Nikki Haley, the outgoing US ambassador to the UN, has said the United States should not give Saudi Arabia a pass for the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Haley, who will leave her position at the end of the year, made her statements in an interview with US publication The Atlantic.

“You have Saudi government officials that did this in a Saudi consulate. We can’t give them a pass, because that’s not who America is,” Haley said in the interview.

“We can’t condone [the murder], we can’t ever say it’s OK, we can’t ever support thuggish behavior, and we have to say that,” she added, Al Jazeera reported.

Haley also defended the US response to Khashoggi’s death, saying that the sanctioning of 17 Saudi nationals allegedly involved in the murder was a sign that the US is not letting this slide.

The Trump administration is “asking for accountability and we need to continue to do until we get it”, she added.

But Haley refused to point at Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman despite reports US intelligence agencies have linked the de facto ruler of the country directly to the murder of Khashoggi.

“I think all of that, the administration needs to decide,” she said about Salman’s alleged involvement.

Haley, who will be replaced by Heather Nauert in January as US ambassador to the UN, also refused to take US President Donald Trump’s stance that the murder presented the US with a binary choice between either supporting its ally Saudi Arabia or standing up for human rights and values.

According to Haley, the US is able to see Saudi Arabia as a “complete partner when it comes to fighting Iran” but also tell the Saudis that “we’re not going to continue to be your partners if you continue to use thuggish behavior.”

Following the murder, Trump has refused to call out the Saudi leadership for its alleged involvement in the murder, despite US intelligence agencies reportedly presenting him with evidence of it.

Trump has also repeatedly said US arms deals with Saudi Arabia are massively important, while at the same time misstating the amount of money those deals will bring in for the US.

Last month, Trump said that the truth may never come out regarding the Khashoggi murder.

“It could very well be that the crown prince had knowledge of this tragic event — maybe he did and maybe he didn’t,” Trump said in a much criticized statement.

Trump’s comments were echoed by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who said there was “no direct evidence” linking MBS to the murder.

Their comments, however, were disputed by US Senators who said there was “zero chance” MBS was not involved in the Khashoggi killing after they received a briefing on the case by CIA chief Gina Haspel.

Khashoggi’s murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul prompted international outcry and forced many countries to reassess their ties with the kingdom.

After weeks of repeated denials that it had any involvement with his disappearance, Riyadh eventually acknowledged that Saudi officials had planned and executed the killing.

The whereabouts of his remains are still unknown.

The US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, says the United States will probably get out of the Iran nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on the Islamic republic.

Haley made the remarks on Thursday during her lecture titled, “Confronting Today’s Global Governance Challenges,” at Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina.

She accused Iran of supporting terrorism and violating the terms of the 2015 historic nuclear agreement and went on to say that the Europeans are closing their eyes on this but added that the United States would not do that.

Discussing the background of the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, Haley said, “Iran was being a destabilizing country that was causing threats and the international community decided that we needed to come together to find a solution.”

“They give them a $100 billion and say, ‘Behave’. They tell them that where they did have a nuclear activity and research (centers) on their military bases and their universities, that they have the right to inspect them,” she said, repeating the lie her boss, President Donald Trump, often tells to Americans.

“But they’ll give them 28 days’ notice. They do all of this and think that if they treat Iran as a good international neighbor, then they’ll act like a good international neighbor. So we don’t know all things said, the Iran deal, it seems to be they’re following it but they’re yet to check a military installation, they have yet to check a university, they have yet to check those places where we know the activity was going to happen. But let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they are following the deal the way they were supposed to,” she added.

The 100 billion lie

Trump has often denounced the Iran nuclear deal which resulted in the removal of nuclear related international sanctions against the Islamic Republic and Tehran receiving a portion of its own several billions of dollars illegally held by US and European banks.

Trump has falsely claimed that Iran’s assets frozen in overseas banks due to sanctions amounted to around $150 billion, but the actual figure is about one third of this.

The sanctions were imposed based on the unfounded accusation that Iran was pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

“Since taking the $100 billion and the Europeans would agree to this, they have violated a Security Council resolution that bans them from doing any ballistic missile launches, they violated it,” Haley said, parroting another lie of the Trump administration that claims that Iran’s missile program is in breach of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorsed Tehran’s nuclear deal with the P5+1 states.

Tehran maintains that its missile launches fit into its conventional defense doctrine and has nothing to do with the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the six world powers. Iran insists its missile tests do not breach any UN resolutions because they are solely for defense purposes and not designed to carry nuclear warheads.

Haley repeats terrorism accusation, and others

In her lecture, Haley also accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism, saying Iranians continued to support it. “We see it everywhere, whether it’s in Lebanon, whether it’s in Syria, whether they are in Yemen if you see what they are doing, what’s happening in Gaza, all of that, they are only increasing their presence and moving into more territories.”

“And they are not supposed to be selling arms or selling any sort of equipment to other neighbors. And, we know that they are arming the Houthis in Yemen. So you tell me, ‘Do we stay in a deal where they have taken our money, and continue to violate – and the Secretary General and in the United Nations has a report that has listed all of these violations?’” she asked.

“We can be like the Europeans and close our eyes and say we are not going to look. Knowing that there is a sunset that ends in ten to fifteen years and we are already three years into it. Are you comfortable with that? Or do we look at another option; the other option is work with the Europeans. Can we fix these things? Can we stop them from doing ballistic missile launches? Can we get them to stop supporting terrorism? Can we get them to quit from giving to the Houthis and selling arms to them?” he said.

“If the Europeans don’t find a way to help us to do this and we are making an honest effort everyday to trying to get these things changed, let’s say, we do get out of this. What changes? We stay true to our values, that we are not going to support an actor that is supporting terrorism,” she said.

“The Europeans stay in the deal. Fine. They can have it. We can put our sanctions back on. Iran is not going to get out of that deal. They want the trade with the Europeans. They want to keep the $100 billion that they have. They are not going to leave, but we don’t have to be a part of it,” Haley stated.

Haley’s anti-Iran rhetoric comes as the longstanding Western dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program was settled after the conclusion of a landmark nuclear agreement in 2015. UN Security Council Resolution 2231 also endorsed the nuclear deal, which went into effect in January 2016.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also confirmed Iran’s commitment to the terms of the nuclear agreement, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council — the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China — plus Germany started implementing the JCPOA on January 16, 2016.

The deal limited parts of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in exchange for the complete removal of all nuclear sanctions against the country.

“Iran will keep up its way of supporting popular movements of freedom in the region with no doubt,” said the Iranian Leader’s Aide on International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati on Monday.

He made the remarks after new US and Saudi propaganda accusing Iran of providing missiles to Yemeni people who are bombarded by Saudi combat jets.

“They are explicitly accusing our country of interfering in Yemen while implicitely they are denying the braveness, resistance, and dedication of the Yemeni nation,” he asserted after dismissing the US anti-Iran claims of Iran support in Yemen as baseless accusations.

“The Yemeni nation, with a millennial civilization, is a selfless nation who have fought the foreigners for years, decades, and centuries and have assuredly managed to fail Saudi-Emirati coalition and that’s why the aggressors have no way t find a scapegoat like Iran,” said the Iranian former foreign minister who was Iran’s top diplomat for 16 years.

“Of course, if we had the chance to provide humanitarian support for the Yemeni nation we would not spare any efforts,” he noted.

“These claims will solve no problem of Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Us and if they continue their illogical policy in Yemen it will turn into a quagmire similar to what Vietnam meant to Americans,” he warned Saudi and Emirati officials.

“Anyway, the Islamic Republic of Iran is unable to do a serious thing but will keep providing its supports for pro-liberation and pro-Islamic movements the same way we have been doing in the past,” he added.

He described the Monday night banquet of Nikki Haley for the members of United Nations Security Council a puppet show of no effect. US Ambassador to the United Nations is continuing to spew forth inflammatory rhetoric against Iran.

US Ambassador to the United Nations continues to spew forth inflammatory rhetoric against Iran.

In the past year, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has made every effort to oppose and discredit the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In her lame efforts, Haley has tried to convince other members of the US cabinet, such as US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, claiming Iran has not been living up to the bargain.

Haley’s controversial trip to Vienna and her meeting with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano was in line with her desperate attempts to find flaws in Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA, but her efforts were all in vain.

However, she has not given up.

Haley had the cooperation of Senator Tom Cotton, a radical conservative Republican, on discrediting the Iran nuclear deal. On behalf of the Trump administration, she alleges that Iran has not been commitment to the nuclear accord. This bogus claim has been called “a big mistake” by some members of Trump’s cabinet and considered costly for Washington in the international arena, as it could cause a rift in US relations with Europe.

Recently, Haley falsely accused Iran of supplying ballistic missiles used to attack Saudi Arabian forces by the Yemenis, and alleges that she is seeking the endorsement of US allies to provoke Iran. Much to her chagrin, even US intelligence agencies have questioned her egregious claims, making it a hard defeat for the lady diplomat.

Presently, Nikkie Haley is making a feeble attempt to complete her “ballistic missile show” against Iran at the United Nation’s Security Council meeting so that she gains more attention in the international political arena. Some analysts believe that her overambitious attitude in targeting Iran is to impress the White House, as Haley is impatiently waiting to replace US Secretary of State Tillerson, when he either gets fired or resigns. Also of concern have been rumors that Trump was to install Cotton at head of the CIA, and make the current head of the CIA, Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State.

Political rivals of the US Ambassador to the UN are carefully observing her performance as allegations of an extramarital affair between President Trump and Nikkie Haley have been making headline news as of late.

Recently, Haley has invited UN Security Council representatives to Washington in an attempt to further promote Iranophobia in the international community. According to Reuters, Haley is to present to the diplomats with what she claims to be part and parcel of the alleged missile shipments from Iran to the members of the Ansarullah movement in Yemen.

The diplomats are to meet with US President Donald Trump at a White House banquet. The carefully devised misrepresentation prepared by Haley will provide fabricated evidence from Iran’s nonexistent ballistic missile shipment to Yemen. This show of travesty has no basis and rational, and as such, has been highlighted by UN diplomats and by the permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Haley’s despicable campaign against Iran is nothing more than a self-serving ploy to attract attention in the political arena and a failed effort to standout in US foreign diplomacy. Instead, Nikkie Haley has become nothing more than a “defeated diplomat” and an “outdated symbol” of America’s lack of diplomacy in the international community, a process that will inevitably make her an unwelcome and unreliable politician.

TEHRAN – During her presence in the United Nations, the United States representative at the UN has started a full-blown opposition to the Iranian nation.

Nikki Haley, supported by U.S. President Donald Trump, in her visit to Vienna and meeting with IAEA Director-General “Yukio Amano”, has called for Iran’s military sites to be visited by the IAEA “. Also, Nikki Haley was one of Trump’s main promoters for cancelling the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and she’s currently pushing for a walking away from the nuclear deal with Iran. The anti-Iranian approach of Nikki Haley is such that some American analysts specifically refer to her as an anti-Iranian diplomat.

In recent days, Nikki Haley has also been trying to play a strong role in supporting riots and turmoil in Iran. The United States Ambassador to the United Nations called for an emergency meeting on Iran’s unrests in and contributed tothe interventionist policies of the U.S. authorities in our country as well as in the region. Nikki Haley, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, called for the UN Security Council to be held in New York and the Human Rights Council in Geneva. “We should not remain silent,” she said. “Iranian people are striving to achieve their freedom!”Haley also claimed that protests in Iran were not organized by foreign agents. Besides, Nikki Haley has claimed in another statement that the United States wants the voice of Iranian protesters to be better heard by the people of the world!

For sure there is no doubt about the support of Nikki Haley and other members of Trump’s administration of turbulence in Iran. However, Nikki Haley’s diction and her support for the Iranian people and their demands, is in full contradiction with her previous efforts and her confrontation with Iran and Iranians. Nikki Haley’s remarks led to the reaction of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York called the United Nations Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and her show, to be “false and despicable”.
The Iranian Permanent Representative drew attention to “the most recent and wide-ranging attempts by the Government of the United States to intervene in the domestic affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” “In the past few days, the US administration led by the US president has stepped up its acts of intervention in a grotesque way in Iran’s internal affairs under the pretext of providing support for sporadic protests”, he wrote.

It has been stressed in this statement that:“As in all other democracies, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to protect this right, as well as the safety and security of its citizens against acts of violence and destruction”, he added.

In her latest action against our country, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations said this week that Washington was seeking emergency sessions on Iran at the United Nations in New York and at the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva. The White House spokeswoman,”Sarah Sanders” said there are several options to respond to protests in Iran, and boycotting and deciding on (extending) the suspension of sanctions is one of them. But the president has not yet decided on this. In other words, the government of Donald Trump may not extend the suspension of sanctions against Iran in the first month of this year (this month), and thus completely cancel the nuclear deal. As mentioned, Nikki Haley is one of the main encouragers of Trump in this regard.

It should be noted that the American authorities’ proposal regarding the necessity of holding an immediate Security Council meeting aiming at intervening the internal and domestic conditions of Iran has been faced with opposition of the Russian authorities. Senior Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov reacted to the statements made by the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, about the need for an immediate Security Council meeting on Iran. Pushkov wrote in his Twitter page: “Haley is always thinking about peace and security. Before that, she was worried about the situation in Syria and now she is worried about “peace, security and freedom” in Iran. But if we tell the truth, she is thinking of changing the political regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran. ”

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, “Maria Zakharova”, in interpreting the U.S. real intention on holding an immediate Security Council meeting on human rights in Iran, recalled the broad street protests inside the United States and the American authorities’ reaction to them. Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page: “There is definitely lots of advices by the American delegation to share with the world. For example, “Nikki Haley” can talk about the experience of American security forces in suppressing the peaceful protests of the American people during the presidential election campaign, or about the widespread arrests and pressure on the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, or U.S. police clashes with anti-racism protests in Ferguson.”

The fact is that Donald Trump and his administration members like Nikki Haley in the United States, should be prosecuted internationally for racism, terrorism and violence in the world. Obviously, under such circumstances, Nikki Haley’s statements and her sympathy with the rioters in Iran have once again revealed the nature of her and other American authorities’ false statements to the Iranian nation. Nikki Haley, who failed in her previous mission to force the IAEA to disapprove of Iran’s commitment to the JCPOA, would also fail in her new action against the Iranian people, and in this way, her name will be bound with failure and defeat.

A Russian comedy duo apparently pranked US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley, who assured them the US is closely following the situation on the fictional island of Binomo and will “continue to remind” Russia “what their place is.”

Famous Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus (Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov) released the recording of yet another one of their prank calls, in which they allegedly tricked Nikki Haley into believing she was speaking with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, according to RT.

During the 22-minute conversation with their interlocutor, whose voice and tone strikingly resembled that of the UN envoy, the pranksters raised concerns over Russian interference in the political affairs of an imaginary South China Sea island – Binomo – which does not exist on the world map. Haley, however, seemed to be on top of things, claiming the US is watching the situation there very carefully.

“Do you know Binomo?” the impersonator asked. “They have declared independence. They had elections, and we suppose Russians had its intervention.”

“Yes, of course they did, absolutely,” Haley confidently replied.

“And now this Binomo land makes the situation in the South China Sea even more tense,” the pranksters said, posing as the Polish PM.

“And we’re aware of that. We’ve been watching that very closely. And I think we will continue to watch as we deal with the issues that keep coming up about the South China Sea,” Haley replied.

Continuing with the issue of alleged Russian interference in the world’s political affairs, the Polish PM-imposter asked Haley whether or not “Putin (will) be aggressive regarding Europe next year?”

“It is hard to know what Russia is doing right now. I think what we have seen in the Security Council and otherwise is they are trying to be relevant in every region and they are trying to have some sort of say in every region,” she replied. “In some cases, it has worked for them and in some cases, it hasn’t. So they don’t have the influence that I think they would like to have but they are certainly trying to get that.”

“I think that many of the other countries, whether it is the Security Council or otherwise, are watching it very cautiously and carefully to make sure that they don’t get too much of a foothold where they can cause chaos,” she continued.

“They are aggressive and they can be difficult to work in the Council… And they do try to cause some disruption, but we manage them and we continue to remind them what their place is,” Haley told the ‘Polish PM,’ just days before Poland begins a two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The last comment seems to have struck a nerve with Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, who took to Facebook to criticize Haley’s rhetoric. “Nikki, do you really want Russia to remember all of its ‘places’ in the world?” Maria Zakharova asked, calling the remarks of the US’ UN representative “somehow short-sighted.”

While Nikki Haley has neither officially denied nor confirmed the authenticity of the conversation, she very well might have become the latest victim of the Russian pranksters, who have become famous for their unique ability to reach out to high-profile politicians and celebrities.

Vovan and Lexus have made a name for themselves in Russia for pranking high-profile politicians and celebrities. In September 2015, the pair played a prank on Sir Elton John, subsequently forcing the Kremlin to apologize and arrange a real phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the iconic musician. Before that, the duo successfully pranked Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, as well as Georgia’s fugitive former president, Mikhail Saakashvili.

A UN Security Council resolution calling for the withdrawal of Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem (al-Quds) as Israel’s capital has been backed by every council member except the U.S., which used its veto.

The unanimity of the rest of the council was a stark rebuke to the Trump administration over its unilateral move earlier this month, which upended decades of international consensus.

The Egyptian-drafted resolution did not specifically mention the U.S. or Trump but expressed “deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem”.
A spokesman for the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, responded to the veto by saying it was “unacceptable and threatens the stability of the international community because it disrespects it”.

The UK and France had indicated in advance that they would back the text, which demanded that all countries comply with pre-existing UNSC resolutions on Jerusalem, dating back to 1967, including requirements that the city’s final status be decided in direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

The resolution was denounced in furious language by the U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, who described it as “an insult” that would not be forgotten. “The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy,” she said.

“It’s scandalous to say we are putting back peace efforts,” she added. “The fact that this veto is being done in defense of American sovereignty and in defense of America’s role in the Middle East peace process is not a source of embarrassment for us; it should be an embarrassment to the remainder of the security council.”
The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, tweeted: “Thank you, Ambassador Haley. On Hanukkah, you spoke like a Maccabi. You lit a candle of truth. You dispel the darkness. One defeated the many. Truth defeated lies. Thank you, President Trump.”

The tabling of the resolution followed a weekend of negotiations aimed at securing the widest consensus possible on the issue. The vote has underlined once again the widespread international opposition to the U.S. move, even among some of its closest allies.

It came ahead of a planned trip by the U.S. vice-president, Mike Pence, to Jerusalem on Wednesday that was set to take place amid a deep rupture in U.S.-Palestinian relations.

However, Pence announced on Monday night that he was postponing the trip until February, citing the imminent congressional votes on tax reform, set to take place in the House and Senate starting on Tuesday. “The vice-president is committed to seeing the tax cut through to the finish line,” his spokeswoman said.

The Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party has called for a day of demonstrations in the occupied Palestinian territories to coincide with the Pence trip.

Palestinian officials had warned that in the event of a US veto on the Security Council, they would also seek a resolution at the general assembly.

The push for a vote – which came in the knowledge that the U.S. would use its veto – followed Trump’s decision to upend decades of policy by declaring that the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and that he plans to move its embassy there.

Speaking before the vote, the UK’s ambassador to the UN, Matthew Rycroft, said the text was in line with London’s position on Jerusalem as an issue that must be resolved through negotiations.

In an apparent rejection of the authority of the Security Council, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Dann, said ahead of the vote: “Members of the council can vote again and again — for a hundred more times. It won’t change the simple fact that Jerusalem is, has been, and always will be the capital of Israel.”

An Iranian MP says that Saad Hariri’s resignation, US embassy move, and the Nikki Haley’s false claim against Iran are all Washington’s retaliatory measures for the fall of ISIL.

“Nikki Haley was trying to copy Colin Powel’s show and we have to follow up the criminal cases of US involvement in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria with exerting more pressure,” said Morteza Saffari Natanzi, the MP of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee who heads the foreign relations sub-committee of the commission.

The Iranian legislator was referring to Colin Powel’s argument in which he was trying to justify the 2013 US war on Iraq.

“This staged show was inspired by the previous show of Colin Powel, the then Secretary of State of US, and they believed that they can do the same thing here now,” he said rejecting the accusations by US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley that a missile fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen last month was supplied by the Islamic Republic..

“Despite the efforts of the Americans, the public opinion is more conscious now than before and even US close friends did not buy into this tale and the UN spokesperson implicitly denied these claims,” highlighted the Iranian MP.

“The Americans are after delivering a blow against the Islamic Republic to make up for the defeat of ISIL by Iran’s hands, and that’s why we should be more vigilant now and adopt timely counter-stances to foil their plots,” said Mr. Saffari Natanzi.

The Iranian law-maker added that after the downfall of the ISIL, a chain of countermeasures have been set up by US against Iran, such as the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri under the pretext of Iran’s interference in Lebanon, US embassy move to al-Quds, and most recently Haley’s accusations about Iran’s involvment in Yemen.

“The Americans won’t stop after this fake show,” he said. “I see it unlikely that the UN Security Council get swayed by the US claims with such an atmosphere because surely Russia and China won’t accept these claims and the Europeans are no longer buying into such issues,” he said.

Iran’s UN mission has categorically dismissed as “unfounded” US Ambassador Nikki Haley’s claim that a missile fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen last month was supplied by the Islamic Republic.

In a statement released on Thursday, the mission denounced the US allegations as “irresponsible, provocative and destructive,” saying “this purported evidence … is as much fabricated as the one presented on some other occasions earlier.”

“These accusations seek also to cover up for the Saudi war crimes in Yemen, with the US complicity, and divert international and regional attention from the stalemate war of aggression against the Yemenis that has so far killed more than 10,000 civilians, displaced three million, crippled Yemen’s infrastructure and health system and pushed the country to the brink of the largest famine the world has seen for decades, as the UN has warned,” the statement read.

It went on to accuse the US government of being “constantly at work to deceive the public into believing the cases they put together” to advance its agenda.

“While Iran has not supplied Yemen with missiles, these hyperboles are also to serve other US agendas in the Middle East, including covering up for its adventurist acts in the region and its unbridled support for the Israeli regime,” the statement read.

It also stressed “the Yemenis’ right to self-defense” and reiterated that the conflict in the impoverished country had no military solution.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also took to twitter to compare Haley’s allegations against Iran to those of former US secretary of defense, Colin Powell, who alleged in 2003 that former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, was hiding weapons of mass destruction in order to make a case for attacking the country.

Displaying some fragments of weaponary at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling just outside of Washington, US defence ministry presenting some explanations tried to concluded that they came from Iran.

The arms included charred remnants of what the Pentagon said was an Iranian-made short-range ballistic missile fired from Yemen on Nov. 4 at King Khaled International Airport outside Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, as well as a drone and an anti-tank weapon recovered in Yemen by the Saudis.

“The US has long believed that Iran is providing weaponry to proxies and partners and militias throughout the region, and what we have here to show you today is proof,” said Pentagon spokeswoman Laura Seal.

In a similar way In 2003 using the same tactic, the US invaded Iraq after Colin Powell, the former US secretary of state justified the invasion resorting to misleading intelligence.

Powell, the first secretary of state in the administration of George W. Bush, the former republican US president, which declared war on Iraq in 2003, later told Al Jazeera on the 10th anniversary of the Sep 11th attacks on US soil that the information was a “blot on my record”.
