President Pezeshkian: Iran–Turkey convergence is key to managing regional crises

TEHRAN (Iran News) President Pezeshkian made the remarks in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Tehran on Sunday night.

He noted that lasting security emerges when Islamic countries, with a shared will, allow the flow of trade, knowledge, and culture to replace grounds for tension and foreign interference.

Iran’s president emphasized that cooperation, trade, and cultural exchange between Muslim nations can pave the way for lasting security and development, stressing that borders through which “commerce, science, and culture flow” will never become corridors for terrorism or arms.

Highlighting the deep historical, cultural, and fraternal ties between Tehran and Ankara, President Pezeshkian described bilateral relations as “rooted, genuine, and rich in potential for expansion.”

He added that if Muslim countries act with a unified will—based on solidarity, convergence, and the exchange of experience—no external power will be able to create problems for their nations.

The president attributed part of the region’s current crises to “plots and the fueling of divisions by interventionist actors,” noting that such forces seek to impose misguided policies on the region and obstruct the progress of Islamic countries.

Pointing to Europe’s experience in overcoming centuries of conflict and forming joint political and financial structures, Pezeshkian said: “The Islamic world, with its far deeper cultural and civilizational commonalities, can certainly move toward collective development by setting aside differences and strengthening the flow of trade, knowledge, and culture.”

He emphasized the sensitivity of the current situation in the Islamic world, and said: “At a time when the common enemies of Muslim nations are intensifying pressure, Islamic countries should facilitate conditions for one another and refrain from complicating matters. We are brothers, and we must expand our relations. We believe that from borders where commerce, science, and culture pass, terrorism and weapons will never pass.”

During the meeting, Hakan Fidan conveyed warm greetings from Turkey’s president and delivered a special message underscoring the need to expand commercial, economic, and regional cooperation between the two countries.

Praising Pezeshkian’s sincerity and concern for the Islamic world, Fidan said: “We fully share these views, and we believe that internal divisions have wasted valuable time for the Islamic world. Today, the spirit of the era demands collective and joint cooperation.”

The Turkish foreign minister stressed that now is the time for Islamic nations to elevate their cooperation through coordinated and equal action, noting that countries such as Iran and Turkey—together with other Muslim nations—can remove the heavy burden of division from the path of the Islamic Ummah.

Referring to developments in Iran, Fidan added: “We acknowledge that after the victory of the Revolution, Iran has moved forward with remarkable speed and dynamism, like an arrow released from a bow.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the significance of connecting Iran and Iraq’s rail transport networks as a vital aspect of bilateral cooperation.

President Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji and his delegation in Tehran on Tuesday.

Pezeshkian stated that accelerating the implementation of this project by the Iraqi government would not only strengthen trade, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries but also facilitate broader connections among regional nations and enhance economic ties.

President Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations between Iran and Iraq, noting that the continued expansion of these ties could foster enhanced cooperation in security, economic, scientific, and cultural fields, not only bilaterally but also in interactions with other Islamic countries.

Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of regular diplomatic exchanges and visits between officials from both nations, which will increase mutual understanding and create a shared perspective on bilateral, regional, and international issues.

He further stressed the need for unity among Islamic nations, asserting that such cohesion would thwart plots by the United States and the Israeli regime against the region’s peoples.

The connection of the rail transport network was described by Pezeshkian as one of the most important collaborative efforts between Iran and Iraq.

He noted that the completion of this railway network and the establishment of joint free trade zones would enhance regional security and spur economic growth.

From a broader perspective, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to viewing all people of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region as brothers, regardless of ethnic or religious divisions.

He underscored that the strength and dignity of the Islamic community lie in fostering brotherly ties and avoiding internal conflicts instigated by adversaries.

The Iraqi official expressed his pleasure at meeting with the Iranian president, stating that the security of Iran and Iraq is inseparable.

He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to the security treaty between the two nations and emphasized that the borders between Iran and Iraq should be among the safest in the region.

Al-Araji described the rail network connection as a strategic initiative that would promote economic and political convergence between the two countries, assuring that the Iraqi government firmly supports this project.

He also noted that a historic opportunity has arisen for establishing security cooperation among regional countries, which could pave the way for broader economic and political interactions.

Rebar Ahmed Khalid Barzani, Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet the Iranian president and acknowledged the positive impact of President Pezeshkian’s visit to the region on political and public levels.

Today, the Iranian youth, in all international events, respect Iran’s flag with pride and sing the national anthem, he said.

The enemy assumes it can create problems for Iran with sanctions and snapbacks, he said, adding that such problems make the nation stronger and more resilient, he noted. “unity ‘

Iran has no quarrel with anyone, but it will not surrender to pressure and sanctions either, Pezeshkian said.

Referring to the government’s efforts to expand cooperation with neighbors, he said establishing interactions with 17 neighboring states is enough for Iran to neutralize sanctions.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar says that President Masoud Pezeshkian will soon make an official visit to Islamabad.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya on the sidelines of his visit to New York, Ishaq Dar said Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit Pakistan and expressed hope this trip will take place in early August.

Pakistan supports diplomacy and a wise approach in the region and welcomes all efforts toward de-escalation and dialogue with Iran, he added.

He said that he was in close contact with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, adding that because Pakistan is a neighbor of Iran, it cannot remain silent regarding recent events, including the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

He condemned the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran and the U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying Pakistan cannot remain indifferent to a wrongful act, even if it is carried out by a friendly country.

Diplomacy and dialogue are the only way out of the current situation, and Pakistan will continue to support both sides, he said.

He affirmed that Pakistan’s high-level efforts for any mediation aimed at advancing regional diplomacy.

Earlier Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said President Pezeshkian is to visit Pakistan, adding that it demonstrates the importance we attach to bilateral relations with Pakistan.

TEHRAN (Iran News) President Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran still believes the window of diplomacy is open and remains committed to pursuing a peaceful path.

In a post on X Monday night, Pezeshkian wrote, “To open up new horizons, we must look at the past with a critical eye. What will lead us to a better future is the rebuilding of hope, readiness to learn, change, and building a new path with unity, empathy, and rationality.”

He added, “We continue to believe the window of diplomacy is open and are seriously pursuing this peaceful course.”

In another post, Pezeshkian referred to the Israeli regime’s war of aggression against Iran as a test of national unity.

“Despite the psychological pressures and difficulties imposed on our nation, we witnessed one of the rarest displays of public participation, consensus, and social cohesion in Iran’s contemporary history,” he said.

“Iranians, whether at home or abroad, critics or not, stood as one against the invading enemy.”

Israel attacked Iran in an unprovoked act of aggression on June 13, assassinating military commanders and nuclear scientists in targeted strikes and killing civilians in air raids on residential areas. The war came amid ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington on Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
