environment is necessary, there have been enough intellectual and religious discussions about the issue in the country, the top judge added, stressing, “We do not need to enter this arena (Paris Agreement) now for conservation of the environment.”

He further highlighted the importance of environmental diplomacy, saying Iran has close environmental interaction with 15 neighboring states.

He also criticized the western states’ greed for the development of nuclear weapons, warning of their hazardous impacts on the environment.

“Today, the arms race between the arrogant American and European powers has endangered the environment,” Raeisi said, addressing Iranian environmentalists.

“They have endangered the environment with nuclear weapons for their individual and group interests,” he added.

Nuclear weapons pose the single biggest threat to the Earth’s environment, scientists have warned.

The Judiciary Chief also urged the related organs and organizations to stop issuing licenses for those who want to destroy the nature for their own interests.

He added that the Constitution has underscored environment protection and all officials are assigned to help the environment protection.

Hojjatoleslam Raeisi reiterated all people are responsible for the environmental issues and protecting the nature and environment.

In November 2015, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei outlined 15 environmental policies developed in consultation with the Expediency Council in line with implementing the first paragraph of Article 110 of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution.

Development of an integrated national environmental system and the necessity for comprehensive, coordinated and systematic management of the country’s vital resources (including water, soil, air, and biodiversity) were among the most important policies that the Leader outlined in a letter to heads of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Iranian government.

The post has been vacant since December 2018, when the former deputy chairman of the assembly, Ayatollah Seyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi passed away.

Raeisi defeated his rival in the voting Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani garnered 29 votes to trail Ayatollah Raeesi.

Last week, Raeesi replaced Larijani as the judiciary chief who had requested in late February to step down after nearly 10 years of service in the position.

The chief of the Iranian judiciary is appointed by the Leader for a five-year tenure that is extendable. Raeisi is the sixth chief to head the country’s judicial body.

Raeisi has held several top-level posts in the judiciary. He was the prosecutor of several cities, including the capital Tehran, Karaj and Hamedan, before serving as the prosecutor-general of the country. Later, He also became the head of the General Inspectorate Organization of Iran which is affiliated to the judiciary.

Since 2016, Raeisi has been the custodian of Astan Qods Razavi, a major institution in charge of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH), the eighth Shia Imam.

According to reports, new custodian of Astan Qods Razavi will be named during Supreme Leader’s visit to Mashhad on the occasion of New Year.

Meanwhile yesterday in the Assembly of Experts and speaking at the event, Ayatollah Jannati stressed that the nation should appreciate 40 years of Islamic Revolution, in spite all the hostilities and plots of the enemies, this ‘Divine Revolution’ has gone from strength to strength.

The chairman of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Jannati added that Victory belongs to Islam and the Islamic Revolution, and defeat awaits the enemies.

Jannati also urged more assistance to the people, because they have never left the Revolution alone and they have always resisted against the enemies and finally defeated them.
