TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Asghar Jahangir said the Zionist regime has been involved in activities to identify and assassinate Iranian scientists.

He noted that the Iranian security forces have been monitoring the “elements of espionage” in different provinces and have arrested eight people in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan.

The spokesman said three of the arrestees stood trial for spying for the Zionist regime and have been sentenced to death after being convicted of transferring the equipment -under the guise of smuggling alcoholic drinks into Iran- used in the assassination of Fakhrizadeh.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a senior nuclear and defense scientist, was assassinated in a small city east of Tehran on November 27, 2020.

A ranking IRGC commander said after the incident that a smart satellite-controlled machine gun using artificial intelligence had been used in the assassination attack.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Mohammad Eslami commented on the IAEA Board of Governors’ recent resolution on Iran and the UN nuclear agency’s obligation to monitor Tehran’s nuclear activities.

“The relations between Iran and the Agency (IAEA) has a legal basis, which is the Safeguards Agreement and the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty),” Eslami said, noting that the UN nuclear agency is bound to supervise, support and encourage Iran’s nuclear activities within that framework.

He underlined that the IAEA’s requests must be made within the framework of cooperation with Iran. “There is not any other subject that the Agency may intend to pursue.”

On June 5, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution during its 1723rd session, emphasizing the essential and independent role of the IAEA in verifying Iran’s compliance with its NPT-required safeguards obligations.

The resolution also stressed the importance of Iran’s compliance with its safeguards obligations and the need for Iran to cooperate fully and in a timely manner with the Agency with a view to clarifying and resolving the outstanding safeguards issues.

Last month, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed the country’s determination to resolve differences with the IAEA.

Asked about the installation of new cameras by the IAEA at Iran’s nuclear sites, Nasser Kanaani said, “Iran’s serious policy is the settlement of problems with the (IAEA).”

Based on this policy, he added, Iran is determined to prevent issues relating to its peaceful nuclear activities from becoming a process for confrontation with the IAEA.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –In an address to the opening of the International Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology 2024 in Isfahan on Monday, Eslami said the nuclear training center will open in the city within the next two months at the most.

He said the international center will serve as an “influential hub” for training human forces to fulfill the purpose of promoting human resources in the nuclear industry.

He also expressed hope that the ongoing nuclear conference in Iran would help Tehran share its achievements with other countries in defiance of the hegemonic system’s attempts.

The AEOI chief noted that Iran welcomes the countries that are eager to invest in its nuclear industry.

Hailing Iran’s success in increasing the generation of nuclear power, Eslami said it has resulted in the elimination of 60 million tons of pollutants.

Eslami also reiterated that the cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency is in progress within the framework of the Safeguards.

The UN nuclear agency’s reports testify that Iran is subjected to 22 percent of all inspections the IAEA conducts across the world, which is unprecedented in history, Eslami added.

He expressed hope that the IAEA would play its professional role without coming under the influence of others.

On Monday, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi arrived in Iran.

He is going to take part in the ongoing conference in Isfahan after meetings with a number of Iranian officials in Tehran.

Eslami said international organizations should move to condemn the Israeli nuclear threat against the people of Gaza.

Speaking in a radio interview, Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said Sunday, November 5, that one of Israel’s options in the war against Gaza is to drop a “nuclear bomb” on the enclave.

Commenting on the statement by the Israeli minister, the AEOI chief said on Wednesday that once again, a Zionist official admitted that the Israeli regime is in possession of nuclear weapons, and more importantly, by threatening the oppressed and innocent people of Gaza, the Israeli minister violated the basic principles of international law and the UN Charter.

Following the dangerous remarks by Eliyahu, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the Israeli nuclear bluster is “indicative of Israel’s failure”.

He made the remarks on the X platform, formerly Twitter.

According to Eslami, though some governments censured Elyahu’s statement, now it is time for international organizations, especially the UN, to break their silence on such an “insolence,” which is a serious threat to international peace and security.

Addressing the International Atomic Energy Agency, especially the UN nuclear watchdog’s Director General, Eslami also called for an “independent and diligent approach” of IAEA due to its framework over nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.

He stressed the importance of denouncing such destructive threats and reporting their repercussions to the United Nations Security Council.

In his November 6th post on X, Amir Abdollahian also urged the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency to take “immediate and uninterrupted action to disarm the barbarity of the apartheid regime.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Josep Borrell, The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has said that the EU is committed to working toward fully implementing the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

Borrell said in a statement that he discussed the full implementation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with the European signatories to the deal- France, Germany and the United Kingdom – collectively called the E3.

“I remain fully committed to continuing all possible efforts towards the resumption of the full implementation of the JCPOA, a matter that was also discussed in the consultations,” the top EU diplomat said in the statement.

He also said, “On 14 September, I received a letter from the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom informing me about an issue concerning the implementation of Iran’s commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).”

According to Borrell, the E3 foreign ministers accused Iran of not complying with the terms of the JCPOA.

He added, “The Foreign Ministers stated that Iran has been in non-compliance since 2019 and considered that this has not been resolved through the JCPOA’s Dispute Resolution Mechanism (DRM). They expressed their intention not to take the steps regarding the lifting of further sanctions on JCPOA Transition Day on 18 October 2023.”

The European accusation comes at a time when Iran reduced its commitments under the JCPOA only after the E3 failed to honor their JCPOA obligations following the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal in May 2018.

Borrell stated, “Subsequently, as Coordinator, I consulted all JCPOA participants on the way ahead. Following these consultations, I note that as of today, the issue remains unresolved given the diverging views expressed. At the same time, participants reiterated their determination to find a diplomatic solution in the framework of the JCPOA.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI), said on Wednesday that it is not reasonable for Iran to be inspected 10 times more than other countries while the size of Iran’s nuclear facilities is about 2% of the world’s nuclear facilities.

In an interview with Al Jazeera on Wednesday, Eslami said that Tehran has good cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He also noted that at least 120 inspectors of the Agency are accepted and actively working within Iran whereas some are rejected which is totally Iran’s rights.

The AEOI head added that Tehran keeps an eye on the performance of inspectors which is its right whether to accept or reject some of them.

“The decision to reject some does not mean Iran fails to cooperate with the Agency,” Eslami averred, adding, “We cooperate with the Agency and such cooperation continues daily, but some inspectors may be rejected over their performance, this is normal and common.”

Referring to his meeting with the IAEA director during his trip to Vienna, Islami stated, “The meeting with Mr. Grossi was so friendly and was done in a normal atmosphere because our cooperation with the Agency is more important than the cooperation of any other country.”

At the conclusion, he stressed, “Tehran is facing the highest possible daily inspection of nuclear facilities. If we want to determine the size of our facilities, it is about 2% of nuclear facilities worldwide.”

“The inspection operations that the Agency conducts in Iran are about 25% of the inspection operations that it conducts around the world, it is not logical that we are inspected more than 10 times by other countries,” he complained.

Heading a delegation to Vienna, Eslami attended the 67th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference.

In another meeting between Eslami and the Brazilian delegation in Vienna, the two sides underscored the need to expand bilateral cooperation in different areas of peaceful nuclear technology.

Given Iran and Brazil’s diverse nuclear technologies and their extensive history of collaboration in numerous industries, there are good reasons to strengthen bilateral ties in a number of nuclear-related areas.

Iran and Brazil, two members of the BRICS group of emerging economies, have similar views on the value of multilateralism and the need to combat unilateralism.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, has traveled to the Austrian capital on Sunday to take part in a conference organized by the UN nuclear watchdog.

The 67th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference will be held from 25 to 29 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Eslami is expected to deliver a speech at the conference on Monday morning, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.

Also, the head of the AEOI will hold a meeting with IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi and pay a visit to an Iranian nuclear exhibition in Vienna. He is also expected to meet the nuclear officials of other countries.

Eslami’s trip to Vienna comes amid differences between Iran and the IAEA over cooperation. Recently, the IAEA said Iran withdrew the designation of “several experienced Agency inspectors” and barred them from conducting inspections.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has reacted to the statement by Grossi on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s move to withdraw the designation of a few experienced inspectors of the agency.

Kanaani said, “Unfortunately, despite the Islamic Republic of Iran’s positive, constructive and continuous interaction with the agency, three European countries and the United States, within their excessive demands, took advantage of the atmosphere in the Board of Governors for their own political goals with the aim of ruining the atmosphere of cooperation between Iran and the agency,” according to a statement by the Iranian foreign ministry.

He added, “Iran had already raised the alarm over the repercussions of such political abuses, including attempts to politicize the atmosphere of the agency.”

The spokesman for the Iranian diplomatic service emphasized that the recent move by Iran was based on its sovereign rights stipulated in Article 9 of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement between Iran and the IAEA (INFCIRC 214).

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran expects Western countries to refrain from the policy of abusing international organizations, including the IAEA, and let the organizations carry out their professional and impartial activities away from political pressures.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says there is nothing wrong with reaching a deal if Iran’s nuclear infrastructure remains untouched, urging vigilance when dealing with the West, as “it has reneged on its promises many times and its untrustworthiness is now proven.”

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with a group of nuclear experts and officials in Tehran on Sunday

Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iranian nuclear managers, authorities and activists have over the past years set up important infrastructure for the country’s nuclear industry.

“You may want to reach agreements in some fields. Nothing is wrong with [reaching] agreements, but the infrastructure must remain intact. They must not be harmed. They are the fruit of others’ endeavors,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.

“We were dealt blows because of these misplaced trusts. It is very important that a nation and the officials of a country know and understand where they should trust and where not. We have understood it over the past twenty years. We understood who is trustworthy and who is not,” the Leader said.

He also said the enemies use the claim that Iran is developing nuclear weapons as an excuse to target Iran, but the claim is no more than a lie and they are well aware of it.

“The enemies have created a nuclear challenge for us for twenty years because they know that the movement in the nuclear industry is the key to the country’s scientific progress,” the Leader said. “The excuse of nuclear weapons is a lie and they (the enemies) know it too.”

“Based on our Islamic basis, we do not want to go towards [nuclear] weapons. Otherwise, they (the enemies) would not have been able to stop it, as until now they could not stop our nuclear developments,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.

The Leader described the nuclear industry as one of the most important components of the country’s power, credibility and strength, saying that the industry is key to progress in many fields.

He further said that the industry improves people’s lives in technical, economic and health sectors and adds weight to the country’s global and international political standing.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the 20-year nuclear challenge demonstrated the extraordinary ability and talent of Iranian youth despite sanctions as well as threats against scientists and the assassination of some of them.

The challenge also laid bare the inhuman, unfair and bullying logic of opponents, who have expectations from us beyond existing safeguards agreements, the Leader asserted.

The challenge, he added, further exposed the unreliability of the promises made by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the opposite in the talks aimed at reviving the 2025 nuclear deal.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the strategic law adopted by the Iranian Parliament in 2020 to counter sanctions saved the country from “bewilderment in nuclear issue”.

In a meeting with lawmakers in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the strategic laws passed by the parliament, including the Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions.

“The strategic action law saved the country from bewilderment in the nuclear issue,” the Leader said. “This law clearly defined what we should do and we are witnessing its manifestations in the world.”

Under the legislation, which was approved in December 2020, the Iranian administration is required to restrict the inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and accelerate the development of the country’s nuclear program beyond the limits set under the 2015 nuclear agreement. It was adopted in a bid to counter illegal sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States and its Western allies.

Ayatollah Khamenei also congratulated the Iranian nation on the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Khorramshahr in the course of Iraq’s war of aggression against Iran in the 1980s, describing the event as a “miraculous epic.”

The southwestern port city was recaptured during a landmark operation code-named Beit ol-Moqaddas in 1982, putting an end to over 500 days of occupation by forces of the ex-Iraqi dictator’s regime.

The Leader said that the initiatives used in the outstanding operation and the sacrifices made by Iranian martyrs were more important than the great victory, adding that these facts should not fade into oblivion.

He added, “The conquest of Khorramshahr was a miraculous event.”

Referring to May 24, 1982, the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr, the Leader of the revolution said: “The great saga of the conquest of Khorramshahr was truly and honestly a great feat.”

He added: “After the conquest of Khorramshahr, some world’s presidents and mediators paid a visit to Iran; Mr. Ahmed Sékou Touré, who was an important figure in Africa, came and told me that today your situation is different from yesterday because of the conquest of Khorramshahr.”

The leader continued: “The greatness of the conquest of Khorramshahr attracts the eyes, but I want to say that the Bait-ul-Muqaddas operation is more or at least as important as the conquest of Khorramshahr, this operation that led to the conquest of Khorramshahr, these operations, those sacrifices, those initiatives, those plans and war plans that, in my opinion, should be taught in the war universities.”

In this meeting, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei said: “From the beginning of the term of 11th Majlis, I believed that this parliament is revolutionary, and now after three years, I repeat the same”.
