]]> TEHRAN – Police have reportedly arrested Tehran’s former prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi, who was earlier convicted to two years imprisonment for the post-2009 election deaths in prison.

According to IRNA, Mortazavi was arrested in northern Mazandaran Province on Sunday and was taken to the Evin detention center in Tehran.

In March 2018, Mortazavi’s sentence was referred to the department for the enforcement of judgments, but he failed to show up, sparking rumors that he had fled abroad.

]]> TEHRAN – The Judiciary has issued a warrant for the arrest of former judge and prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi.

Mortazavi was officially sentenced on February 28 to two years in prison for his role in the deaths of inmates while in the Kahrizak detention center.

Citing judiciary officials, Mir-Majid Taheri, who represents one of the victims of the Kahrizak detention center, said on Saturday that the Mortazavi case is on the agenda of the Judiciary, Tasnim reported.

The appellate court session for Mortazavi was held on October 10 but due to his absence the session was canceled and it was postponed to November 21.
