Leader Highlights Enemies Miscalculation During Recent Riots

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlights the enemies’ “miscalculation” during recent riots in Iran, saying they attempted in vain to rally the Iranians behind their plot to overthrow the government and disintegrate the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with a number of poets and panegyrists of the Holy Prophet’s household in Tehran on Thursday.

The Leader said the enemies “imagined that the Iranian nation would support their plot of subversion and secessionism due to their economic problems.”

The enemies thought that they could force the Iranian officials into inaction through various types of insults and sow discord among the country’s high-ranking authorities through hue and cry, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Leader stated that the enemies “thought they could affect the Islamic Republic’s will by [spending] the petrodollars of a mercenary state of the U.S. and frustrate the Iranian youths by encouraging some mercenary elements to seek asylum in other countries.”

“This is while they made a mistake and no one paid attention to them. They made a mistake because the Islamic Republic’s will emerged to be stronger and firmer than all the components of their power,” Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized.

Over the past 40 years, the Leader said, the enemies have acted against the Islamic Republic in any possible way, “but they have so far suffered defeat because their calculations were wrong and they will [continue to] face defeat in the future.”

Ayatollah Khamenei, however, warned that the enemy’s miscalculations should not make the Iranians negligent and prideful, calling on the nation to remain careful and maintain its unity and hope.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance for the country to build strength as the main factor that demoralizes the enemies. “So let’s not allow this unity to shatter. Let’s not help inflame ethnic and religious differences and feelings of one group against another.”

“When we become so strong that the enemy becomes frustrated, we can achieve peace of mind,” he said.

Enemies used all the necessary factors required for disrupting and destroying a country, Ayatollah Khamenei stated, enumerating some of the factors and said “economic woes” were one of them that was exploited by the enemies in the recent riots.

“Also, the security factor, the infiltration of spy teams, the Iranophobia campaign by arrogant powers across the world with various propaganda methods, getting some internal elements on board with themselves, inciting ethnic, religious, political and personal motivations, and widespread propaganda, were among the other disturbing factors they had activated months earlier,” the Leader said.

“There is a variety of tastes and opinions across the country but there is also a consensus among people about Islam, the establishment and the Revolution,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Anyone who harms unity of the nation has served the enemy and played in its court and according to its plan.”

Portland Declared Riot After Fire Outside of Mayor’s Home

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A riot was declared in Portland, US state of Oregon, and up to 20 protesters were arrested by police after a fire was started outside the apartment of the city’s mayor.

On the 96th consecutive night of demonstrations in Oregon’s largest city since the killing by police in Minneapolis of an unarmed black man sparked protests across the nation, around 200 people marched to the apartment where mayor Ted Wheeler lives, the Independent reported.

Wearing black hats to “celebrate” the mayor’s 58th birthday, people stood in the street and demanded that he resign, complaining that he had failed to reform the city’s police force.

At least one window was broken and a firework was reportedly set off in the building. Someone also dragged a picnic bench to the intersection and set it on fire.

Shortly afterwards, officers from the Portland Police Department (PPD) moved in, using loudspeakers to declare a riot and warning people to disperse or else face arrest.

“This was the arson fire that prompted a riot declaration tonight,” the PPD wrote on Twitter, of an image of the blaze. “It was critical to secure the area to allow firefighters to respond to this dangerous situation.”

One protesters, who asked to use the initials FO, was using a loud hailer to call on Mr Wheeler to resign and the police officers to quit as well.

“They need to quit, and they need to defund the police,” she said.

Events on Monday night were just the latest flare-up in Portland, a Democratic-controlled city which has been attacked by Donald Trump and his supporters as an alleged hot bed of anarchy.

“Portland has been burning for many years, for decades it’s been burning,” he told Fox News.

Riot in Downtown Portland for 3rd Time This Week

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A riot was declared for the third time this week in Portland, US state of Oregon when demonstrators attacked the Hatfield Federal Courthouse early Saturday morning.

According to Portland police, about a couple hundred people gathered and blocked the streets around the Justice Center on Friday. Some set off commercial-grade fireworks on Southwest Main where the elk statue used to stand.

Demonstrators began marching to the Waterfront around 11:00 p.m. then back again 45 minutes later to the area of Southwest 3rd and Salmon and Madison, police said, Fox12 reported.

Around 12:53 a.m., a few protesters began throwing rocks at the Federal Courthouse and then commercial-grade fireworks toward the Justice Center, police said.

Several fires were lit throughout the night including dumpster fires, Portland Fire & Rescue were not required, police said. There were also several arguments and physical fights with the group but were broken up without police intervention.

In an on-going effort to de-escalate the situation, officers “stayed away from the demonstrators, as there was not an identified life safety risk,” police said in a statement. No CS gas was used.

At about 4:00 a.m. the Federal Courthouse was attacked, and a riot was declared in Portland, including multiple calls were issued to leave or be subject to arrest.

Enemies magnifying recent riots

TEHRAN– Referring to the recent unrest in some parts of Iran, Minister of Intelligence said, “Even though such events are not deep-rooted, the enemy has been magnifying them to show that such issues are widespread in Iran.”

According to Sistan and Baluchistan Province’s Public Relations Office, Hojjatoleslam Sayed Mahmoud Alavi attended a meeting of Sistan and Baluchistan Administrative Council on Saturday. At the meeting, he said that the Iranian officials’ primary duty has been to treat the people fairly and justly, and to enable them to run their own lives as part of the doctrine that such an approach would help resolve many of the people’s problems.

Stressing that Iran’s establishment is geared towards enabling the people to run their own affairs and that the people are quite capable of resolving major problems such as unemployment, he said, “Even though such events are not deep-rooted, the enemy has been magnifying them to show that such issues are widespread in Iran. Islamic Republic of Iran was able neutralize the enemy’s plots within four or five days. The enemy wants to tie all of Iran’s resources into resolving domestic differences.”
