The 12th edition of SorsiCorti Short Film Festival in Italy awarded Iranian short film ‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazhari with the Best Film award, while the Best Director award went to Iranian filmmaker Arian Vazirdaftari for ‘Not Yet’.

Other Iranian titles including ‘The Servant’ by Farnoush Abedi, ‘Blows with the Wind’ by Hazhir As’adi, and ‘Flatland’ by Alireza Keimanesh and Amir Pousti also participated at the Italian festival.

Co-produced by Mazaheri and the Iranian Young Cinema Society, ‘Retouch’ is the story of a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes while she cannot do anything but to witness the unfolding of this tragic event.

Iranian short film ‘Not Yet’ directed by Arian Vazirdaftari and produced by Majid Barzegar and Iranian Youth Cinema Association was among the eight winners in the short film category of the 2017 Moondance Film Festival in Colorado, US. The film also received special mention at the short film category of Iranian Film Festival Australia.

The 12th edition of SorsiCorti Short Film Festival was held on 20-29 May 2018 in Palermo, Italy.

Mazaheri’s short film ‘Retouch’ managed to scoop the Best International Short award in competition with other top films vying at the 16th edition of Audi Dublin International Film Festival.

‘Retouch’ has recently won five top prizes at the 4th Short Movie Club Film Festival in Belarus, and the 9th session of Cinalfama Lisbon’s International Film Festival in Portugal.

The 2018 ADIFF ran from 21st February to 5th March in Dublin, Ireland.

The Fribourg International Film Festival, which has hosted other Iranian films including ‘Jila’ and ‘The Gambler’ directed by Karim Lak-Zadeh and “Ants Apartment” directed by Tofiq Amani, will screenplay another Iranian short film ‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri at the completion section.

This is the 72nd film contests that Retouch’ is featured in. In addition to the FIFF, Rutosh will compete at 10 other festivals.

The 32nd edition of Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) will be held on March 16-24, 2018 in Fribourg, Switzerland.  According to its website, the festival aims to promote quality films and thus contribute to ensuring cinematographic and cultural diversity in Switzerland as well as throughout Europe. In this spirit, it selects works essentially from Asia, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. In this respect, FIFF is the Swiss reference event and enjoys wide renown on the international scene.

‘Retouch’ grabbed Best Short Fiction, Best Directing, Best Screenplay, and Best Acting for Sonya Sanjari at the 9th session of Cinalfama Lisbon’s International Film Festival.

Mazhari’s short film has enjoyed an outstanding success this past year by having been accepted into many international film festivals and won a number of awards including the Silk Road Award at China’s Jinzhen International Short Film Festival and Best Short Film award at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival in US.

The 9th session of the festival was held in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on January 24, 2018.

‘Retouch’ is slated to vie at different festivals in China, London, Germany, Chicago and Philadelphia of USA, Adelaide of Australia, Tacoma Film Festival, Hamptons Film Festival, Tallgrass Film Festival and Italy’s Sedicicorto Film Festival.

Valladolid International Film Festival also known as Seminci is one of the most well-known festivals in the world, taking place annually in Valldolid, Spain. The 62nd edition of the event will be held from Oct. 21-28, 2017. It is one of the oldest and most consolidated festivals in the whole of Europe. It was launched on 20 March 1956 and mainly focused on religious films. But as of 1973, the festival took a turning point to host all ranges of films.

It also has received awards from renowned festivals, including Tribeca, Krakow and Palm Springs, and has been qualified as a nominee for the Academy Awards. So far, this short film has been showcased in more than ten festivals approved by the Academy.Golden Spike Award and Silver Spike Award are the major awards of the festival with cash awards of 60000 and 20000 euros respectively.
