Lawmaker Ahmad Alireza Beigi explained the closed session of the Parliament which was held in the presence of the IRGC Quds Force commander Esmail Ghaani on Tuesday morning on the latest developments in neighboring Afghanistan.

“According to Gen. Ghaani, political and military experts analyze the US defeat in Afghanistan far more importantly than the U.S. defeat in Vietnam,” he said.

“The commander of the Quds Force believed that the incident took place after 20 years of US investment and the U.S. presence in Afghanistan had nothing to do with 9/11, and Washington was determined to stay in Afghanistan after the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud,” the MP added.

Alireza Beig went on to say, “Gen. Ghaani stressed that the Islamic Republic monitors the developments in Afghanistan with a view to its national interests and is interested in the fate of Afghanistan, and for this reason, from the beginning of the Soviet Union’s entry into Afghanistan, it [Iran] supported the people of this country as a religious duty.”

“According to the commander, the United States spent $300 million a day in Afghanistan, and as the U.S. president said 18 soldiers returning from Afghanistan commit suicide every day,” he added.

“Gen. Ghaani stressed that the security of Iran is important for us and the US plan is to engage Iran with the Sunni world, so the Islamic Republic must act in a way that the security of Iran is not compromised and the United States does not achieve its goals,” the MP noted.

“According to the commander of the Quds Force, the Shias of Afghanistan are very important for the Islamic Republic, and Iran is trying that the resolve of the Afghan issue not to be through war, and all the tribes of Afghanistan to participate in governing the country,” Alireza Beigi said.

General Qaani delivered a speech at the funeral of his deputy, Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi, in Iran’s central city of Isfahan on Tuesday.

General Hejazi passed away on Sunday after years of suffering from the effects of chemical weapons used during the Iraqi war of the 1980s on Iran.

He was a veteran of the Iraqi war under former dictator Saddam Hussein on Iran, which lasted eight years. After the war, he served as the commander of Iran’s Basij volunteer force for ten years and as the deputy commander of the IRGC for a year.

In his address, General Qaani said various fronts of the resistance forces, from Iran to Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen keep to the path of late Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and his followers.

Every day, the resistance forces take a fundamental action against the enemies of the Revolution and Islam, including the U.S. and the bloodthirsty Zionist regime, Qaani added.

He also emphasized that the resistance front will proceed with such a dignified course vigorously.

Qaani named Hejazi as one of the leaders fighting against the Pahlavi regime before the Islamic Revolution and one of the pioneers protecting the Islamic Revolution in the Iran-Iraq war.

He added that Cmdr. Hejazi’s bravery and measure have always been approved by Muslim world leaders including the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and the current head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haniyeh and the named leaders have condoled Leader Ayatollah Khamenei over his demise.

Emphasizing that the resistance fronts in all Islamic countries, including Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, etc., are taking basic action against the enemies every day, Qaani said commanders are being trained in the front to follow Martyrs Solemani and Hejazi.

In remarks in May 2020, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Iran will “support and assist any nation or any group who opposes and fights the Zionist regime” of Israel.

According To Iran News, The Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei said that the goal of the US in the region is to take over the world energy resources and the martyrdom of the Quds Force commander led to an international movement against the global Arrogance.

“Supporters of this movement are not just from the regional countries, but many free nations in the world know that the goal of the US in the region is to take over and steal away world energy resources so that American Colonialism can control the global trade,” he added.

“Today, we need an international movement against the presence of US in the region, this movement and the awakening will also lead to the mobilization of other countries outside the region, and ultimately end in the ousting of US from the region,” he noted.

The US terrorist forces assassinated General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) — better known as Hashd al-Sha’abi — in an attack at Baghdad’s international airport early on January 3. The Pentagon said in a statement that US President Donald Trump had ordered the attack.

Speaking to IRNA, Kamal Dehqani-Firouzabadi, the vice-chairman of the Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said members of the committee are set to review the Saturday attacks which were carried out by the U.S., UK and France.

Denouncing the raid, Dehqani-Firouzabadi said such acts will lead nowhere. “Everyone knows that the Americans did this to satisfy Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime.”
