TEHRAN (Iran News) –In recent days Ukraine has started a verbal attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and its Western allies have used this baseless claims and remarks as a pretext to increase pressure on Tehran to force it to sign the JCPOA deal which has currently come to a standstill

Ukraine as well as Western media claimed that Tehran has supplied attacking drones to Russia and they claimed that this move is against the UN Resolution Resolution which it bars Iran from any arms deal with any country by 2023 and they urged the United Nations to take action. The United States and its European allies have in recent months accused Iran of providing Russia with drones to be used in the war in Ukraine.

The Islamic Republic of Iran reacting to this media hype and claims of Ukraine and its allies has repeatedly refused these claims and Tehran believes it is new game of the West for exerting pressure on it for forcing it to give concession by signing the JCPOA revival deal.

On Monday Iran warned the United Nations against implementing the West’s “instructions” to conduct a so-called investigation in the context of Security Council Resolution 2231 to assess the type of unmanned aerial vehicles allegedly used in the current conflict in Ukraine.

The anti-Iran claims first emerged in July, with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan alleging that Washington had received “information” indicating that the Islamic Republic was preparing to provide Russia with “up to several hundred drones, including weapons-capable UAVs on an expedited timeline” for use in the war in Ukraine.

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani on Monday sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Security Council Michel Xavier Biang and Facilitator for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015) Fergal Mythen regarding the allegations, saying the “resolution itself provides no legal basis for such an investigation.”

“Iran cautions the Secretariat against conducting such an illegal investigation or engaging in any activity that advances and implements the Western States’ ‘instructions’ and urges the secretary general to prevent the conduct of any such flawed tasks by the Secretariat [and] refrain from reporting on such irrelevant requests and unsubstantiated claims in his subsequent report on the implementation of Resolution 2231,” Iravani said.

He categorically rejected all accusations against Iran contained in the letters sent by the E3 – France, Germany, and Britain – and Northern Ireland to the president of the Security Council as well as those raised by its certain members and non-members.

“It is ironic that these countries, particularly the three permanent members of the Security Council, accuse Iran of violating a specific paragraph of Security Council Resolution 2231, while they continue to be in flagrant violation of all their explicit legal obligations under that same resolution,” he said.

He also pointed out that the United States’ illegal withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is in material breach of the peremptory norms of international law, the UN Charter and Security Council Resolution 2231.

Even Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said his country is ready to discuss the Western countries’ allegations about exporting drones to Russia in a joint session with Ukrainian officials.

In response to Western countries’ claims about Iran selling drones and other military equipment to Russia to be used against Ukraine, he said, “We have not sold and will not sell any weapons and drones to be used in the war against Ukraine, and cooperation between Iran and Russia will continue without having anything to do with the Ukraine war.”

The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran and Moscow engage in various kinds of cooperation, including in the defense field, adding, “We have both received weapons from Russia and supplied weapons to Russia in the past, but not in the course of the Ukraine war.”

Now that the war in Ukraine is reaching its critical point and the JCPOA’s future is in doubt, the Western states have used Ukraine as a pawn to accuse Iran of supplying drones and even missiles to Russia in order to increase pressure on Tehran to bring it to the negotiation table and giving concession.

Tehran strongly refutes such baseless claims because it is courage enough to take responsibility of its actions and it does not need to hide it like what the West does through hiding behind Ukraine.

And Ukraine is recommended to settle its account with Russia and not to involve Iran in this war because Tehran has always been opposed to any war because it believes war in any part of the world will destabilize global peace and economic condition as we now see the consequences of Ukraine-Russia war that has worsened economies and energy in the world.

So it is better the West and Ukraine to resolve their problems with Russia instead of involving other states in this devastating war which will have no real winner, and both parties and above all Europe are the genuine losers and the world suffers from consequence of this war.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani lashed out at the US administration over the imposition of “inhumane sanctions” and the so-called maximum pressure on the country, saying the White House is “responsible” for committing “the worst atrocities” against the Iranian nation.

“The Americans stopped the entry of medicine and food to our country through illegal and inhumane sanctions as well as terrorist operations. We have never seen people with such level of barbarism at the White House. They committed the worst atrocities,” Rouhani said at a meeting of the National Headquarters for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus in Tehran.

He saved special criticism for US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“A gentleman who presents himself as the minister of foreign affairs but who is (in reality) the minister of crimes,” Rouhani said.

He also censured the US administration for blocking Iran’s efforts to receive a $5b loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in April to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

“The Americans have inflicted tens of millions of dollars of damage on Iran” the president said.

Rouhani told the domestic critics of the government that they must not give a “wrong address” to Iranian people about the shortages of medicine and emergency supplies in the country.

“The correct address for all the crimes and pressure on the dear people of Iran is the White House in Washington, D.C.,” he said. “And those who are inside that building have committed all these crimes against the Iranian people, and you can see that there is pressure and problems on a daily basis.”

“Our people stood firm and resisted, did not knit their brows and did not bow to these bullies,” Rouhani said.

Stressing that the Iranian people should direct their anger at the White House, the president said, “I have no doubt that the US government will one day surrender and kneel before the Iranians and that the Iranian nation will be victorious.”

Rouhani also said Washington is angry with the Iranian government’s appropriate management of the coronavirus outbreak despite draconian sanctions imposed on the country.

Iran, the hardest-hit country by the new coronavirus pandemic in the Middle East, has been almost on its own fighting the disease as sanctions have seriously hampered its access to drugs and vital medical equipment needed to contain the virus.

Tehran has repeatedly said it does not seek Washington’s help in the fight, but wants the White House to lift the illegal economic sanctions so that Iran could mobilize its own resources to tackle the pandemic.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have soared since US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew in 2018 from the Iran nuclear deal struck by his predecessor and began reimposing sanctions that had been eased under the accord.

Washington imposed new sanctions on Monday on Iran’s Defense Ministry and others involved in its nuclear and missile programs. The UN Security Council rejected the US bid to reinstate all UN sanctions against Tehran.

Press TV, AFP and Reuters contributed to this story.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet session on Wednesday, Zarif said while the August 4 explosion in Beirut has shocked the entire world, the United States is keeping the sanctions on Lebanon despite the coronavirus outbreak and the blast tragedy.

The top Iranian diplomat also noted that any group might try to take political advantage of the incident, but such attempts have failed until now.

In the cabinet session held minutes earlier, President Hassan Rouhani reiterated Iran’s readiness to assist Lebanon after the explosion by providing medical supplies and helping reconstruct its devastated port.

Governor of Beirut says more than 200 people are believed to have been killed as a result of the August 4 blast, which occurred when a stockpile of more than 2,000 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Iranian nation has proved to be powerful enough to deal with the pressures of sanctions and the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, President Hassan Rouhani said, reminding the enemies that Iranians will never be brought to their knees.

Addressing a Saturday session of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, Rouhani said the great Iranian nation has proved that it has enough power and capability to deal with the pressures by withstanding the heightened sanctions over the past two years and a couple of months and tackling the coronavirus disease during the past five months.

“This great nation has proved very well that it will never be brought to its knees in the face of the enemies’ pressures and excessive demands,” he underlined, saying the Iranian people can address every problem with determination, cooperation, and rapport.

He also described Iran’s resistance to the US government’s bullying policies as a reflection of the “culture of Ashura”, stressing that Iranians will commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shiite Imam, in compliance with the health protocols.

The mourning events in commemoration of Imam Hussein (AS) must be held across the country magnificently and in strict conformity with the health protocols to contain the spread of COVID-19, the president underlined.

This year, the mourners must wear face masks, observe the social distancing regulations, and refrain from forming crowds, Rouhani added.

The mourning ceremonies in the lunar month of Muharram (to start on August 21) must be held with detailed planning in Iran, in such a way that they would not provide any pretext for the enemies and that the rituals would become a model for other countries and Shiite Muslims who hold mourning ceremonies in commemoration of Imam Hussein (AS), the president said.

In remarks on Thursday, Rouhani said a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in Iran has been a result of insufficient attention to the health protocols, not the resumption of economic and social activities.

The surge in the COVID-19 cases was a result of failure to observe the health regulations fully and strictly, he said, adding that the assumption that the virus has gotten weaker and the move to hold gatherings and parties, such as wedding ceremonies and mourning events, resulted in a rise in the infection cases.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi said Tue. that US pressure on Iran has reached its peak and the Nov. sanctions on Iran’s oil and banking sector will not ramp up the severity of the pressure any more than it is now.

“We will not witness more intensified sanctions than what has been imposed so far by Americans on November 14,” Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday evening in an interview with Iranian state TV IRIB 4.

“Americans are now executing the most amount of sanctions against Iran. They are going from one company to another, from one country to another, or even they go from an individual to another to force them into cutting off cooperation with Iran,” he added.

In response to a question regarding the concerns that exist in Iran on the Europeans’ unwillingness to take practical steps to resist US sanctions after its withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), the Iranian deputy foreign minister said that “our talks with Europe are tight and intense, but we believe we should separate their political positions from the practical steps that they want to offer.”

He acknowledged that the Europeans have not taken practical steps to implement the JCPOA, stressing Iran has not solely relied on the talks with them, since there is always the possibility that they might be killing time.

Araghchi noted that Iran has given Europe until November 5, on which another batch of US sanctions is set to take full effect, to deliver their ‘practical mechanisms’.

He stressed that the Iranian side has made it clear to the Europeans that they will have to provide the country with their ‘practical mechanisms’ to translate their political statements into action before the US new batch of sanctions take effect in November.

In response to a question about the exit of European companies from Iran’s market, he said that those companies are private companies that have left Iran based on their own cost and benefit analysis.

Elsewhere, he maintained that the talks with Europeans are only focused on the implementation of the JCPOA and Iran’s missile program has never been on the agenda.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Mohammad Javad Jamali denounced recent anti-Tehran remarks made by French President Emmanuel Macron and said Iranian officials should be vigilant against coordination between France and the US to pressure the Islamic Republic.

He said France’s policies have been in line with those of the Zionist regime of Israel, adding that in the nuclear negotiations before reaching the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Paris adopted the worst stance and played the bad cop.

The parliamentarian further emphasized that French officials should be aware that Iran’s missile program is not negotiable.

Jamali underlined that the missile program poses no threat to any country and is only for deterrence and defense.

Earlier this month, Macron suggested amending the JCPOA, despite eight International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports that have confirmed Iran’s full compliance with the agreement.

The Iranian nuclear agreement “must be preserved” but “complemented with two pillars,” Macron said during his visit to the United Arab Emirates on November 9.

Later in the day, Macron made a surprise visit to Saudi Arabia, where he said he was “very concerned” by Iran’s ballistic missile program. “There are extremely strong concerns about Iran. There are negotiations we need to start on Iran’s ballistic missiles,” he said in Riyadh.

TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif praised the country’s security situation and military might, saying that in spite of foreign pressures and regional conflicts, the Islamic Republic is enjoying exceptional security and power.

Today, if one takes a look at countries around Iran, he cannot find a country that enjoys the level of security seen in the Islamic Republic despite all foreign pressures, Zarif said in meeting with a gathering of Iranian expatriates living in South Africa on Monday.

“All countries around us are under the protection umbrella of one or more superpowers,” he said, adding that countries around Iran either have nuclear weapons or are supported by a nuclear superpower.

However, none of those countries enjoy the security situation that Iran does, the top diplomat went on to say.

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

However, Iran is considered by many experts as the “island of stability” in a region which faces many security challenges.

In August 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the strong security in Iran despite crises and insecurity in the region.

“Thank God and through the appreciated efforts and endeavors of the military and security forces, the country enjoys a strong security shield while regional countries are filled with incidents and insecurity,” the Leader said.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, have reportedly agreed to exert extra pressure on North Korea.

South Korea’s presidential office spokesman Park Soo-hyun said on Sunday that Moon and Trump had in a Sunday telephone conversation strongly condemned the latest missile launch by North Korea and agreed to work with the international community to implement the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s latest resolution against Pyongyang.

“The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation, and exert stronger and practical sanctions on North Korea so that it realizes provocative actions lead to further diplomatic isolation and economic pressure,” he said.

UNSC resolution 2375

On Monday, the UNSC unanimously voted to adopt new sanctions against North Korea over its missile and nuclear activities. The resolution, drafted by the US, was the eighth against Pyongyang over its ballistic missile and nuclear programs since 2006.

The new sanctions against Pyongyang would cut 90 percent of the country’s yearly trade and 30 percent of its annual oil imports.

On Friday, North Korea fired a medium-to-long range Hwasong-12 missile over Japan a few hours after it threatened to “sink” its southeastern neighbor. The missile flew for about 20 minutes before crashing into the Pacific Ocean about 2,000 kilometers east of Japan’s Hokkaido.

It had fired another missile over Japan days earlier.

North Korea says its missile and nuclear programs are meant to defend it against US hostility. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un recently said he sought “equilibrium” in military power with the US.

The US, an ally of Japan that has extensive military presence in the region, has reacted harshly to North Korea’s missile launches in particular and the weapons programs in general.

Tensions have significantly increased in recent months, and Russia, China, France, Iran, and the UN have called for dialog to resolve the issue.

The crisis is expected to dominate the annual high-level UN General Assembly agenda this week. The UN’s secretary general is scheduled to hold talks with representatives from all the sides to the conflict, including with North Korea’s Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho.
