Magno Batista da Silva Joins Iran’s Paykan

Magno Batista da Silva joined Iranian top-flight football club Paykan.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder has joined Paykan on a one-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Magno Batista came off the bench in a warm-up match against Pars Jonoubi on Sunday.

The Brazilian player started his playing career at Brazilian club Centro Sportivo Alagoano and has also played at Atlético Juventus, Grêmio Barueri, Santo André and Novo Hamburgo.

Magno Batista joined Damash Gilan in 2011 and has also played in Iranian clubs Naft Tehran, Gostaresh Foolad and Sanat Naft.

Paykan to represent Iran at Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN – Paykan will represent Iran at the 2018 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Kazakhstan in May.

Paykan won Iranian Volleyball Super League after defeating Tehran in three sets to lift the cup at the Khaneh Volleyball.

The Iranian team have been pitted against hosts Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam in Pool B.

Pool A consists of Thailand, Japan and China and the Philippines, Indonesia, Fiji and Sri Lanka are in Pool C.

The AVC Club Volleyball Championship is an international sports competition for club volleyball teams, currently held annually and organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the Asian volleyball federation.

From the year of 2004, the names of AVC Club Tournaments changed from “AVC Cup Men’s/Women’s Club Tournaments” to “Asian Men’s/Women’s Club Volleyball Championship”.

The tournament will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship with the champions qualifying for the world championship.

Paykan Misses Chance to Move Iran League Top

Paykan football team lost to Esteghlal Khuzestan and missed a chance to provisionally go top of the Iran Professional League (IPL).

On Friday, Esteghlal Khuzestan defeated visiting team Paykan 1-0 thanks to a goal from Claudir in the 73rd minute.

Furthermore, Sanat Naft earned a late 3-2 victory against Sepahan and Padideh defeated Naft Tehran 3-1 in Mashhad.

The match between Tractor Sazi and Sepidrood was suspended due to the heavy snow.

On Saturday, Zob Ahan will host Foolad, Pars Jonoubi play Persepolis in the week’s most thrilling match, Saipa meet Siahjamegan, Esteghlal host Gostaresh Foolad and Tractor Sazi play Sepidrood.

Paykan Stuns Persepolis at Azadi Stadium

TEHRAN – Persepolis football team suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Paykan in Iran Professional League (PL) on Sunday.

In the match held at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Morteza Aghakhan found the back of the net from the set piece in the 4th minute.

Soon after, Persepolis dominated the match and created several chances but its strikers failed to score.

“We are so happy because we defeated one of the best teams in Asia. I congratulate my players for their great performance against Persepolis,” Paykan coach Majid Jalali said in the post-match news conference.

Persepolis is second, three points behind IPL leader Pars Jonoubi Jam.
