TEHRAN (Iran News) According to Shehab News Agency, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq announced in a statement on Wednesday that it had attacked a vital target in the north of the occupied territories with a drone.

Jordan and Egypt aside, Arab countries have no official diplomatic ties with Israel, but Persian Gulf Arab nations have had ever more publicly warm ties with Israel of late.

In mid-May, the United Arab Emirates flew its first publicly announced flight to Israel, also an Etihad flight carrying coronavirus aid for the Palestine.

But Tuesday’s aircraft bore for the first time the logo of the Arab carrier, a source with knowledge of the flight told AFP.

It is “the first time that a plane carrying Etihad’s marking is landing in Israel”, the source said.

Israel’s foreign affairs ministry confirmed that Tuesday’s flight was the second one to Israel from the UAE.

“It is the second direct flight from the UAE and it has medical aid for the Palestinians,” the ministry said.

The aid “will be given to the UN to distribute,” it said.

Palestinian premier Mohammed Shtayyeh said the Palestinians had not been informed about the flight.

“The Emirati plane took us by surprise, we didn’t know about it,” he told foreign journalists at the Palestinian Authority headquarters in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

Israeli sources claimed that the young man had been shot by forces because he was seeking to enter the Halamish settlement n Ramallah. Others said the young man had attempted to run over several Israeli soldiers guarding the settlements.

The incident caused an uproar among the Palestinian villagers living in the area. Israeli soldiers then opened fire at the angry protesters.

Palestine’s Wafa news agency said a protester was injured during the clashes that erupted in Nabi Saleh.

It said Israeli soldiers had used live shots to disperse the crowd.

Clashes in the occupied West Bank come as Israeli regime plans to roll out a highly controversial plan to annex territories it occupied against the international will after the 1997 war with Arab countries.

The Palestinian Authority has repeatedly warned that the implementation of the plan, which has gained the approval of the Israeli cabinet and parliament, would spark huge unrest in the West Bank and other Palestinian territories.

The plan also faces growing international criticism as governments around the world continue to condemn it as a violation of United Nations resolutions on the status of Palestine.

Opponents say lands that Israeli plan to annex by relying on extensive support from the United States are those that Palestinians seek to establish as their future state.

According to a PCHR report published yesterday, a total of 106 Israeli human rights abuses were comprehensively recorded; however, the restrictions imposed under the state of emergency have hindered the NGO’s ability to cover all incidents in the occupied territories, the Middle East Monitor reported.

“This week, which marked the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, which celebrates the end of the holy month of Ramadan, was no different, as IOF attacks continued; additionally, Israeli forces as part of their violations shot and wounded Palestinian farmers, set lands ablaze and attacked houses,” the rights NGO stated.

As noted by PCHR, Israeli forces unlawfully killed five Palestinian civilians, including a child who posing no imminent threat to life, using live ammunition during Israeli military raids into Ramallah and Tubas.

Moreover, Israel continued to expand illegal settlements and related infrastructure in the occupied West Bank, including the dismantling of a caravan and demolition of a house still-under-construction in the central Jordan Valley, because it did not have the necessary permissions from the Israeli occupation authorities.

Such permits are almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain. It said three Palestinians were forced to demolish their homes themselves.

The extensive demolitions, PCHR stated, also included using bulldozers at the Sebastia archaeological site and stealing ancient stones from the surrounding area.

There are now some 650,000 illegal settlers living on occupied Palestinian territory, including in East Jerusalem al-Quds. All of Israel’s settlements are illegal under international law. The Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits an occupying power from transferring its population onto occupied land.

Soldiers of Israel regime broke into the town of Ya’bad near Jenin in the northern West Bank and searched several homes before arresting two youths, the residents said, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the residents, Israeli forces fired teargas canisters and stun grenades during the raid. No injuries were reported.

The Israeli military has yet to issue a statement on the arrest.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,000 Palestinians, including women and children, are currently held in Israeli detention facilities.

No cause of death was given for the death of the Chinese ambassador, and Tel Aviv police on Sunday said it had opened an investigation.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld confirmed that Du was found in the early morning by the envoy’s staff in his home in Herzliya.

He said police were at the scene investigating the circumstances surrounding Du’s death.

Media reports said according to an initial assessment, Du appears to have died of a cardiac arrest, but there was no official confirmation.

Yuval Rotem, Israeli director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he spoke with China’s deputy ambassador to express condolences and pledged to “help the Chinese embassy with anything they may need along the way”, Israeli daily Haaretz reported.

Du had arrived in occupied lands in February. He had previously served as China’s envoy to Ukraine, according to the embassy’s website.

He is survived by a wife and son, both of whom were not in occupied lands.

The ambassador’s death comes just two days after he condemned comments by visiting US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who denounced Chinese investments in occupied lands and accused China of hiding information about the coronavirus pandemic.
