According to the latest rankings, Brazilian team (1935 points), Spain (1845 points) and Russia (1700 points) are ranked first to third in the world respectively. Portugal and Argentina stand in the fourth and fifth places and above Iran.

The national teams of Italy, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan ranked seventh to tenth respectively.

Its is not only the Iranian men’s national futsal team that are doing very well in Asian and world championships. Meanwhile, Iranian women futsal players were also crowned for the second consecutive year at the Asian Football Confederation Women’s Futsal Championships on Saturday May 12.

Webometrics report is published by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the largest research institute of Spain, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The research group evaluates the performances of the world universities based on their web presence.

According to the latest edition of their evaluation in January 2018, the top 10 universities in the world are as follows:

1.    Harvard University
2.    Stanford University
3.    Massachusetts Institute of Technology
4.    University of California Berkeley
5.    University of Michigan
6.    University of Washington
7.    University of Oxford
8.    Cornell University
9.    Columbia University New York
10.    University of Cambridge.

Moreover, eight Iranian higher education institutions are placed among the top one thousand universities of the World Ranking of Webometrics published in January 2018. Among Iranian universities, the University of Tehran ranked 455 among the world universites. Other Iranian universities rankings are: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (566), Sharif University of Thechnolgy (582), Amirkabir University of Technology (843), Tarbiat Modares Univeristy (855), Isfahan Industrial University (895), Iran University of Science & Technology Tehran (922), and Ferdowsi University (964).

“According to Iran’s Sixth Development Plan, by 2021 Iran must have 10 universities among the top ranking for the best Asian universities. At present, however, 6 universities are in the list,” Amoli said.

Iranian deputy minister of science said that according to the Sixth Development Plan, the percentage for joint publications with foreign institutions for higher education should rise to 35% and added “the proportion of foreign students compared to native ones in Iranian universities is 0.8%, which must increase to 35% by 2021.”

Iran men’s national futsal team has maintained its position as Asia’s best team and the fifth in the world rankings after Brazil, Spain, Russia, and Argentina with 1,625 points followed by Italy and Portugal, according to the FIFA rankings that came out at the end of 2017.

The 2018 AFC Futsal Championship will be the 15th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship, the biennial international futsal championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men’s national teams of Asia. It will take place in Taiwan (referred to as Chinese Taipei by the AFC), which was appointed as hosts by the AFC on 29 July 2017 between 1 and 11 February 2018. A total of 16 teams will play in the tournament.

The Iranian futsal team will compete against China, Myanmar and Iraq national teams in the third group.
