Iran’s national football team remains top in Asia in latest FIFA ranking

The national football team of Iran (Team Melli) stands at 33 and first place in the world and Asia respectively.

According to the official website of FIFA, Team Melli maintained and defended its title as the first and undisputed football team in Asian continent.

Under the tutelage of Carlos Queiroz, Team Melli managed to win 792 scores and stood at 33rd football team in the world.

It should be noted that Team Melli took a berth, as second team, in Russia 2018 World Cup competitions.

Iran basketball drop one place in FIBA rankings

Iran national basketball team dropped one place in the latest FIBA rankings released on Thursday.

Iran slid down one spot at 24th and China – the hosts of next year’s World Cup – dropped four spots at 28th.

Powerhouse Australia maintained their number 10 position in the world rankings and remain as the best team in Asian zone.

The Philippines sit fourth in Asian zone.

Iran lead Group D of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers which includes Iraq, Qatar, Kazakhstan and.

The U.S. and Spain continue to reign supreme in the world of basketball, with France, Serbia and Argentina rounding out the top five.

Iran ranks 2nd in launch tech., space infrastructure

TEHRAN – Head of the Iran’s National Space Center announced on Tuesday that Iran has ranked second in the field of launch technologies and space infrastructure in the region.

According to Manouchehr Manteghi, they, in Iran’s National Space Center, have studied and assessed different sections of the industry to reach the conclusion.

He added that after considering different criteria, they now can say that Iran ranks second in launch and space infrastructure, second in space exploration sciences, fifth in remote sensing, seventh in the telecommunications, fifth in satellite technology, finally second in navigation system in the region.

Manteghi pointed out that one of the aims of the National Space Agency is to collaborate with other countries’ aerospace organizations and centers to increase the knowledge about space and advance technologies related to space.”

Persepolis of Iran 8th in Club Asia Ranking

TEHRAN – Persepolis football team of Iran is eighth in the latest Club Asia Ranking, released by footballdatabase.com.

Iran Professional League title-holder Persepolis is the country’s sole representative in the AFC Champions League.

Branko Ivankovic’s team sits eighth in the ranking with 1560 points.

Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, who has defeated Persepolis 4-0 in the first leg of the AFC Champions League semi-final, leads the ranking with 1667 points.

South Korea’s Jeonbuk (1605), Japan’s Kashima Antlers (1605), China’s Guangzhou Evergrande (1603), Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli (1601), the UAE’s Al Ain (1582) and Kawasaki Frontale (1574) are ahead of Persepolis in the ranking.

Iran’s Esteghlal is 21th in Asia with 1498 points and Tractor Sazi sits 24th with 1494 points.

Real Madid leads the Club World Ranking with 2097 points, followed by Barcelona (2040) and Juventus (1968).

Persepolis ranks 152 in the Club World Ranking, while Esteghlal sits in 278th place and Tractor Sazi is 291st.

Iran ranks 5th with most STEM graduates

TEHRAN – In 2016, 335,000 Iranian graduates finished a degree in STEM, making Iran the fifth most science-educated country in the world, according to Forbes.

Forbes statistics for 2016 shows that 335,000 Iranian graduates finished a degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in 2016, ranking fifth after China, India, US, and Russia as the most science-educated country in the world.

China with 4.7 STEM graduates is the world’s ‘smartest’ country in the world. India with 2.6 million new STEM graduates last year is in second place while the US had 568,000, ranking third. Russia with 561,000 STEM graduates is the world’s fourth most science-educated country. Indonesia and Japan rank sixth and seventh after Iran, with 206,000 and 195,000 STEM graduates, respectively.
