TEHRAN – Iranian international player Saman Ghoddos joined French football team Amiens from Ostersunds FK.

The 24-year-old player has joined Amiens on a five-year contract.

Amiens President Bernard Joannin has confirmed the transfer, L’Equipe reported.

Amiens paid €4 million to sign Ghoddos.

Ghoddos became the first Iranian player to play in France Ligue 1.

Ghoddos represented Iran national football team in three matches against Morocco, Spain and Portugal as a substitute in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

He helped Swedish club Ostersunds to advance to the Europa League last 32 and was voted Sweden’s top striker in 2017.

Ghoddos had been linked with move to English teams Wolves, QPR, Fulham, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Manchester City.

He had also reached an agreement to join LaLiga teams Celta Vigo and Huesca.

TEHRAN – Ostersund FK have accepted an offer from Stade Rennais for his international striker Saman Ghoddos.

The versatile striker, who became the best player of the Swedish league last season, represented Iran national football team in the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Saman Ghoddos had reportedly reached an agreement with La Liha side Huesca.

After saying goodbye to his teammates at the end of the match against Kalmar, he said he was “very happy to join a big club. ”

According to additional information from L’Equipe, Rennes will pay € 3.5 million to sign the player who scored 41 goals in 93 matches with Östersund including five goals in Europa League last season.

TEHRAN – Ostersunds FK midfielder Saman Ghoddos has reached an agreement to join Huesca, aftonbladet.se reported.

Huesca will play in the Spanish league for the first time next season.

The 24-year-old winger was voted the Allsvenskan Player of the Month for July after his good performances in the last month.

Ghoddos has been also linked with move to English teams Wolves, QPR, Fulham, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City and LaLiga outfit Celta Vigo.

French trio Bordeaux, Amiens and Rennes have also shown interest in signing Ghoddos.

Chinese clubs had already made huge contract offers to the Swedish-born Iranian footballer.

Ghoddos has hit ten goals in 20 games for Ostersunds so far this season.

He won two caps for Sweden in friendlies before switching to his parents’ home country last year.

The former Syrianska star has since won 11 caps for Carlos Queiroz’s Iran side and scored one goal.

TEHRAN – Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have set their sights on Östersunds FK winger Saman Ghoddos.

City’s strategy of signing relatively unknown players for small fees with the aim of profiting in some way could continue after it was revealed that a club scout watched Ghoddos at the weekend.

Ghoddos featured for 90 minutes against Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top flight, before the watchful eyes of a City representative, City Watch reported.

The 24-year-old, who can play in several attacking roles, has scored 8 goals in 14 appearances for his club this season, and was also at the World Cup with Iran, appearing as a substitute against Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

He is considered too good for Swedish football now and according to Expressen is almost certain to leave soon. He has already turned down interest from China because he wants the best sporting project for himself, preferring a stay in Europe.

French trio Bordeaux, Amiens and Rennes are keen on him and so, it seems, are Manchester City, who would undoubtedly sign him then send him on loan somewhere – perhaps to a sister club such as NAC Breda.

To add intrigue to the situation, Östersunds’ president Daniel Kindberg avoided a direct answer when asked if Manchester City had placed a bid for the Iranian.

“You never know,” Kindberg replied cryptically.

City are known to invest in such talents every summer and usually sell them on for profits after a loan move or two – or use them to help a CFG partner club reach their objectives. And Saman Ghoddos, an 11-cap Iran international, may well be their next investment if the Blues follow up on their scouting of him.

 Östersund midfielder Saman Ghoddos has dismissed the idea of going to the Chinese Super League, saying he has plenty of years in front of him.

Ostersund Post had reported that the Iran international midfielder has been linked with Chinese football teams but Ghoddos says he would rather join a European football team.

“I have offers from Chinese teams but I don’t think about money right now. I’m so young to join Chinese Supper League. Undoubtedly, money is important, but not enough to get away from what I’ve done since I was young when I have taken the steps in the right direction. I will continue to do that,” Ghoddos said.

“My favorite League has always been La Liga, but I also consider the Premier League or Bundesliga. My agents and Daniel Kindber (Östersund chairman) know which league is better for me,” the Iran international midfielder told Fotbollskanalen.
