The development and increase of urban and industrial infrastructure have made the drilling of underground deep wells, even at very great depths, inevitable. Deep and intertwined underground networks, including sewerage network and deep oil and gas pipelines, have two difficult stages: first, the construction of these networks and, more importantly, their maintenance.

However, technology and innovative solutions have been proposed to solve this problem.

“Idea Kavan”, an Iranian knowledge-based company, has solved this by producing a videometric equipment, IFP News reported.

The CEO of the company says this advanced robotic equipment performs operational tasks and includes visual inspection systems.

According to Abolfazl Hassani, the robots used to unclog deep wells utilize a variety of technologies. The company’s wells unclogging robot has an internal hydraulic system that can perform high quality walling and repair.

“This robot can repair walls up to a depth of 500 metres with a diametre of 10 to 16 inches. The robot also has cameras designed for positioning and inspection after the operation so that the user can easily monitor the process.”

He says one of the most common problems with imaging robots is their overturning. The robot made by this knowledge-based company is designed to be resistant to overturning. The body of this robot is made in such a way that in case of any event such as inversion, it can continue to move easily.

English-speaking AI robots will be helping out in some 500 Japanese classrooms from next year as the country seeks to improve its English skills among both children and teachers.

The education ministry plans a pilot project costing around 250 million yen ($227,000) to improve Japanese students’ notoriously weak oral and written English, an official told AFP.

“AI robots already on the market have various functions. For example, they can check the pronunciation of each student’s English, which is difficult for teachers to do,” added the official in charge of international education, who asked not to be named.

AI robots “are just one example of the trial and we are planning other measures” such as using tablet apps and having online lessons with native speakers, he said.

The move comes ahead of a change in the national curriculum in two years that will require children from the age of 10 to learn English.

Japanese schools struggle to find qualified teachers for English classes and generally lack the cash to hire trained language assistants.

Some primary and middle schools have already turned to technology to bolster English teaching, introducing English-speaking AI robots in the classroom.

English classes are currently compulsory for Japanese students aged between 12 and 15 but the starting age will be lowered to primary school children in 2020.
