]]> TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian international midfielder Omid Ebrahimi is close to returning to Al Ahli club after the second season on loan in the Belgian club Eupen, Staddoha reported.

Ebrahimi’s contract with Eupen runs at the end of the season.

The Qatari club is going to part company with Australian defender Shane Lowry and wants to bring back Ebrahimi to Doha.

Ebrahimi joined Al Ahli in July 2018 but was loaned to Belgian top-flight team Eupen a year later.

He played 21 matches for Al Ahli and scored four goals for the team in the 2018-19 season.

The 31-year-old player has joined KAS Eupen on a one-year loan spell from Qatari club Al Ahli for an undisclosed fee.

Ebrahimi started his playing career at Shahrdari Bandar Abbas in 2009 and joined Sepahan after 0ne year.

He was a member of Esteghlal football team from 2014 to 2018.

Ebrahimi was one of Iran’s iconic players in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He also represented Iran in 2015 and 2019 AFC Asian Cups.

Ebrahimi is the sixth Iranian player in Belgian Fist Division League.

He has joined his countryman Saeid Ezatollahi who joined Eupen on Thursday.

Ali Gholizadeh, Kaveh Rezaei, Milad Mohammadi, Younes Delfi and Saeid Ezatolahi are playing in Belgian teams.

]]> Esteghlal defensive midfielder Omid Ebrahimi has joined Qatari football club Al Ahli.

Al Ahli SC, also known as Al Ahli Doha, has signed the Iranian player on a one-year contract.

Omid Ebrahimi was discovered by Amir Ghalenoei in 2011. He started his career in Esteghlal Dargahan. He joined Sepahan in 2010 after spending the previous season at Shahrdari Bandar Abbas in the Azadegan League.

Ebrahimi’s first competitive appearance came in the Iran Pro League match against Rah Ahan on 27 July 2010, where he played the full 90 minutes.

On 10 June 2014, Ebrahimi signed a two-year contract with Esteghlal. He spent an excellent career in Blues of the Capital and was selected as the best midfielder of Persian Gulf Pro League in 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons.

Ebrahimi played against Morocco, Spain and Portugal in Group B of the 2018 World Cup.

Esteghlal has negotiated with Sepahan midfielder Ali Karimi as a replacement for Ebrahimi.
