TEHRAN (Iran News) –“IAEA can confirm that there is no damage to Iran’s nuclear sites,” the UN nuclear agency said in a post on its X account on April 19.

It noted that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi “continues to call for extreme restraint from everybody and reiterates that nuclear facilities should never be a target in military conflicts.”

“IAEA is monitoring the situation very closely,” the UN nuclear agency added.

Speculation ran rampant on Friday morning that the Israeli regime has attacked a number of sites in Iran’s central province of Isfahan after a series of explosions were heard in the province.

Officials denied the rumor immediately afterwards, saying the air defense units have gone into firing mode because of the high sensitivity of the air defense facilities in the current situation and “probably” because a number of micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) have been detected.

In recent days, the Zionist regime has ratcheted up the rhetoric of military action against Iran after Tehran carried out a retaliatory operation against the Israeli military targets inside the occupied territories in response to a fatal airstrike that Israel launched on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – IAEA No Longer to Access Images of Iran Nuclear Sites. Majlis Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will no longer access images of the Iranian nuclear sites because a monitoring deal with the UN nuclear body has expired.

“From May 22 and with the end of the three-month agreement, the agency will have no access to data collected by cameras inside the nuclear facilities agreed under the agreement, and cannot transfer them,” Qalibaf told the parliament Sunday.

He said the Majlis is determined to implement its Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions, which has tasked the administration with suspending extra commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal.

The decision, Qalibaf said, is backed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“Yesterday it was discussed and the decision was made. The law passed by the Parliament will be implemented. The Leader has underlined the importance of this issue as well,” Qalibaf said.

Last December, Iranian lawmakers overwhelmingly voted in favor of the Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions.

The law tasked the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) with producing and storing at least 120 kilograms of enriched uranium with a 20-percent purity level every year and raising enrichment beyond 20 percent according to the country’s needs.

In February, Iran and the IAEA reached a technical understanding under which Iran agreed to keep the camera footage of its nuclear sites for three months in a goodwill gesture, waiting to see if the other parties to the nuclear deal can bring the US back into full compliance with the accord.

That deadline expired on Saturday, with the prospects of bringing Washington back to compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as the nuclear deal is officially known, looking uncertain.

Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who is the head of the Iranian delegation to the Vienna talks, told Japan’s NHK channel on Friday that the Islamic Republic may consider extending the deal with the IAEA on inspection of its nuclear sites.

Iran’s chief negotiator says Tehran’s resumption of the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol is “predicated” on the lifting of sanctions.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi was going to hold a news conference later on Sunday.

Senior diplomats from Iran and the remaining parties to the JCPOA are in Vienna for negotiations on a potential revitalization of the deal, and an effective removal of the US sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.

The United States, under former president Donald Trump, left the JCPOA in May 2018 and restored the economic sanctions that the accord had lifted on Iran.

Tehran responded to the US noncompliance through taking a series of remedial measures envisaged in the nuclear deal if in case the other side did not observe its obligations.

Iran has insisted that it would observe its commitments only after the US removed all its sanctions in one step and Tehran could verify it.

Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs Mohsen Baharvand held a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of an IAEA Board of Governors meeting in Vienna.

The Iranian diplomat said while all IAEA Member States are entitled to enjoy nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, the situation in Saudi Arabia, its non-transparent activities, and its refusal to allow IAEA inspectors entry are a source of concern.

The IAEA must be able to practice verification activities in Saudi Arabia, he added.

Baharvand also highlighted Iran’s close cooperation with the UN nuclear agency, stressing that the IAEA should not be influenced by political pressures from certain countries that are aimed at disrupting the interaction between the IAEA and Tehran.

Cooperation in a constructive atmosphere without the influence of third parties would benefit both sides, the Iranian deputy minister told Grossi.

The IAEA chief, for his part, described Iran as a major partner of the UN nuclear agency and hailed the country’s positive cooperation and the level of verification activities inside Iran.

Grossi visited Iran in late August. At the conclusion of the two-day trip, Iran and the UN agency issued a joint statement on agreements and the results of high-level talks between the two sides.

Iran has agreed to voluntarily grant the IAEA access to two sites specified by the agency.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said the agency’s inspectors will visit the second of two sites in Iran later in September for verification purposes based on an agreement reached between the two sides late last month.

“We reached agreement on the resolution of the safeguards implementation issues raised by the Agency. The Agency subsequently conducted a complementary access, under the Additional Protocol, at one of the two locations specified by us,” IAEA’s Director General Rafael Grossi said on Monday, Press TV reported.

Addressing the agency’s 35-member Board of Governors, he added, “Our inspectors took environmental samples which will be analyzed. A complementary access at the second specified location will take place later this month.”

He noted that during his visit to Tehran, he held talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other senior officials “aimed at making concrete progress in addressing the Agency’s outstanding questions, and in particular at resolving the issue of access to two locations in Iran.”

At the end of Grossi’s two-day trip to Tehran on August 26, Iran and the UN agency issued a joint statement on their agreements and the results of high-level talks between the two sides.

“After intensive bilateral consultations, Iran and the IAEA reached an agreement on the resolution of the safeguards implementation issues specified by the IAEA, in good faith. In this regard, Iran is voluntarily providing the IAEA with access to the two locations specified by the IAEA and facilitating the IAEA verification activities to resolve these issues,” read part of the statement.

In his Monday speech, the UN nuclear agency chief also welcomed the Iran-IAEA agreement and expressed hope that it would “reinforce cooperation and enhance mutual trust.”

Grossi added that the agency would continue to verify the non-diversion of nuclear material declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement, saying, “Evaluations regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities for Iran continue.”

Meanwhile, the IAEA chief told reporters after opening the Board of Governors’ meeting that analyzing environmental samples collected at the first site would take “not less than a couple of months, two or three months maybe.”

Iran’s permanent representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Kazem Gharibabadi said on September 4 the latest IAEA report envisaged “positive and constructive” prospects in bilateral cooperation.

“In terms of content, the report has explicitly portrayed a clear image of the current status of [bilateral] cooperation and envisaged positive and constructive prospects in relations between Iran and the agency,” he told reporters.

The Iranian official said it was expected that an overwhelming majority of the IAEA member states and the Board of Governors would approve of the constructive nature of the relationship between Tehran and the agency.

Under the 2015 accord, the IAEA monitors Iran’s nuclear activities and regularly updates its members through providing reports.

The visit by the IAEA head to Tehran took place over two months after the Board of Governors on June 19 passed a resolution, put forward by Britain, France and Germany – the three European signatories to the landmark 2015 nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), to push for inspections of two sites that the trio claims may have been used for undeclared nuclear activities in the early 2000s.

It was the Israeli regime’s spy service that first came up with the allegations of such activity at the two sites. Iran has, however, strictly rejected the allegations.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s Ambassador to the Vienna-based international organizations Kazem Gharibabadi hailed latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Safeguards Agreement (NPT) with Iran, saying the report indicated ‘positive and constructive’ prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Gharibabadi said the IAEA’s quarterly report, released earlier on Friday, dealt with the developments and progress of relations and cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog over the past three months, IRNA reported.

The international body confirmed that Iran has let the IAEA inspect one of the two sites it agreed to grant access to in a joint statement issued last month at the end of a visit to Tehran by the IAEA’s chief.

“According to the report, the agency has been gained access to one of the two intended sites and the access to the second site has been scheduled for this month,” Gharibabadi said while speaking to reporters Friday evening,.

He described the report “significant,” adding that it can be scrutinized from two angles.

In terms of form, he said, the report “indicates the constructive interaction of the two sides during the period to reach a common understanding and find solutions” to issues.

“While in terms of content, this report clearly portrays a clear and positive image of the current status of cooperation and a positive and constructive outlook in relations between Iran and the IAEA, which is expected to be welcomed by the overwhelming majority of IAEA member states and the Board of Governors,” the envoy added.

Gharibabadi further noted that the report pointed to a trip to Tehran by the IAEA’s chief Rafael Grossi on August 24 and 25 and his talks with senior Iranian officials, which led to the issuance of a joint statement aimed at strengthening cooperation and building more confidence.

Iran has shown goodwill in its interaction with the IAEA’s new director general, and expects the joint statement and director general’s report be supported by members of the Board of Governors and other IAEA members and be considered a major step toward normalizing two or three Iran-related safeguards issues with independent, impartial and professional implementation of agreements and commitments, Gharibabadi said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to refrain from a dangerous precedent and not rely on baseless claims after the UN nuclear agency’s Board of Governors adopted a resolution on Iran.

In an article published on Saturday, Behrouz Kamalvandi criticized the IAEA Board of Governors for referring to inauthentic information to adopt a resolution on Iran.

“The IAEA should not refer and give credence to the information obtained by espionage activities or to the claims raised by baseless sources,” he noted.

Kamalvandi emphasized that the IAEA’s call for clarification or additional access to locations in Iran on the basis of fake and fabricated documents runs counter to the Statute of the IAEA and the verification system, stressing that Iran is by no means committed to agree to such requests.

“Such illegitimate references should not and could not be a legal justification and basis for a request for access to the nuclear sites or other places or a means to put pressure on and accuse the countries,” Kamalvandi added.

“The IAEA and its Members must counter and prevent such unprincipled and dangerous precedent that damages the national sovereignty of countries,” the Iranian spokesman underscored.

On Friday, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution calling on Iran to fully cooperate with the IAEA in implementing its NPT Safeguards Agreement and Additional Protocol and satisfy the IAEA’s requests without further delay.

The resolution, submitted by France, Germany and the UK, was adopted by a vote of 25 to 2 with 7 abstentions.
