TEHRAN – Head of Mostazafan Foundation says that during sanctions and Coronavirus pandemic, the performance of this Foundation has been excellent.

Speaking during the annual performance report of the foundation, Parviz Fattah outlined that the Mostazafan Foundation is in full coordination with the government, and the new parliament, the judiciary, the armed forces, and other organizations.

“During the Coronavirus outbreak, alongside the government, officials, and people, the Foundation is active by spending 1,800 billion Tomans so far, and this process continues. It has also helped the Ministry of Health with medical equipment, masks, disinfectants, and ambulances,” Parviz Fattah noted.

“According to Fattah, in the first phase, 600,000 packages have been delivered, and in the second phase, another 500,000 packages will be delivered. Also, 100,000 packages have been distributed in Tehran province and surrounding cities,” he said.

He added that total sales of the Foundation have been 36,000 billion Tomans and its profit from grass production is 7,000 billion Tomans aiming to eradicate deprivation in the last Iranian year (starting on March 21, 2019).

“Over the past year, 380,000 tons of free cement were provided to those affected by natural disasters and it still continues,” he added.

“During this year and the next year, 22,000 billion Tomans of Mostaszafan Foundation resources will be invested in steel, livestock affairs, and industrial sectors,” the official added.

“In the oil sector, many foreign companies have stopped working due to the sanctions, but the Foundation has built two rigs worth $ 400 million that can be completed by foreigners and has a contract with the Ministry of Oil to make any exploration,” Fattah said.

“In the field of steel, the second phase of Kaveh Steel in Bandar Abbas and Shahid Rajaei port, which the Foundation has invested 5000 billion Tomans, is ready for operation. It will add 1.2 million tons to the country’s steel production,” he said.

He also rejected allegations that the foundation will funnel its money during the next presidential election, reiterating no money from the foundation will enter the election. Fattah said that the foundation since its first day of establishment has not been involved in the politics and it will do its best to avoid any money from the foundation to be injected in the election.

Fattah noted that the foundation has applied to enter the oil projects in the country since foreign companies left the oil projects in the country, adding that it has been welcomed by the oil ministry and currently the foundation is involved in construction of two platforms and it is also involved in oil well drilling.

He reiterated that all activities of the foundation is transparent and it has never escaped paying tax.

Fattah is said to be one of the contenders in the next presidential election.

TEHRAN – Head of Mostazafan Foundation Mr. Parviz Fattah says he will not run for presidency in the upcoming presidential election.

Speaking at a press conference, Fattah reiterated that he would not definitely run for the presidency, adding that he is more focused on his job in the foundation.

He also hailed his predecessor in the foundation Mr. Saeedi Kia, adding that the foundation owes its progress to him.

Fattah went on to say that he takes advantage of experience of former heads of the foundation.

On the revenues of the foundation in the past nine months, he said that there has been no change in revenues or management in the said period, adding that the total sales of the foundation in the past nine months stood at 26,000b tomans which is ahead of the schedule.

Fattah said that the foundation has 174 registered companies and 169 out of them are currently active. He admitted that 36 companies are loss-making and the reason for it is the fluctuation in the forex rate.

He reiterated that the foundation is not exempted from taxes and it paid 670b tomans of tax in 2017. He noted that the tax for this year would reach 1,000b tomans.

Fattah went on to say that all incomplete projects will be completed, adding that Tehran-North Freeway and Plasco Building are of major projects of the foundation which should be completed.

He added that the foundation has had laid off some of its employees and all salaries have been paid on time and he is determined to stop more lay-offs in the foundation.

Fattah said that some 45,000 people are busy in the foundation. He also pointed to his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, adding that the foundation will be in full harmony with the government.

He reiterated that the foundation does not rival with the private sector and it is not also a parallel body to the government and the foundation will soon leave the small businesses.

Fattah also said that the foundation is to build 14,000 houses for the households with two disabled members and the houses will be submitted to the applicants.

He once again reiterated that there is no secret issue in the foundation and all supervisory bodies inspect activities of the foundation.

He noted that 31 companies of the foundation have been listed in the stock market and the process will continue for other companies.

Fattah stated that the foundation is not interested in mall business and it just tries to finish incomplete mall projects in order to save its capital.

He further said that the foundation is determined to complete the Tehran-North Freeway and it is expected the first part of it to be inaugurated in February.

Last year, the foundation allocated some 24 trillion rials (nearly $570 million) for job creation for 135,000 people, IRIB quoted Parviz Fattah as saying on Sunday.

Boosting job creation is one of the primary objectives of the foundation which will be accomplished by soliciting support from parliament and the banks, Fattah highlighted.

The Tehran province’s office of the foundation has created some 6,000 jobs and granted loans amounting to 700 billion rials (nearly $16.5 million) to the families who are in financial distress in the province over the past Iranian calendar year.

The director general of Tehran province’s office of the foundation, Mohsen Valiee, has explained that the money was granted to the families to help them create jobs. “The sum is not very considerable but it has enabled some families to start small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).”

Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation is a charitable organization, founded in March 1979, after the Islamic Revolution, to provide support for families who are struggling financially. The aim is to help such families regain financial stability.
