TEHRAN (Iran News) – Recent developments in the region and especially in the Sea of Oman and the Persian Gulf are signs of emergence of one of the strongest navies in the world which is the Islamic Republic of Iran.

After thwarting the act of piracy of the U.S. forces, Iranian navy forces held an outstanding military drill in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman to show the world that they can guarantee security of the country and the region without any assistance from the arrogant powers.

In less than three weeks, the navy forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran had two wonderful displays of power and showed the enemies that they are a tough rival and they will not let any country covet its land and interests.

In less than 3 days after announcement of the U.S. failure in pirating Iran fuel shipment, the Iranian navy forces held a successful military drill wherein they tested their new weapons and power.

Iranian forces successfully launched domestically-manufactured anti-ship cruise missiles, detonating various naval targets during massive military exercises in an area stretching from the eastern sector of the strategic Strait of Hormuz to the northern tip of the Indian Ocean.

Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, the spokesman for the drills codenamed Zolfaqar-1400, said Iranian naval forces fired domestically-manufactured Qader (Able), Nasr (Victory) and Qadir missiles on the second day of the war game to practice hitting hostile watercraft of the mock enemy.

He noted that homegrown Iranian missiles, launched from tactical missile sites off the Makran coast, could also forcibly strike a target vessel located 200 kilometers off the shoreline.

Mousavi went on to say that a Nasr anti-ship cruise missile was fired from a guided-missile cruiser of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy to successfully hit surface targets.

The senior Iranian military official added that a long-range Qadir missile, also shot from a guided-missile cruiser, struck its surface target from a distance of 300 kilometers away.

Moreover, the Iranian Navy’s Tareq and Ghadir submarines confronted surface and subsurface simulated threats, using homegrown torpedoes to blow up various naval targets.

Tareq Kilo-class attack submarine launched a domestically-manufactured Valfajr torpedo to hit a predetermined target successfully. The submarine also planted DM-1 naval mines during the exercise.

In another operation, the Iranian Navy’s offshore units flew homegrown and radar-evading Omid drone to jam the radars of the mock enemy stationed on the coast. The unmanned aerial vehicle is said to be fairly effective in electronic warfare.

A homegrown surface-to-sea missile is launched from a vehicle-mounted launcher on the second day of the massive Zolfaqar-1400 military exercise in Iran’s southeastern waters on November 8, 2021. (Photo by Tasnim news agency)

The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy is now in possession of a wide and diverse range of cruise missiles in its inventory, Mousavi also said.

Homegrown anti-ship cruise missiles are armed with warheads of high explosive power and can withstand electronic warfare, he added, emphasizing that the armaments were put to test during the drills.

Mousavi said Iranian naval forces are able to destroy faraway targets, using indigenous surface-to-sea missile systems as well as surface and underwater units that are equipped with a variety of indigenous missiles.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great progress in developing and manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in this regard.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the Islamic Republic will not hesitate to build up its defense capabilities, emphasizing such abilities are entirely meant for the purpose of defense and will be never subject to negotiations.

These were some small examples for Iran’s amazing achievements in the military and especially in the Navy which is the outcome of relying on domestic experts and capabilities and this approach and spirit should be spread to all fields especially in the economy because Iran is a rich country in natural and human resources and all these capitals should be managed properly on course of having a strong country in all fields.

So the recent developments at least will remove the military threat from the table of the West that they always threaten Iran with all options on the table and it seems they will not dare to choose the military option against Iran because they have realized that Iran is not a weak country to be cornered with bullying and they will have pay dear price for their attack.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s forces have proved they can be a reliable force for Iranians and all nations in the region and they will not spare any effort to keep peace and security in the region and to help nations in case of their needs.

Army Plans to Stage Massive War Game in Southern Waters

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – The Iranian Army forces are going to stage a large-scale military exercise in the Sea of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean using a combination of new equipment.

The commander of the joint drill, codenamed Zolfaqar-99, said the main stage of the exercise will begin today (Thursday) and continue for three days.

The war game would include forces from the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, and Air Defense, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, noting that the drill zone covers an area of 2 million square kilometers in eastern parts of the Strait of Hormuz, Makran Coast, Sea of Oman, and northern parts of the Indian Ocean, down to the 10-degrees latitude.

He also noted that a broad range of vessels, submarines, aircraft and new weapons will be utilized in the war game, including ‘Fateh’ homegrown submarine.

The Army forces will practice offense and defense tactics in the drill, the commander said, adding that a long-range drone, called Simorgh, would carry out patrol and reconnaissance operations and engage in combat against hostile vessels by dropping smart bombs with pinpoint accuracy.

He said the purpose of the exercise is to ensure security of regional waters and international shipping routes. “Security in West Asia and its vital and strategic waterways requires indigenization of security with constructive cooperation from all regional countries and prevention of foreign presence in regional waters.”

With the motto of “sustainable security under defensive authority”, the war game will be launched in three different stages of ‘intelligence superiority’, ‘tactics’, and ‘display of power’, added the commander of the military exercise.

Different Army’s military equipment will be used during the event, including the powerful homegrown Fateh submarine, Sayyari said

Elsewhere, he said that providing the region and international waters with security and controlling this security are among the aims of this war game. “The security of the West Asia and its strategic waters depends on the localization of the security and constructive cooperation between all regional countries and not allowing transregional forces’ being present in the regional waters; in the past four decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has pursued this purpose by relying on internal capabilities and using young and committed forces.”

“The enemies of the Islamic Republic should know that in case they commit any strategic mistake, the geography of battle and the stage of Iran’s response to their measures will not be limited to the West Asian region and they will face a vast field of battle.”

Commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters Major General Gholam Ali Rashid made the remarks among the army commanders in the area of ‘Zolfaghar 99’ military exercise, which will be held on the Makran coasts.

Referring to the capabilities and combat readiness of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Gen. Rashid said, “After 40 years and facing the security crises of the beginning of the Islamic Revolution and then eight years of the Imposed War, Iran’s Army has the power and ability to prepare combat very well to respond to threats.”

“The greatest achievement of the experience of the Holy Defense for the Iranian nation and the armed forces is the need for defense readiness and the use of military force to respond powerfully to threats,” he added.

“During the Imposed War, we have got familiar with the components of power and the ways how to use them, so we hope that the enemies would refrain from testing the will and power of Army and IRGC,” he stressed.

Iran Navy Successfully Test-Fires New-Generation Cruise Missiles

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – Iran’s naval forces have successfully tested new-generation cruise missiles — designed and developed by experts at home — during military drills in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean.

During the maneuvers on Thursday, the long-range and short-range missiles were successfully fired from the coast and from decks of ships, hitting the designated targets with high accuracy.

The long-range missiles destroyed their targets at a range of 280 kilometers.

The coast-to-sea and sea-to-sea missiles were produced by experts at Iran’s Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Navy, according to the report.

At the end of the maneuvers, Deputy Chief of Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari described the successful launch of new cruise missiles as a promising step toward further upliftment of the country’s defense and deterrence power.

He added that Iran will continue to march toward self-sufficiency and becoming needless of foreign military equipment despite brutal sanctions imposed on the country, adding that “successful test-firing of long-range missiles is a sign of remarkable progress in boosting synergy between the armed forces and defense industries.”

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi also noted that production of new home-grown missiles by the Iranian experts will better equip the Islamic Republic to handle any threat against the Islamic establishment and the Iranian people while strengthening a sense of self-reliance in the Iranian Armed Forces.

The long-range naval cruise missiles hit the targets at a distance of 280 kilometers. The range of the new homegrown missiles may be extended.

A variety of coast-to-sea and sea-to-sea missiles with short and long ranges were fired simultaneously from the coastal launchers and the deck of naval vessels, and they could successfully detonate the targets with great accuracy.

The Thursday war game was held on the fortieth day after the martyrdom of a number of Navy forces in an incident involving the Konarak vessel.

Nineteen Navy servicemen were martyred and 15 others injured in the accident on May 10 when a number of vessels were carrying a naval training exercise off the coasts of Jask and Chabahar in the Sea of Oman.

Americans Will Suffer Casualties in Persian Gulf

In recent weeks, Persian Gulf has experienced very perilous days because of the U.S. forces, deployed on the warships and frigates in the region.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

Reacting to the U.S. forces, and President Donald Trump’s bluff-like remarks who said he had ordered the American military to shoot and destroy any Iranian vessels that harass U.S. navy ships, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a statement described the presence of the U.S. military in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman as a breach of security in the region, stressing that the formation of void U.S.-led coalitions under the pretext of maintaining ship security is not only not helping, but also a dangerous move that disrupts peace and security of the region at the same time.

The statement said the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, as important international waterways and major economic hubs, have always been safe paths for the movement of oil and merchant ships, and they have enjoyed the necessary security all through the past years. In this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in cooperation with the countries of the region, has tried to maintain stability and calm at an acceptable level.

All neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf are fully aware that disruptive and provocative military operations, combat exercises, shooting, territorial aggression, unnecessary inspections of ships and vessels, imposing psychological insecurity on fishermen and traders, preparing grounds for freedom of action for smugglers, polluting the marine environment and endangering marine aquatic life by the use of nuclear propulsion is only part of the risky and unconventional measures of the U.S. Navy in the region are against the customary international law.

It also said Iran has sounded necessary warnings to the U.S. to put an end to its provocative moves and adventurism which their presence in the region obstructs peace and stability and spreads tension and insecurity. It warned them that any provocative act and conflict in the current condition is considered against the international rules and regulations.

This adventurism and tension in the region by the U.S. comes at the time Americans have repeatedly experienced Iran’s defensive capabilities and its didactical responses.

One unlikely finds any adventurism by the U.S. forces in the region which has not faced a final crushing blow. 2877 days of the Sacred Defense ended in grandeur and victory of Islam and Iran in the region. The fiasco of downing Iranian passenger plane over the Persian Gulf unmasked the U.S. in the region as bloodthirsty even assassination of martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and his comrades portrayed a disgraceful and hateful face of the U.S. in the region so that even American Democrat Senator Chris Murphy on January 3 and after the assassination of Martyr Soleimani said that Soleimani’s martyrdom could be more dangerous to the U.S.

Now we should ask us this question whether Martyr Soleimani’s being alive has been more dangerous or his martyrdom. On Iran’s new launch of satellite into orbit, Murphy says “The launch of military satellite is a proof that Trump’s Iran policy just strengthens Iran and causes them to act more aggressively. In virtually every way, Iran is stronger today in the Middle East [West Asia], and America is weaker than 4 years ago.”

Although the U.S. whose troops on the warships are currently infected with the Coronavirus, it does not stop its wickedness and creates tension in the Persian Gulf.

It seems that as most media outlets in the world have predicted and revealed both explicitly or implicitly that the U.S. would suffer casualties in the region, they have not said much nonsense.

Any Move of Americans in Persian Gulf Closely Monitored

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – A senior Iranian military commander says Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is closely monitoring the movements of U.S. troops in the region.

Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said Rriday the Iranian military is keeping a close watch on the Persian Gulf.

“Today, we (the IRGC) are following the Americans like a falcon in the entire Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and anywhere that the Americans are present, and our brothers in the Army are monitoring them in the Sea of Oman, too,” said Admiral Tangsiri, the commander of the IRGC’s Naval Force.

“The Islamic Republic [of Iran]’s forces in the Sea of Oman and the Persian Gulf are monitoring all movements of the Americans,” he said.

The top commander said there is no way, but for the Americans to leave the region.

“We see a bright prospect for the Persian Gulf region. If we say the Americans should leave the region, it is because their departure will rid the region of problems and security will return to the Persian Gulf,” he noted.

“The Americans are seeking to foment tension and fuel the fire in the region,” he said.

“They brought insecurity to anywhere they went to; so, the presence of the U.S. and transregional countries has brought insecurity to the Persian Gulf, a region which used to be calm and nations lived there in peace and harmony,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. system are playing a blame game at this juncture given that the country is facing internal problems.

“This blame game in the Persian Gulf is a justification for their illegitimate presence, but the nations in the region have been awakened and their initial departure from Iraq will take place and, God willing, the same trend will begin in other countries as well,” the commander said.

“It has been forty years that their presence is not acceptable to people, and we believe collective security is the only way to ensure stability in the region, and we announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention of challenging anybody,” he said.

He said the Americans are seeking to regain the face they have lost in the region. He also touched upon Iran’s downing of an American done that had trespassed into Iranian airspace as well as Iran striking a US base in Iraq in revenge for the U.S. assassination of top Iranian commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

“As I said, in addition to this, they are also gripped by internal problems, and that’s why they need to play blame games,” he said.

“You should know that since the Persian Gulf region is our home, we are not seeking to set off fire in our own home, but we cannot accept that our fishing launches are searched by U.S. forces and US choppers fly over our oil rigs and we cannot accept that they violate our rights,” he said.

The top commander also referred to the recent confrontation between the IRGC’s speedboats and American warships in the Persian Gulf.

“They had entered the territory of our exercises while it has already been announced that drills were being conducted in that territory. By making such moves, they are seeking insecurity and that is why they were ordered to leave,” he said.

“A few years ago, what happened when a US warship targeted a vessel belonging to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), killing two Indians? The Americans are not observing shipping rules; why should they reserve the right to conduct military war games whenever they want?” said the commander.

“The Americans are on the decline and collapsing from within, but they keep trying to show off their hollow grandeur to the oppressed people in the region,” he added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to the recent naval drills between Iran, Russia, and China, which wrapped up Sunday, saying such cooperation shows that some major powers are against any tension in the region.

Addressing Iran joint drills he said that there are “other countries, among major world powers, which oppose tension in this region,” the top diplomat added that “this joint exercise also shows that Iran is willing to cooperate with other countries to ensure the security and the free passage of maritime traffic in the important international waterway of Hormuz.”

He made the remarks upon arrival in Russia’s Vnukovo airport on Sunday night for a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

Iran, Russia, and China held a joint naval from Friday to Sunday in the Sea of Oman and Indian Ocean with the aim of promoting the security of international trade in the strategic regions, as well as sharing experience among participants against piracy and marine terrorism.

The drills came amid the United States’ efforts to set up a so-called international maritime coalition in the Persian Gulf following a series of suspicious attacks on passing takers in the waterway it blamed on Iran.

Tehran has firmly rejected the accusations, describing the incidents as “false flag” operations.

Also, in his remarks on Sunday, Zarif said that Tehran and Moscow enjoy close ties and that his current visit to the country is his 28th trip during his six and a half year tenure as foreign minister.

“We [Iran and Russia] have strategic ties and it is therefore required to have constant cooperation and consultation regarding various regional and international issues,” he said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran, Russia, and China have begun a four-day joint maritime drills in the Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman area.

Speaking on Friday morning, Second Rear Admiral Gholamreza Tahani said that the Iran, Russia and China maritime drills will begin with the three countries’ vessels leaving Iran’s Chabahar port in the Gulf of Oman and deploying across the northern areas of the Indian Ocean.

The drills, dubbed as the “Marine Security Belt” exercise, will cover 17,000 square kilometers and consist of “various tactical exercises”, such as target practicing and rescuing ships from assault and incidents such as fires, Tahani said.

“َAmong the objectives of this exercise are improving the security of international maritime trade, countering maritime piracy and terrorism, exchanging information regarding rescue operations and operational and tactical experience,” he added.

Speaking about the significance of the drills, Tahani said the Indian Ocean is the world’s third-largest ocean which neighbors many important countries and incorporates the strategic straits of Hormuz, Malacca, and Bab el-Mandeb.

According to reports, Iran is taking part in the maneuvers with its Sahand and Alborz destroyers, the Kenarak and Tonb logistic warships, the Neyzeh missile boat, and the Nazeri hospital ship.

On Thursday, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian announced that Beijing’s Xining guided-missile destroyer will take part in the drills.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Friday it had sent three ships from its Baltic Fleet – Yaroslav Mudry frigate, Yevgeniy Khorov tanker, and Yel’nya rescue tug boat – to take part in the drills, Red Star, the official newspaper of Russia’s armed forces, reported.

The ministry was cited as saying that it was the first time that such drills were being held in such a format.

Speaking on Friday, Tahani said that one of the most important achievements of the drills is the message that Iran “can not be isolated”.

The joint drills, he said, signal that relations between Tehran, Moscow and Beijing have reached a “meaningful” level and that such a trend will continue in the future.

“This is the first time following the Islamic Revolution that Iran has held a joint maneuver with two major world naval powers at this scale,” he said.

“Surely countries which are closer to each other in economic, political, social, defense and security-related fields cooperate together to ensure their collective security,” he added.

Iran, China, and Russia joint drills come amid the United States’ ongoing efforts to pressure and isolate Tehran by coupling robust sanctions and regional military deployments as part of a campaign of “maximum pressure”.

Earlier this year, Washington announced that it was seeking to form a maritime coalition patrolling the Persian gulf after blaming Iran for a series of suspicious attacks on passing tankers in the waterway, which Tehran has described as “false flag” operations.

The United States used the attacks as a pretext to send additional troops and warships to the Persian Gulf, citing unspecified Iranian threats.

The coalition has, however, received a lukewarm welcome from its allies and only a few US allies have joined it, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Amid Washington’s bolstered regional deployments and military provocations targeting Tehran, Iran shot down an American spy drone for violating its airspace near the Strait of Hormuz in June.

According to the official website of the Guardian Council, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari made the remarks in a meeting with the directors and the staff of the Council on Saturday to brief them on the developments in the military and maritime fields.

Sayyari pointed out that the army has intensified its efforts in the southern Makran region on the Sea of Oman and the Persian Gulf over the past few years in line with the instructions of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

The military official said that enhancing Iran’s economic and military power in the seas is incorporated in the country’s Sixth Five-Year National Development Plan (March 2021).

He further criticized the lack of paying enough attention to the economic activities in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman despite huge potentials, noting that through planning and taking proper measures, the seas can be very good sources of food, income and power.

Sayyari further referred to Iran’s geostrategic position in the region or even on an international scale, noting “there are 9 strategic waterways in the world, 4 of which are located in the region Iran is situated.”

“That is why Arrogant powers (imperialist powers) seek presence in this region,” he went on to say.

The senior military official continued by saying that Iran is located in the center of the Energy Oval, which contains 90% of world’s gas resources .
