Yemeni army troops, supported by allied fighters from Popular Committees, established full control over the region of al-Sadara, which is a connecting route to Southern areas of Ma’rib.

The Yemeni army has sent thousands of fighters to the province over the past couple of weeks to expel forces loyal to the ex-government.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been conducting a bloody military aggression in Yemen with help from its regional allies, and using arms supplied by its Western backers. The aim of the war has been to bring Yemen’s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and defeat the Houthi Ansarullah movement.

Yemeni armed forces have been boosting their military capabilities and responding to the attacks using domestic missiles and drones, and targeting sensitive oil installations and military sites deep inside the Saudi territory.

Since 2015, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).

In remarks on Sunday night, Brigadier General Yahya Saree said over the previous 48 hours, the Saudi-led fighter jets bombarded various areas of Yemen 50 times, the Arabic-language al-Masirah TV reported.

He added that the aggression of enemy fighters focused on the northwestern provinces of Saada and Hajjah, targeting citizens’ properties and farmlands.

Saree also said several attacks and infiltration operations by the Saudi aggressors against Yemen have failed on some fronts.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than four years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Official UN figures say that more than 15,000 people have been killed in Yemen since the Saudi-led bombing campaign began.

The Saudi war has impacted over seven million children in Yemen who now face a serious threat of famine, according to UNICEF figures. Over 6,000 children have either been killed or sustained serious injuries since 2015, UN children’s agency said. The humanitarian situation in the country has also been exacerbated by outbreaks of cholera, polio, and measles.

Tehran (Iran News) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that there was no evidence that Iran was responsible for an attack on Saudi oil infrastructure last month and that the United States had not presented any proof of Tehran’s role.

“We condemn these attacks on Saudi but we are against shifting the blame to Iran because there is no proof of involving Iran in Saudi attacks,” Putin said, adding that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had personally told him Tehran had nothing to do with the strike.

Last month’s attack reduced Saudi Arabia’s oil output by half, causing a spike in prices, but Riyadh has been able to restore production.

Russia maintains close ties with both Iran and Saudi Arabia, and Putin on Wednesday credited the Moscow-Riyadh cooperation with stabilizing global energy prices.

On the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) meeting in Armenian capital city of Yerevan on Tuesday, Rouhani held talks with his Russian counterpart.

The two sides discussed the initiative for ensuring security in the Persian Gulf.

Rouhani said that “lasting security and peace in the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and the Strait of Hormuz can only be achieved with the participation of the countries in the region.”

Putin reiterated his support for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and said that Moscow is making every effort to encourage all parties to the agreement to fulfill their obligations.

Rouhani said Russia can play an important role in the implementation of the deal.

Ever since quitting the nuclear deal in May 2018, US President Donald Trump has been running what he refers to as a “maximum pressure” campaign of sanctions against Iran, reinstating sanctions lifted under the deal and also imposing several rounds of new ones.

Washington says it seeks to pressure Iran into negotiating a new deal that addresses its ballistic missile program and regional influence. While condemning the US sanctions, Iran says such “economic terrorism” against the Islamic Republic will only make future negotiations with Tehran impossible.
