<p class="summary introtext">Iranian table tennis player Noshad Alamian won a bronze medal in men’s single event after 52 years at 2018 Asian Games.</p>

<p>Alamian suffered a 0-4 defeat to China’s Gaoyuan Lin, who has the world rank of 4, in the semifinal and achieved the bronze medal for Iran. The last medal of Iran in singles’ event of Asian Games goes back to 1966, where Houshang Bozorgzadeh won a bronze medal.</p>
<p>Alamian defeated Vietnam’s Anh Tu Nguyen 4-1 in the round of 32 before winning South Korea’s Young Sik Jeoung 4-3 in one of the most thrilling matches of round of 16. The Iranian athlete then proved his quality by gaining a 4-1 victory over Hong Kong’s Chun Ting Wong, who holds the world rank of 10.</p>
<p>In the other match of the semifinal, world No 1 player Fan Zhendong from China won South Korea’s Sangsu Lee to face his countryman in the final which will be held today at 5 PM, Jakarta’s local time.</p>
<p>2018 Asian Games is underway in Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang and will officially wrap up on September 2.</p>

<p>The competitions will be held on August 13 to 18 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.</p>
<p>Iranian boys’ team consists of Amin Ahmadian, Arya Amiri, Amirreza Abbasi, Vahid Shams, Mohammad Mousavi, Radin Khayyam and Mohammad Amin Samadi.</p>
<p>Also, Mahshid Ashtari, Shima Safaie, Melika Karami, Kimia Rostami and Saba Seraji will face rivals in girls’ competition.</p>
<p>Earlier, Iran table tennis team won the Junior Boys’ Team title at the 2018 Tunisia Junior Open in Rades on March 20 with the partnership of Amin Ahmadian and Amirreza Abassi. Amin Ahmadian, also, won the Men’s Singles title at the Road to Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games on March 26.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span class="intro-text">Iranian table tennis players Nima Alamian concluded his initial itinerary with success against his Chinese opponent and will now advance to the quarter-finals at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Asian Cup.</span></p>

<p>Competing in the regional group, Nima Alamian beat Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Al-Abbad in three straight games (11-3, 11-8, 11-8) to end the first day of the competitions unbeaten and in first place. He went on to defeat his Chinese opponent Chuang Chih-Yuan 3 to 1 on Saturday, thus reserving a place in the quarter-finals.</p>
<p>He will next take on Lee Sang-su from South Korea later today.</p>
<p>The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Asian Cup kicked off in Japan’s Yokohama on Friday with 16 top Asian tennis players competing in the men and women categories.</p>
<p>Noshad Alamian and Neda Shahsavari were the two other Iranian athletes competing in the tournament, but they did not manage to conclude their initial itinerary with success.</p>
<p>The challenge round followed by quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played on Saturday 7th April.</p>

<p>Mohammad Amin Samadi won the title in the Hopes division. One more gold trophy was collected by Fatemeh Jamalifar and Mahshid Ashtari who competed in Girls’ singles.</p>
<p>Silver medalists of the Iranian caravan comprised Parinaz Hajilou, Mahshid Ashtari, Fatemah Jamalifar, Shima Safaei, Amin Ahmadian, Amirreza Abbasi, Hamid Shams as well as Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Taher.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Parinaz Hajilou also managed to bring home bronze medal of Girls’ Singles in the Junior age group.</p>
<p>The Portuguese Table Tennis Federation had invited 30 International Umpires to officiate at the 2017 Portugal Junior and Cadet Open.</p>
<p>An ITTF World Junior Circuit tournament, staged at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Guimarães, play commenced on Wednesday 22nd November and concluded on Saturday 25th November.</p>
