										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary">TEHRAN (<a href="https://www.irannewsdaily.com/">Iran News</a>) – The national team of Iran won one gold and three silver medals at the 33rd <a href="https://irannewsdaily.com/2019/08/leader-urges-iranian-youths-to-expand-borders-of-science/">International Olympiad</a> in Informatics, which was held virtually from 19 to 25 June in Singapore.</p>
<p>Alireza Keshavarz grabbed the gold medal, while Alireza Kaviani, Ali Safari, and Ali Shah-Ali gained the silver medals, ISNA reported.</p>
<p>A total of 28 students participated in international Olympiads over the past year (March 2020-March 2021), winning 27 medals and one honorary diploma.</p>
<p>Last year, two international Olympiads of physics and geography were not held due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, but other Olympiads of mathematics, biology, computers, and chemistry and astronomy were held.</p>
<p>Six students participated in International Mathematical Olympiad, and International Biology Olympiad, Chemistry Olympiad, computer Olympiad each hosted 4 Iranian students, while 10 students from Iran attended the Astronomy Olympiad.</p>
<p>Among the 28 students participating in the international competitions, seven won world gold medals, eleven grabbed silver, and nine won bronze medals and one student gained an honorary diploma.</p>
<p>Some 541 students participated in the national summer competition last year, of whom 507 were awarded national medals.</p>
<p>Most recently, Iranian students won 44 medals in the Indonesia International Applied Science Olympiad and the South Korea science and engineering competition in December 2020.</p>
<p>Other students won colorful medals at the 2020 South African science and invention festival, which was held virtually on November 28-December 5.</p>
<p>The students also grabbed 8 colorful medals at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), according to the National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents.</p>
<p>Also, the students grabbed four medals at the 31st International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2020) which took place in Nagasaki, Japan on July 3-11.</p>
<p>The team of Iranian students won six colorful medals at the 61st International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2020), putting the country in 18th place. Held on September 21-22, IMO 2020 was hosted by Saint Petersburg, Russia.</p>
<p>The country’s team also snatched 4 medals at the 52nd International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2020) held in Turkey from July 6 to 15.</p>
<p>Moreover, Iran finished fourth winning three gold medals and a silver medal at the 32nd International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2020) which was held in Singapore from September 13 to 19.</p>
<p>The students also won gold and silver medals at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2020) which was held on February 2-6 in Bangkok, Thailand.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary"><strong>TEHRAN – The first International Nanotechnology Olympiad (INO) 2018, was a great chance for participants to share their information and ideas.</strong></p>
<p>The first International Nanotechnology Olympiad was held from April 10 to 15 at Tehran’s Pardis Technology Park and nine teams from four foreign countries competed at the event.</p>
<p>Chairman of INO steering committee Ali Beitollahi called the completion in a high professional level in which, notable solutions were proposed for challenges as the theme of the Olympiad, ISNA reported on Monday.</p>
<p>The participants presented their solutions for the global challenges related to water and wastewater treatment, agriculture, food and packaging, alternative energies, drugs and medication, information and communication through nanotechnology.</p>
<p>“The ideas proposed during INO have potentiality for turning from creative ideas into industrial solutions,” he said.</p>
<p>He named teamwork as one of the positive aspects of INO, which leads into synergy to solve problems regarding global issues.</p>
<p>“Such competitions are great opportunities for talented researchers to connect with each other,” he said.</p>
<p>Nine teams competed at the event, which promote commercializing ideas in the field of nanotechnology, Head of Research Center for Science and Technology in Medicine (RCSTIM) Saeed Sarkar announced during the ceremony.</p>
<p>Spain, South Korea, Germany, Russia and some African and Latin American countries are the new target markets for RCSTIM, he said.</p>
<p>He said that Iranian companies focus on health field for production.</p>
<p><strong>Foreign participants praise INO teamwork </strong></p>
<p>At the ceremony, German researcher at German Federal Institute for risk assessment Andrea Haase made a short speech at the Olympiad.</p>
<p>In her speech, she highlighted the importance of human resources in nanotechnology and extolled workshops, which was held during the event.</p>
<p>Taiwanese nanotechnology professor and researcher Alan C. L. Tang were also amongst the speakers.</p>
<p>He praised the friendly atmosphere of the competition, which led to establishing connection between teams.</p>
<p>He expressed his thanks to organizers who held such an event in five days saying that it was a hard task, which needed a lot of coordination.</p>
<p>Professor Maw-Kuen Wu at Taiwan’s Academia Sinica called the Olympiad an opportunity for participants to discover their abilities.</p>
<p>Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC), the national academy of Taiwan Academia Sinica, Korea Nano Technology Research Society (KoNTRS) from South Korea, and Moscow State University Joint Stock Company RUSNANO from Russia are named as founders of 1st International Nanotechnology Olympiad on INO website.</p>
<p>Member of INO steering committee and Professor at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Kyung-Ho Shin also made a short speech at the event.</p>
<p>He called nanotechnology as a powerful instrument to deal with global challenges and find novel solutions for the problems.</p>
<p>He expressed his hope over increasing of participants in coming editions so that more chances can be provided for cooperation between teams.</p>
<p><strong>Four winners from four countries </strong></p>
<p>At the ceremony, four teams were recognized as the winners of the competition.</p>
<p>Participant team from Taiwan won 3000-euro award as the team with the best total score from the three aspects of novelty, business and scientific/technological.</p>
<p>The Iranian team was selected as the best project in terms of business development aspects and won the 2000-euro award.</p>
<p>South Korean team won 2000-euro award as the most novel and highest impact idea.</p>
<p>In terms of scientific and technical development, the Malaysian team won the 2000-euro award.</p>
<p><strong>Iran, INO permanent secretariat </strong></p>
<p>On the sidelines of Asia Nano Forum (ANF) meeting in Tokyo on February 15, 2017, a memorandum of understanding was signed to announce the country to host the first INO. Representatives from Iran, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan attended the meeting and declared their readiness to participate in the forthcoming competition. In accordance with the MOU, the first INO was held in Tehran.</p>
<p>During the meeting, Iran was assigned as the permanent secretariat of Olympiad and will be responsible for keeping the Olympiad under surveillance in the involved countries.</p>

<p>World Youth Chess Olympiad-2017 was competed at Karnavati Club in India. Thirty teams from twenty-five countries had taken part at the prestigious event of World Chess Calendar for Under-16 players.</p>
<p>The Iranian squad consisted of Seyed Mohamad Amin Tabatabaei, Alireza Firouzja, Arian Gholami, Mahdi Gholami and Anousha Mahdian.</p>
<p>In Round Nine of the tournament, young Persian Chess players pulled out a decisive win (4-0) over Belarusian rivals and received the bronze medal.</p>
<p>Russian stood on top of the podium winning the gold medal while host India collected the bronze medal to finish in the second position.</p>
<p>Iran had won the title in the 2016 edition of the sportive event.</p>
<p>In the nine round Swiss System event, each team needed to field a maximum of 5 players which include one girl player and she had to play at least three 3 rounds. For the records, the event had attracted one Grandmaster, fourteen International Masters and four women international masters and twenty nine Fide Masters.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="summary">TEHRAN — Iranian students won the third place at the 11th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) held in, Phuket, Thailand, on November 12 to 21.</p>
<p>By winning one gold, three silver and one bronze medals, Iran came in third place after Thailand and the U.S. among the 45 countries participating in the event, ISNA reported.</p>
<p>IOAA is an annual event for highly performed high school students from all around the world. Established in Thailand in 2006, it was initiated by five countries namely Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, China and Poland with the aim of proliferating astronomy among high school students and fostering friendship among young astronomers at international level so as to build cooperation in the field of astronomy in the future among the young scholars.</p>
<p>The third IOAA in 2009 had also been held in Iran.</p>
