TEHRAN (Iran News) Minister of Defense Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh has expressed strong confidence in the alignment of Iran and Pakistan to support one another on the international stage, noting that shared opportunities and threats heighten the need for close cooperation between the two nations.

Nasirzadeh made the remarks in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad on Saturday night during the official visit of a high-ranking Iranian delegation led by President Masoud Pezeshkian.

“Fortunately, both countries hold favorable positions internationally to support and bolster each other,” the Iranian minister told reporters in response to a question from IRNA.

He further said that there are opportunities for collaboration in various areas, including cultural, historical, and religious ones, as well as the shared threats both nations face. These factors have significantly contributed to the development of bilateral relations, he added.

The Pakistani minister of defense spoke with reporters as well. He highlighted the importance of enhancing military cooperation with Iran, saying that Islamabad seeks a lasting partnership between the two neighboring countries to promote peace and stability in the region.

Regional stability is crucial for the development and welfare of both the Iranian and Pakistani nations, as well as for all residents of this region, he emphasized.

Asif also said that Iran and Pakistan will remain brothers forever. This current meeting has further strengthened bilateral relations and has ushered these ties into a new and promising phase, he added.

Brigadier General Nasirzadeh also held a meeting with Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Defense issued a statement reaffirming that both countries are committed to regional peace and defense cooperation.
