Amin Mahdavi won the Gold Medal of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) for his “Bold” in the Open – Monochrome category, the organizers have announced.

This photo shows an Iranian nomad boy carrying a kid on his shoulders.

In this category, the Gold Medal of the Belarusian Club of Art Photography (BCAP) went to Ebrahim Bahrami for “Coalminers”, which depicts several desperate Iranian coalminers.

In addition, Ahmad Khatiri received a FIAP Honorable Mention for “Flying Harmony” in this section.

In the Nature (color or monochrome) section, the MoL Gold Medal was presented to Amin Dehqan for “Khara Desert”, a picture of sand dunes in the Khara Desert near the central Iranian city of Isfahan.

In the Water (color or monochrome) category, Kaveh Manafzadeh won a BCAP Honorable Mention for “Water Tracer”.

The FIAP Blue Badge for Best Author went to Birgit Pustelnik from Germany and the MoL Golden Badge was awarded to Alexander Ivanov from Bulgaria.

A selection of the entries to the event will be showcased at exhibitions, which are scheduled to open in Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Belarus on August 25.

All the IAF galleries have been dedicated to photos taken by members of photographers’ associations on a variety of subjects such theater, cinema and cultural heritage.

“There is a home here for all art associations, and each association can have its share of this exhibition,” IAF director Majid Rajabi-Memar said at an opening ceremony held for the event.

“I hope the meetings and workshops arranged for the exhibition can help promote the art of photography in Iran,” he added.

The Cultural Heritage Photographic Society of Iran is attending the exhibit with photos of the wind towers in ancient Iranian architecture and Iran’s Association of Revolution and Sacred Defense Photographers have hung photos on the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

The organizers have dedicated a special section for photographers from the regions of Khorasan and West Azarbaijan.

Ahmad Khatiri won the FIAP Gold Medal for his single photo “Prayer and Mourning for the Martyrdom of Their Fathers in War Zones” in the Photojournalism Section.

In this section, Seyyed Omid Alavi received the SALON Gold Medal for “War”, while Saeid Arabzadeh won the Master of Light Photographic Association (MOL) Bronze Medal for “Sorrow” and Mostafa Mirtaleb was presented the Photographic Society of America (PSA) Bronze Medal for “Betting”.

Mirtaleb also received the SALON Bronze Medal for “Caspian Sea” in the Open Monochrome Section and FIAP Blue Ribbon for “Snowy Mountain” in the Nature Section.

Arabzadeh was also awarded with the International Association of Art Photographers (IAAP) Gold Medal for his photo “Ghazaleh” in the Nature Section.

Abdolmoeid Marufi, Davud Ameri and Reza Fathi-Moqadam received honorable mentions.

In addition, the Master of Light Gold Badge for the best photo was awarded to Shiva Mohammadi for her photo “Bring Me the Color of the Night”.

The award-winning photos will be showcased in an exhibition at the Lumiere’s Beam Gallery in Kragujevac from December 25 to January 10, 2018.

The contest was organized by the Kragujevac Photo Club.
