TEHRAN (Iran News) – Ambassador of Senegal to Tehran Mr. Salion Niang Deing in his meeting with economic activists of Alborz Province Chamber of Commerce said his country welcomes Iranians for investment in different fields especially in the pharmaceutical industries.

In the meeting, Deing pointed to the lack of pharmaceutical industries in his country, adding that Senegal like other countries have special directives in the field of medicines and medical services, and Iranian investors can easily with observing the regulations export their products to this country.

Deing who was leading a trade delegation from Senegal to Alborz Province also hailed the meeting which provides opportunity for economic activists to exchange views and to get acquainted with potentials of Iran and Senegal.

He noted that currently lack of knowledge and acquaintance about potentials of the two countries is the main hurdle for boosting bilateral trade ties and reiterated that the visit helped the Senegalese delegation to know potentials of Alborz Province.

He went on to say that Senegal is currently developing and there are infinite opportunities in all fields in Senegal, and Iran can have important role in Senegal for its development.

Deing stated that Senegal can be a good market for Iranian products because currently most of products are imported in his country, for example, it imports 250,000 tons of rice annually and it has other requirements like fruits and foodstuff. He added that Senegal is famous for its mango production and Iran can take advantage of it through its processing technology.

He reiterated that the Senegalese government fully supports foreign investment and it is the general policy of the country, adding that Senegal is a very safe and peaceful country and people can start economic activities in Senegal without restrictions after registering their companies.

He said when it is spoken about Senegal market, it is not just its 17m population but due to the country’s membership in the West African Economic Bloc like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana or Mali, it is a 300m-people market.

Deing added that the opportunity is ready for trade exchange between economic activists of the two countries and it will happen through knowing each other.

He stated the Senegalese delegation is representatives of 120,000 member companies of the West Africa Economic Bloc and his embassy is ready for any cooperation in any fields like easing the visa process for Iranian traders.

Meanwhile in the meeting, Head of Karaj Chamber of Commerce Mr. Parham Rezaee said that Alborz Province is one of the leading provinces of the country in terms of industry and production, adding that some 4,000 production and industrial units are active in Alborz and the province is strong in medicine and food industries, textile and agro, auto parts, plastic industries and chemical products.

Rezaee went on to say that some 92% of Senegalese are Muslims and it can help Iranian products to be welcomed in Senegal. He stated that there are some important problems on way to trade between Iran and Senegal and expressed hope that they would be resolved by governments of the two states for having an acceptable trade balance.

He went on to say that one of the important problems is easing the transportation that by easing it, the trade and export between Iran and Senegal will boost and according to Mr. Deing, an Iranian airliner is to launch direct flight between Tehran and Dakar.

IRAN NEWS ECONOMI DESK

Senegal Ambassador to Tehran says his country’s need to imports is a good opportunity for Iran’s private sector to take advantage of it for boosting trade relations.

Speaking on the Forum on Senegal Economy Day at Iran’s Chamber of Commerce yesterday, Amadou Sow said that one of the economic capacities of Senegal is cooperation in the oil and gas fields that Iranian companies can take advantage of it, adding that housing and construction is another opportunity for Iranians.

He pointed to alignment of Iran and Senegal in the international and political cooperation, adding that both countries can expand this cooperation to economic field.

Sou also pointed to the experience of cooperation between both states in vehicle production, noting that Senegal welcomes Iranian investors and economic activists in all fields.

He added that Senegal can be a gateway for entering a 300-million-people market in West Africa and it can be good economic opportunity for Iranian investors to have access to the West African markets.

Sou said that Iranian companies can cooperate with Senegal in discovering oil and gas fields in Senegal, and Iranian agro machineries can also play their role in Senegal.

He urged Iranian economic activists to attach special attention to Senegal which means attaching attention to 15 West African states.

Sou went on to say that Senegalese President is keen to constructing satellite towns and housing projects and the country is to build 100,000 housing units, adding that Iranians due to their good experience can involve in the construction project in Senegal.

He reiterated that there is no risk or political threat for investors, admitting that lack of direct flight between Iran and Senegal and banking and financial transactions are major hurdles which should be resolved.

Meanwhile addressing to the forum, Iran’s new ambassador to Senegal Mr. Mohammad Reza Dehshiri urged Senegal to ease visa process for Iranians and to operationalize exempting Iranian goods and services from tax as well as extending Iran Khodro Company’s tax exemption for five years.

Senegal started with real attacking intent and they were rewarded as star forward Sadio Mane took full advantage of some defensive hesitancy to score after 11 minutes.

Despite enjoying more possession, Japan remained on the back foot until Takashi Inui netted just past the half-hour, with a smart curling finish from inside the penalty area.

Yuya Osako missed a golden opportunity on the hour mark, and Inui hit the crossbar minutes later as Japan’s attacking outlets found space.

Senegal made Japan pay for their profligacy as 19-year-old Moussa Wague lashed home on 71 minutes, but substitute Keisuke Honda equalised seven minutes later, finishing off Inui’s cut-back pass from close range.

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse warned World Cup rivals that the West Africans had added tactical expertise to their enormous talent Tuesday after they opened their campaign with a convincing 2-1 win over Poland.

Cisse conceded there was an element of luck as Senegal benefited from a deflected Thiago Cionek own goal and a terrible error by ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny, but said the Polish mistakes came through pressure exerted by his team.

“We earned out victory, we worked very hard for it,” he said after the win, which puts Senegal at the top of Group H, ahead of Japan on goal difference.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak got Poland back in the game with an 86th-minute header but Senegal held on at Moscow’s Spartak Stadium.

It was a match billed as a straight fight between super-strikers Robert Lewandowski and Sadio Mane but Cisse said Senegal “controlled the game tactically and emotionally” to contain the Bayern Munich dangerman.

He said they would bring the same focus to their next match against Japan on Sunday, when Poland will play Colombia.

“Let’s not underestimate Senegal. We knew this Poland team very well,” he said.

“We knew their systems… we knew exactly how this team was going to move and that Lewandowski was their main threat, and we implemented the right system to play them.”

Poland coach Adam Nawalka was fuming at the performance of his team, ranked eighth in the world to Senegal’s 27th.

“There were many bad elements in the match,” he said.

“We did not match our opponent’s quality. The Polish team will have to regenerate and recuperate.”

Poland are in the finals for the first time since exiting at the group stages in 2006 and are desperate to improve on the third-place finishes in 1974 and 1982.

Senegal’s only previous appearance was in 2002, when they made the quarter finals after a run that included a famous win over defending champions France in the tournament’s opening match.

Cisse said the whole of Africa was closely monitoring the progress of Senegal.

“Senegal today represents the whole of the African continent,” he said.

“Of course we represent our country but I can also guarantee that the whole of Africa is supporting us. I’m getting phone calls from everywhere.”

– Costly blunders –

Liverpool striker Mane set up Idrissa Gueye in the 37th minute for a shot that took a wicked deflection off Cionek, leaving Szczesny totally wrong-footed in the Polish goal for Senegal’s opener on 37 minutes.

The lead doubled on the 60-minute mark thanks to Szczesny’s howler. Krychowiak put Poland in trouble with a woeful bouncing back pass and the ‘keeper rashly opted to charge out of his penalty area to try to clear the danger.

Instead, the speedy Mbaye Niang got in front of his defender, nicked the ball away from Szczesny and rolled it into the empty net.

It was the always-dangerous Niang who was at the heart of Senegal’s opening goal.

The Torino winger won the ball on the halfway line and fed Mane who rolled it sideways to Everton striker Gueye, whose shot skewed off Cionek’s leg and into the net.

Minutes after half-time, Sane was fortunate not to be sent off for a challenge on Lewandowski when he brought down the Polish striker as he honed in on goal. He escaped with a yellow card.

Krychowiak connected with Kamil Grosicki’s cross to give Poland hope, but they were unable to make up the deficit despite four minutes of injury time.
