TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Army unveils homemade turbojet engine, new radar . The Iranian Army Ground Force has unveiled seven domestically-developed high-tech military achievements, including air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electronic warfare devices.

The achievements developed by Iranian experts at the Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the Army Ground Force were put on display on Sunday during a ceremony in the presence of Deputy Chief of Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari.

The ceremony rolled out a radar warning system capable of detecting and jamming airborne interception radars used in drones, helicopters and fighter jets, in addition to an alarm system for detection of laser-guided weaponry and airborne threats, which can be employed against the enemy’s short-range air defense systems and has the ability to send alerts to UAV ground control stations.

The Ground Force also showcased Ranesh-1 (Propulsion-1) micro turbojet engine, which can be used in various drones, single-seat light aircraft, a wide array of missile systems, and unmanned boats.

The turbojet engine is light enough to generate high speed thrust, runs on different types of fuel, has a high service ceiling compared to piston engines, can carry payloads, and can considerably boost the flight endurance record in a variety of drones.

The other home-grown products included self-protection and drone-mounted TIAM 1400 system for detection of the enemy’s radars and air surveillance.

The system uses different frequency bands to decipher various types of air surveillance radar signals, and intelligently transmits the received signal to the jammer in order to disrupt it.

The ceremony also featured a flight system that is based on artificial intelligence and incorporates drones and a land-based Taha 1400 radar jamming system that can be carried by drones.

Taha 1400 system uses directional antennas to intelligently cover a wide area of operation, and maintains the flight safety of various drones in the enemy’s locale.

The system is smart and light, a low-voltage consumer and can be installed quickly and easily.

Finally, a land-based jamming system used for countering hostile drones and remote-controlled systems was among the new military achievements unveiled on Sunday.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great progress in indigenously developing and manufacturing a broad range of equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in this regard.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the Islamic Republic will not hesitate to build up its defense capabilities, emphasizing such abilities are entirely meant for the purpose of defense and will be never subject to negotiations.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – French army is beefing up its military presence in the Middle East, sending a radar system and an aircraft carrier to the region gripped by heightened tensions.

French officials told Reuters Friday that the country had deployed a radar system as part of the Jaguar Task Force mission on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, but declined to provide further details.

Speaking to the French military late Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron said in the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf, “where tensions are mounting, we have deployed in record time the Jaguar Task Force, which contributes to reassuring the Saudi kingdom.”

Macron also announced that France would deploy the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to join the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.

“The aircraft carrier will support Chammal operations (in the Middle East) from January to April 2020 before deploying to the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea,” he said, referring to the French component of the US-led mission in the Middle East.

“Once more our plane carrier will be the center for combined operations amongst several European countries,” he added.

Macron further noted that the nuclear-powered carrier would be escorted by a European squadron, including vessels from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Greece.

French forces would remain in the alleged fight against Daesh, he said, warning that while the terror outfit no longer holds territory, “its menace remains, in another lurking, more insidious form.”

There are some 1,000 French troops in the region, with French warplanes operating as part of the US-led coalition.

Saudi Arabia is one of the major clients of France, which is the world’s third-biggest arms exporter. The kingdom is using French tanks, artillery and Caesar howitzers in its bloody war on Yemen.

In September 2019, the UN said in a report that the US, Britain, and France may be complicit in war crimes in Yemen by arming and providing intelligence and logistics support to the Saudi-led coalition that starves Yemenis as a war tactic.

“The legality of arms transfers by France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other States remains questionable, and is the subject of various domestic court proceedings,” the report read.

In December 2019, the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which has been defending Yemen against the Saudi aggression, accused France of providing arms and logistics to the Riyadh-led coalition in addition to being complicit in war crimes in the impoverished state.

Top Houthi official Mohamed al-Houthi said France had conducted three attacks on Sa’ada Province only in December 2019, killing and wounding a total of 89 Yemenis.

He also complained that the French legal system was turning a blind eye to the fatal attacks.

Saudi Arabia and a coalition of its vassal states launched the war on Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall a Riyadh-backed former regime and eliminate the Houthis.

The offensive, coupled with a naval blockade, has killed hundreds of thousands of people and plunged Yemen into the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

On Friday, an American official said Saudi Arabia had paid the US approximately $500 million to begin to cover the cost of American troops operating in the country.

The device, built by a team from the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, is capable of spotting objects at lower temperatures and with less background noise than existing radar, according to MIT Technology Review. Though still in early stages, researchers say the quantum radar’s low energy levels could lead to better noninvasive medical imaging techniques or stealthier military technology, Futurism reported.

The trick behind this new radar is to use quantum entanglement instead of the radio waves used in radar. That allows the device to use less energy to detect nearby objects than conventional radar, according to the team’s research, which was published to the preprint server ArXiv earlier this month.

While the act of reflecting and detecting the photons as they bounce off whatever object they’re spotting destroys the quantum entanglement, according to MIT Tech Review, the photons are still associated with each other strongly enough to be discernable from background light in the area.

As a result, the quantum radar was able to detect room-temperature objects in an indoor room-temperature environment — a capability that eludes conventional high-energy radar systems.

The unveiling ceremony was held on Saturday with Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard in attendance.

The advanced radar system can track different ballistic and cruise missiles as well as UAVs. It is based on Gamma surveillance radars which were imported to the country years ago. Sanctions, lack of spare parts, and the inability of foreign engineers to repair the system led the Iranian experts at Army’s Air Defense Force to fully reconstruct the system and unveil the new system under the name of ‘Falagh’.

Falagh can connect to the integrated Air Defense Network of the country and complete the S300 radar coverage. The system, which has been overhauled with 2300 man/hours of work, will start its operation today.

“Once again, brave youth of Army Air Defense Force succeeded in overhauling another system which was out of operation for so long. They carried a heavy work which manufacturers of this system couldn’t do,” Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard said in the ceremony, noting that the radar system enjoys 400km coverage area.
