UNGA adopts five resolutions in favor of Palestine

TEHRAN (Iran News) During its session on Friday, the UNGA approved a resolution concerning assistance to Palestinian refugees. The resolution passed with 151 votes in favor. Eighteen countries abstained, and ten countries, including the United States, voted against it.

The second resolution commended the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for its efforts to support Palestinian refugees, and renewed its mandate until the end of June 2029. This resolution was adopted with 145 votes in favor.

The resolution underscored UNRWA’s vital role in providing essential education, health, relief, and social services to Palestinian refugees, as well as delivering life-saving humanitarian assistance across all its areas of operation in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Al-Quds.

It also warned of the serious humanitarian consequences of any attempt to dismantle UNRWA or restrict its operations. The resolution expressed concern over an Israeli law already enacted to end UNRWA’s mandate, urging the regime to adhere to its international commitments.

The third resolution, concerning the property of Palestinian refugees and the revenues derived from it, was approved by 157 votes in favor.

The fourth resolution, regarding Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Al-Quds and the occupied Syrian Golan, was adopted with 146 votes in favor.

The fifth resolution, concerning the work of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories, was adopted with 88 votes in favor.

Although resolutions passed by the UNGA are non-binding, they reflect the global community’s growing support for the rights of the Palestinian people and Israel’s increasing isolation on the international stage.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Portugal has officially recognized the state of Palestine, amid growing global public support for Palestinians facing the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Portugal’s Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel announced his country’s formal recognition of Palestine at Portugal’s Permanent Mission in New York on Sunday, the country’s broadcaster RTP reported.

“The recognition of the state of Palestine is the realization of a fundamental, constant, and fundamental line of Portuguese foreign policy,” Rangel told reporters.

Today’s declaration of recognition is a direct result of the Council of Ministers’ decision on September 18, taken at the culmination of a consultation process in which the president of the republic and a vast majority of the parties with seats in parliament agreed, he added.

He also said that Portugal “advocates the two-state solution as the only path to a just and lasting peace…a ceasefire is urgent.”

The announcement came hours after Britain, Australia, and Canada also officially recognized the Palestinian state ahead of the UN General Assembly.

Several other countries, including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra, and Malta, are also expected to announce their recognition of Palestine in the coming days.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin expressed gratitude to countries that have already recognized or are preparing to recognize the State of Palestine

The move will send “a very clear message to the Israelis on their illusions of continuing their occupation forever,” she said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The arrests have been marked by severe abuses, including administrative detentions and field executions.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported Friday that most of the arrests occurred in the al-Khalil and al-Quds governorates.

Over 10,000 administrative detention orders were issued during this period, with 11,000 detainees currently held without trial or charge under Israel’s administrative detention policy.

This policy allows detention without trial for up to six months, renewable indefinitely.

Among those detained are more than 440 women, 795 children, and 141 journalists.

Of the journalists, 59 remain in custody, including five women and 33 from Gaza.

Rights groups have highlighted widespread abuses accompanying these arrests, including severe beatings, threats, home destruction, and the confiscation of personal property.

Detainees have reportedly been used as human shields, while families were held hostage for extended periods.

The Israeli forces have also carried out field executions, including against family members of prisoners, the group said.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli raids and attacks in the West Bank have intensified, with at least 809 Palestinians killed and over 6,450 injured by Israeli army fire, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The violence has been compounded by attacks from illegal Israeli settlers.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to withhold the bodies of 47 Palestinian prisoners who died in its custody.

Israel’ brutal military offensive in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 44,875 Palestinians, primarily women and children, with thousands still missing under rubble.

The International Court of Justice has declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, demanding the removal of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Then, the four Zionists were wounded as people in northern Tel Aviv were fleeing into shelters, according to the radio report.

Yemen has already targeted several vital bases of the Israeli regime with drones.

Also, various areas in Yemen have been under the US and the UK’s aggressive attacks in recent months.

Through those attacks, certain Western countries aimed to put pressure on the national government of Yemen to lift its naval blockade on the Israeli regime.

Yemen’s Armed Forces have said in a statement that the US-UK aggression could never make Yemen withdraw from its stance to support the Palestinian nation in its fight against oppression.

Yemen has been targeting Israeli ships or other vessels destined for the occupied lands to support the resistance of the Palestinian nation in the Gaza Strip.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The Gaza civil defense confirmed that 75 of the fatalities occurred in Israeli airstrikes targeting two homes in Beit Lahia.

The remaining casualties were reported in Jabalia and other parts of northern Gaza, according to civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal.

“The number of martyrs since the start of the Israeli military operation in northern Gaza (on Oct. 5) has reached 2,700 Palestinians, and 10,000 others are injured,” Basal told Anadolu.

He described the situation as a “catastrophe and genocide,” highlighting the absence of any relief efforts for civilians in the area.

Basal stated that the Israeli military targets all movement in northern Gaza, with individuals fetching water, food, or wood coming under attack.

Since October 5, Israel has intensified ground operations in northern Gaza, claiming its objective is to prevent Hamas from regrouping without providing evidence. Palestinians, however, said that Israel aims to occupy the territory and forcibly displace its residents.

Humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, and fuel, has been largely restricted, pushing the 80,000 residents in northern Gaza toward the brink of famine.

The broader Israeli military campaign, launched on October 7, 2003, has resulted in over 44,000 deaths across Gaza. The densely populated enclave is now deemed uninhabitable.

Last week, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its ongoing offensive in Gaza.

TEHRAN (Iran News) South Africa has issued a statement marking the 47th United Nations International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Turkish media Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.

The occasion provides us with a crucial opportunity to reflect and take stock of the plight of the people of Palestine, the statement added.

The country stressed the importance of an immediate end to the conflict in Palestine and Lebanon, advocating for the commencement of a political process to establish a just and sustainable peace.

Pretoria highlighted that the unresolved Palestinian issue, now spanning 75 years, remains central to tensions in the Middle East.

South Africa reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to strengthening its bond of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation with Palestine.

In keeping with South Africa’s long-term and principled support for the Palestinian people, the Government of South Africa remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at refocusing the international agenda on Palestine and a revived Middle East peace process, the statement noted.

In December 2023,SOUTH AFRICA filed a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing it of crimes of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is seated in The Hague, Netherlands, issued multiple warrants on Thursday for those involved in the ongoing Israeli invasion of war. This included warrants for the arrest of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant.

The death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza, which started in October 2023, has climbed to 43,764, leaving the Palestinian territory in ruins amid relentless Israeli attacks.

Fatalities in the Gaza Strip are believed to be far higher, with thousands of people still trapped under the rubble.

TEHRAN (Iran News) More than 700,000 Zionists have left the occupied Palestinian territories since October 7, 2023, Pappé said on Sunday. “Palestine”

Earlier on March 10, Yitzhak Yosef, the Chief Jewish Rabbi, called Sephardic or Haredi Rabbi of a branch of ultra-orthodox Jews in the occupied Palestinian territories, had warned the Zionist regime of mass exodus of his community if they were forced to join the army.

Hezbollah has managed to involve Tel Aviv in the war since the start of war with Hezbollah in the north and after the assassination of its leaders.

Not only have the Zionists been unable to return 120,000 Zionists to the north with their terrorist and ground attacks, but today the residents of Haifa and Tel Aviv also wake up every day with the sound of alarm.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Medical officials report that 18 of the 33 Palestinians killed were in the Jabalia refugee camp, where Israel has maintained a 17-day assault. The offensive forms part of an ongoing military siege trapping approximately 400,000 residents, many of whom remain cut off from food and water.

UN-run schools serving as shelters in northern Gaza’s Jabalia have been ordered to evacuate, with Israeli quadcopter drones broadcasting evacuation instructions via loudspeakers. Witnesses say Israeli artillery fired on civilians gathered at a school gate, killing seven, spreading fear, and forcing people back inside the shelter.

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital said the influx of casualties has overwhelmed the facility, describing the situation as untenable.

Israeli shelling also targeted homes in the as-Saftawi area northwest of Gaza City, killing two people, local residents told Wafa news agency.

Explosions rocked several parts of Gaza, with artillery fire reported across the enclave, especially in Jabalia and Nuseirat refugee camps.

In northern Gaza, Israeli forces demolished residential buildings in western Jabalia and razed all infrastructure in Block 2, Palestinian sources told Al Jazeera.

Residents fleeing the northern siege fear the same fate may unfold in central Gaza, where essential supplies have already run out amid mass blackouts.

Military operations also claimed the life of Ahsan Daksa, commander of Israel’s 401st Armoured Brigade. He was killed by an explosive device while inspecting the battlefield in Jabalia. Two other soldiers were wounded in the incident, Israel’s military spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed.

Hassan Barari, a Middle East politics professor at Qatar University, described the Israeli military siege and forced expulsions in northern Gaza as “a message” to Palestinians across the Strip. Barari warned that after clearing Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoon, Gaza City could become the next target for ethnic cleansing.
