Esteghlal Beats Pars Jonoubi

Esteghlal football team defeated Pars Jonoubi 2-0 in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Wednesday.

In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Emad Mirjavan scored an own goal in the 11th minute.

Esteghlal was awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute but Vouria Ghaffouri’s strike was saved by Rahman Ahmadi.

South African midfielder Ayanda Patosi made it 2-0 in the 38th minute.

“I am very happy because we defeated a strong team. However, we could have scored the third goal,” Esteghlal coach Winfried Schaefer said in the post-match news conference.

Esteghlal sits fifth in IPL table with 31 points, seven points behind leader Sepahan.

FC Lokomotiv Moscow became the first team to seal the Mundialito throne for the second occasion, following their narrow win over Iranian side Pars Jonoubi in the final of the competition.

Despite bagging a wide advantage in the first period, the 2012 champions saw their opponents react and climb back, pulling two goals back to stay just one goal down, beachsoccer.com reported.

Ozu tried to cut the Iranian wings with the 4-2, but Akbari immediately had his team believing again with a stunning free kick missile.

Lokomotiv were feeling confident, though, and managed the situation doubling the distance once again, with Nikonorov’s 5-3.

Pars Jonoubi found it hard to find the tournament’s best goalkeeper’s nets again, but Mesigar cut the distance in half for the third time for his team. Despite they tried hard, the equalizer never came for Pars Jonoubi’s whose reaction fell one goal short, and Lokomotiv prevailed as the champions of this Mundialito de Clubes Beach Soccer Vargem-Grande Paulista 2017.

Corinthians bagged up the bronze in the Mundialito de Clubes following a narrow 3-2 win in the People’s Classico against Flamengo.

Pars Jonoubi Beach Soccer Team into Mundialito Final

Pars Jonoubi beach soccer team qualified for the final match of the Mundialito de Clubes underway in Vargem-Grande Paulista in Sao Paulo in Brazil on Saturday.

Pars Jonoubi defeated Brazilian Flamengo and advanced to the final match.

The Iranian team kicked off the competition with a 7-6 loss to Spanish Levante but defeated Argentina’s CA Rosario Central 8-4.

On Saturday, Pars Jonoubi beat Flamengo 6-4 and advanced to the Mundialito de Clubes final.

Pars Jonoubi will play the winner of Lokomotiv Moscow and Brazil’s Corinthians in the final match, scheduled for Sunday.

Persepolis move back to top of IPL table

Persepolis football team returned to the top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) table with a late win over pacesetters Pars Jonoubi on Saturday.

Ali Mosleh, who came off the bench in the last minutes, scored the winner in the dying moments of the match.

With one game in hand, Persepolis moved back to top of the table with 27 points, two points clear of Pars Jonoubi.

“I am so happy because we have defeated one of the best Iranian teams. I had already told my players Pars Jonoubi are a hard-working, competitive and disciplined team. To create scoring chance against the team is very difficult,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.

“I think we were the better team and deserved to win the match. I congratulate this win to my players for believing that the win was possible,” the Croat added.

Esteghlal also defeated Gostaresh Foolad 2-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium thank to a brace from Farshid Esmaeili.

It was the Blues’ fourth win in the current season after 13 weeks.

Elsewhere, Zob Ahan suffered a 1-0 home loss to Foolad.

Tractor Sazi defeated Sepidrood 2-1 in Tabriz and Saipa edged past Siahjamegan 1-0.
