TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran marked the National Nuclear Technology Day during an impressive ceremony held in Tehran on Saturday, where the country’s latest nuclear achievements were unveiled.

Among the accomplishments put on display were three radiopharmaceuticals, two achievements in the fields of cold plasma technology (CPT) and plasma therapy for cancer patients, and another four in the areas of industry, lasers, control systems, and photography.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, who was present at the event, was briefed by the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami, and Vice President for Science and Technology Sourena Sattari on recent nuclear achievements.

Raisi expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the Iranian youth and scientists in the field of nuclear energy, describing the achievements as a symbol of self-confidence and reliance on domestic capabilities.

He called for extending such a spirit to other industries and strategic fields in the country.

While stressing Iran’s inalienable right to access peaceful nuclear energy, he stated that the country’s rapid and major strides in the areas of nuclear technology and expertise were irreversible.

“Iran does not restrict research and studies on the peaceful aspects of nuclear energy to the wishes or opinions of others. Fortunately, research into the peaceful applications of nuclear energy is growing and the [incumbent Iranian] administration will support the process,” Raisi highlighted.

Eslami also spoke on the occasion, saying the AEOI unveiled and inaugurated nearly 77 new achievements in the nuclear technology sector during the Persian calendar year of 1400, which started on March 21, 2021, and ended on March 20, 2022.

Among them, 29 achievements were related to nuclear fuel, while 19 others were in the field of nuclear research and development. A total of 15 achievements were made in the field of energy supply, and another 14 achievements in the sphere of radiation application, the AEOI chief informed.

Saying that Iran, regarding international interactions, especially in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, tries to behave professionally, Eslami announced that the preparation of the Country Program Framework (CPF) is also in progress and will be submitted to the IAEA upon completion.

He also called on the IAEA to be committed to fulfilling its legal obligations and not to surrender to the excessive demands of Iran’s enemies.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Eslami noted that the AEOI has reached about 77 new achievements during the past Iranian year 1400 (from March 21, 2021, to Feb. 22, 2022).

“Among them are 29 achievements in the field of nuclear fuel, 19 achievements in the field of research and development, 15 achievements in the field of energy supply and 14 achievements in the field of radiation application,” he cited.

Stating that Iran seeks exponential progress from now on, Eslami added that the country is planning on deepening industrial self-sufficiency by building 10- and 40-megawatt research reactors, as well as the first fully homegrown 360-megawatt nuclear power plant.

Eslami announced three strategic plans and stated that his organization plans to generate 10,000 MW of nuclear power, promote the application of radiation technologies, and construct a fully-indigenous 360,000 MW power plant in the southwestern Iranian city of Darkhovin.

In recent years, Iranian scientists have made remarkable progress in the field of peaceful nuclear technology despite the sanctions imposed by the West.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran has unveiled 133 new nuclear achievements made by the country’s experts in different areas of the nuclear industry, including quantum, enrichment, heavy water and deuterium compounds, radiopharmaceuticals, lasers, and etc.

In a video conference call on Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani unveiled the nuclear achievements in the provinces of Tehran, Markazi, Isfahan, Alborz and Qom to mark the 15th anniversary of the National Nuclear Technology Day.

On his order, Iranian experts began injecting gas to a new generation centrifuges in Natanz enrichment complex and also the mechanical testing of IR-9 centrifuge was started and the assembly center of the new generation centrifuges was put into operation.

Iran showed to the world the peaceful nature of its nuclear program by signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with six world states — namely the US, Germany, France, Britain, Russia and China — in 2015. The nuclear deal was also ratified in the form of a UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Addressing Saturday’s event, Rouhani said one of the honorable effects of the JCPOA was that it completely legalized the nuclear industry in Iran.

“I reiterate that all our nuclear activities are peaceful and for civilian purposes. As Leader [of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei] has repeatedly stated, in our religion, pursuing a weapon that can be a great danger to a large community is forbidden,” he noted.

The president also thanked Ali-Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), and the staff of the organization, for the 133 nuclear achievements made over the past year.

“Today, a chain of 164 IR-6 centrifuges was launched. It can provide us with products 10 times more than those of the previous chain. This means that the previous centrifuges were at most 1 SWU (Separative Work Units), but this new series is 10 SWU,” he said.

“Even today, we have developed the IR-9 centrifuge with the capacity of 50 SWU in terms of technology, i.e. they provide us products 50 to 60 times more than those of the old centrifuges.”

Rouhani note that, “Radiopharmaceuticals are one of the products which are used for diagnostics and are very important in medicine.”

Meanwhile the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said that the infrastructure of the nuclear industry was maintained with high sensitivity.

Ali-Akbar Salehi stated that despite all the restrictions and pressures caused by illegal and oppressive sanctions imposed by the ill-wishers of Islamic Iran, various projects in diverse fields of nuclear science had been vigorously pursued.

Noting that the infrastructure of the nuclear industry was maintained with high sensitivity, he said if the Iranian authorities and senior decision-makers delegate something to the officials of the nuclear industry, a great flourish will come out in a short time.

He pointed out that the introduction of 133 new achievements, especially in capabilities of the health, industry, and agriculture sectors, as well as assistance to energy supply projects at the national level, had been a clear proof of this claim.

“Iran is one of the leading countries in West Asia in the production and the development of new radiopharmaceuticals. And now domestically-produced radiopharmaceuticals are being exported to 15 countries including Egypt, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and some European countries,” Salehi told IRNA on Monday.

The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) noted that Iranian scientists are conducting continuous research in this field, adding, “for instance, one of the radiopharmaceuticals we have studied during recent years is a medicine to cure prostate cancer.”

This medicine is being tested on patients in a number of Iranian hospitals, he said, highlighting that it is being offered to patients free of any charge while each dosage of it worth $15,000 in the global market.

“Enemies want to influence the production of radiopharmaceuticals in the country by imposing sanctions; for instance, they claim that they are not concerned by pharmaceuticals but then they say airplanes cannot transfer such medicine or impose sanctions against companies which produce radiopharmaceuticals.”

“Though, we will not surrender and will continue our efforts in this field,” he stressed.
