]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) –Amir Jafari won Iran’s third gold medal at the 12th Dubai 2022 Para Powerlifting World Cup on Friday.

The 2020 Paralympics silver medalist seized the gold with a lift of 198kg in the Up to 65kg weight category.

Powerlifters from Algeria and Chile won silver and bronze medal with 197kg and 191kg, respectively.

Rouhollah Rostami in the Up to 80kg and Mohsen Bakhtiar in the Up to 59kg classes have previously won two gold medals for Iran in the competition underway in the UAE.

Around 200 lifters from 36 nations are in action at the Dubai Club for People of Determination at the Fazza 12th Dubai 2022 Para Powerlifting World Cup.

]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) –The competition will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia from May 20 to 23.

Iran has earned six spots for the Paralympic Games.

The 2021 Para Power lifting World Cup will be one of the final qualification events for athletes aspiring to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The 16th Summer Paralympic Games are scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan between 24 August and 5 September 2021.

]]> TEHRAN – Nader Moradi from Iran claimed a gold medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico City early Tuesday.

In the men’s up to 72kg, London 2012 champion Moradi took gold following a 209kg lift ahead of compatriot and Paralympic silver medalist Roohollah Rostami, who cleared the bar at 208kg.

China’s Rio 2016 silver medalist Hu Peng had high expectations in the lead-up to Mexico City 2017 but had to settle for bronze.

He lifted 208kg, the same as Rostami, but ended third due to his higher body weight.

Iran’s Amir Jafari Arangeh and Yousef Yousefi had already claimed silver and bronze medals respectively in the 59kg category.
