“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers political dialogue as the solution for differences with some Arab states in the Middle East and we are ready for talks,” he said in a Monday meeting with a group of Lebanese elites in Beirut.

Larijani went on to refer to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s remarks who had expressed Iran readiness for negotiating with Saudi Arabia and other regional states earlier.

“We are close to some neighboring Arab countries and share the same notion; we do not like cutting ties and we believe that misunderstandings can be resolved through dialogue.”

“We are not escaping from dialogue but it is the others who refrain from it,” he said, adding, “America is pressuring them into refusing to talk with Iran; meanwhile, some of them hold talks and cooperate with us in secret but openly make anti-Iran remarks.”

Larijani departed Damascus for Beirut on Sunday night for a one-day visit.

Upon arrival in Beirut, he told reporters that the aim of his one-day trip to Lebanon is to meet and hold talks with his Lebanese counterpart and other officials of the country to discuss regional developments, Palestine, and bilateral ties.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s foreign minister has slammed the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan, saying history shows that foreign presence in the region has only “provided a recruiting ground for extremists.”

Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a Monday speech delivered at the Ministerial Conference of Heart of Asia Countries, which was held in the Turkish port city of Istanbul.

The Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process was established to provide a platform to discuss regional issues, particularly encouraging security, political, and economic cooperation among Afghanistan and its neighbors. This region-led dialogue was launched in November 2011 to expand practical coordination between Afghanistan and its neighbors and regional partners in facing common threats.

Addressing the conference, Zarif said, “There is no military solution in Afghanistan. The presence of foreign forces has never brought stability in our region and has historically provided a recruiting ground for extremists.”

He mentioned withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan as prerequisite for the restoration of peace to the war-torn country, saying, “Announcement of a timetable for a responsible exit of foreign troops from Afghanistan would prepare the necessary ground for the Afghan government to promote peace and reconciliation process at the national level.”

Zarif noted that Iran believed any peace initiative for Afghanistan should be launched by domestic groups and parties, adding, “In that regard, we support an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process with the participation of all political groups and factions including the Taliban with the Afghan government in the center.”

Stressing the role of neighboring countries and the UN in the establishment of peace in Afghanistan, Iran’s top diplomat said, “Taking the views of neighboring countries and considering their legitimate concerns during the process would guarantee that the peace agreement has stronger supports regionally. We believe the United Nations could become active to bring all domestic groups as well as international partners of the Afghan government under one umbrella to facilitate this process.”

Zarif also warned about “the increasing threat of Daesh in Afghanistan, which has led to more bloodshed and introduced dangerous sectarian tendencies,” noting that using such terror groups to achieve one’s own political goals would not be beneficial to parties involved in Afghanistan’s developments.

“As no one gained from introducing and supporting Daesh and other extremists in Syria and Iraq, no one will gain from introducing them to Afghanistan and Central Asia,” he said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A large Iraqi popular group, in a statement on Saturday, announced that the majority of Iraqis oppose strongly any form of gathering protesters insulting Iran in the ongoing Iraq protests.

The Ansar group (supporters) allied to Hashd al-Sha’abi warned against the negative impacts of divisive slogans by some protestors.

“The fact of protesters insulting Iran is a violation of our appreciative culture, so, remaining silent in such cases is not correct,” the group said in the statement.

“Such slogans (insulting Iran) is completely stranger to the Iraqi society,” the statement added.

“Unity and empathy among Iranian and Iraqi Arabaeen pilgrims testified clearly the position of the Iraqi people towards their Iranian brothers and sisters,” it said.

The statement further censured some Iraqi parties, officials and elites that have kept mum on such insults against Iran which has been on the side of the Iraqis, saying, “Those who take a position against any minor incident, unfortunately, have not responded to such ungratefulness.”

In the wake of recent violent protests in Iraq, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Iranians to postpone traveling to the country until further notice.

In a travel advisory issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Iranian travelers and pilgrims to put off their trip to Iraq in the wake of escalation of anti-government protests in the neighboring country.

Praising the Iraqi government and nation for their generous hospitality during the Arbaeen season, the ministry cited reports of unrest in Iraq for its decision to issue the travel warning.

Public anti-government protests have erupted in Iraq since early October. More than 230 Iraqis have reportedly been killed in the protests so far.

At least 74 people were killed in Iraq last week and hundreds wounded as demonstrators clashed with security forces in the second wave of protests against Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s government.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Turkish ambassador in Iran underscored Ankara-Tehran partnership in contributing to regional peace and stability, downplaying their minor differences of opinion.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Iran Daily, Derya Ors said Ankara-Tehran alliance together, they can play a key part in the establishment of peace and security in the region.

Turkey and Iran are two heavyweights in the region, whose alliance could eliminate problems, said the ranking diplomat.

Ors told Iran Daily on the sidelines of an event marking the 96th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey that he envisioned a brighter future in terms of increased bilateral relations for the two neighboring nations.

The ambassador added that his country deems good neighborly relations with Iran as crucial and noted, “The friendship between Turkey and Iran has historical roots and goes a long way back and we appreciate such cordiality.”

Although there are differences of opinion concerning some regional issues, said the ambassador, there are so many commonalities that prevent different viewpoints from creating obstacles.

“Therefore, the two countries’ statesmen come together on different occasions and discuss different issues.”

He also made reference to the Turkish Embassy’s invitation to Mahmoud Vaezi, the chief of staff of the Iranian president, to participate in the event and expressed his gratitude to Iranian authorities for facilitating it.

Ankara-Tehran alliance can be a role model for other countries in the region.

“The tension is not sectarian, as it appears to some; rather it is a power and influence struggle in the region between two different poles,” the Qatari spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lolwah al-khater, said in response to a question about the nature of the tension between some Arab nations and Iran, on the sidelines of a panel titled “Middle East- Is Anyone Still Looking for a Solution.” Iran News covers what Presstv reported.

Tensions in the region have been high after a series of suspicious explosions targeted oil tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz earlier this year.

Speaking during a joint press conference with the visiting Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan in Tehran earlier this month, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said no country can create insecurity in the Persian Gulf region and simply get away with it.

“If a country thinks they can create insecurity in the region without getting an answer, they are totally mistaken,” Iran’s president said.

Elsewhere in her speech, al-Khater stressed the importance of settling regional issues through independent will of all countries in the region, saying such determination should represent their collective interests and separate the accounts of international players.

She added that the ability to effectively deal with problems will increase if external interests are not taken into consideration.

Al-Khater’s remarks came a few days after Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said relations between Doha and Tehran are based on mutual interests.

Speaking at a session held within the framework of the 2019 Global Security Forum on October 15, the Qatari minister added, “Iran is a neighbor to us, and since the inception of the State of Qatar we have not seen any violent or aggressive behavior.”

He admitted that Iran and Qatar have disagreements on many regional issues, saying, “We do not endorse some of their activities, and they do not endorse some of our activities.”

“But there is an understanding that we are neighbors and we must coexist, and this relationship is based on mutual respect,” he added.

“I’m not confident that we can avoid a war. I’m confident that we will not start one,” Zarif, who is in New York to attend the UN General Assembly, said in an interview with CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ set to air Sunday.

“I’m confident that whoever starts one will not be the one who finishes it,” he highlighted.

Asked what he meant, Zarif said “That means that there won’t be a limited war.”Tensions between the US and Iran further escalated after Yemeni armed forces conducted a large-scale operation against Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil installations last Saturday, in response to the Saudi-led war on their country.

The Yemeni Ansarullah movement immediately took credit for the attacks, but US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo swiftly accused Iran of being behind the assault, without providing any evidence. Tehran categorically rejected the allegations.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia claimed on Wednesday that the strikes on its oil infrastructure came from the “north” and were “unquestionably” sponsored by Iran, adding that the Houthis were not responsible for the assault despite claiming it.

Also in a tweet about the interview which was recorded in Iranian mission because of US-imposed limitations on the Iranian minister, Zarif said he has told the host “You sell me a building, but a year later the person who inherits your company comes & says, you didn’t pay enough money, & he wants a better deal for himself & a worse one for me. In which “history”, to use Mr. Trump’s words, has someone agreed to that?”

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah comment came in a live speech on the occasion of a memorial ceremony for Sheikh Hussein Kourani, one of the initial founders of Hezbollah.

Nasrallah said that Sheikh Kourani was one of the initial founders of Hezbollah, who manifested clearly his loyalty to the path away from personal interests, according to Iran Press quoting Al-Manar TV.

Secretary-General of the Hezbollah insisted on the movement’s right to confront the Israeli drone’s attacks and said that Hezbollah is committed to the current balance of deterrence.

Nasrallah reminded the Hezbollah latest incident of confronting against Zionist regime intruding drones on Sep.09, 2019, event in which Hezbollah shot down Israeli drone outside Ramyah, southern Lebanon.

Israeli drone was targeted by Hezbollah while flying over Lebanon-Palestine border air space.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah’s power in the downing of the Israeli drone curbed the Zionist enemy’s aerial violations and vowed more responses.

“All collaborators with the Zionist enemy are traitors and must be tried in accordance with their crimes”, Secretary-General of the Hezbollah said.

Sayyed Nasrallah added that the Israeli collaborators must not be classified as “forcibly deported” because they escaped to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Sayyed Nasrallah went to say that Hezbollah and Lebanese ‘Free Patriotic Movement’ understanding does not stipulate the return of the Israeli collaborators without any trial.

Nasrallah then advised Saudi Arabia and UAE to stop the unjust war against Yemen.
