TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the country’s next budget bill for the coming fiscal year has been designed to counter US sanctions and that it is not much reliant on oil revenues.

“Our budget for the next year, like the current year, will be based on resistance against sanctions; the budget’s message is that we will manage the country despite all sanctions,” he said on Sunday in the open session of the Parliament.

“Next year’s budget is not much reliant on oil. Anticipated revenues for oil and gas sales are close to the required budget for civil projects,” he said, adding that 700 trillion rials (some $5.3 billion) have been allocated to such projects.

Rouhani was at the Parliament to submit the next year’s budget bill.

“We were under the toughest sanctions last year; we promised that the administration, with the support of the resistant Iranian nation and other organizations, would make every effort to provide and implement the budget and this has been realized by now,” Rouhani said.

Nine months have passed since the year 1398 and all the daily budgets have been provided, he said, adding that 340 trillion rials (some $2.6 billion) have been allocated to civil projects. “Major projects have either been inaugurated or will be by the year-end.”

“All this has been realized while Americans and Zionists thought that sanctions would cripple the government, but they gave up on that and will keep being disappointed in the future,” Rouhani said.

Minister of Interior issued on Sunday morning the permission to begin the process of registering candidates for the parliamentary election. Applicants can apply for the registration until Saturday, Dec. 7 in their cities’ governorates.

According to estimates, some 7,000 individuals will register across the country, said Deputy Interior Minister Jamal Aref on Saturday. Reformists, Principalists, and independents will probably constitute 26%, 33%, and 40% of the whole candidates respectively, he said in a press conference.

Also, midterm elections of the Assembly of Experts will be held in five provinces of Tehran (3 representatives), North Khorasan (1 rep.), Khorasan Razavi (1 rep.), Qom (1 rep.), and Fars (1 rep.) concurrent with the parliamentary election.

The election for the 11th Majlis (Parliament) will be held on February 21 across the country.

“Elections are prerequisite for democracy,” government Spokesman Ali Rabiei tweeted earlier.

Government spokesman once again reiterated, “our nation will say “Iran” once again in current year’s parliamentary elections and will give a response to the US sanctions in the polling stations.”

It should be noted that Iran’s upcoming Parliamentary Election will be held on Feb. 21, 2020.
