TEHRAN (Iran News) –A member of the Iranian Parliament’s presiding board told Tasnim on Wednesday that the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Pezeshkian will be held on Tuesday, July 30.

The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by the head of the Supreme Court of Iran, the members of the Constitutional Council, the Judiciary chief, and other top political and military officials, Mojtaba Yousefi added.

He said the parliamentary law stipulates that the new president should present his plans and introduce his ministers within two weeks after inauguration.

The lawmakers will then discuss the credentials of the proposed ministers for a week before holding a final session on the votes of confidence, he noted.

Pezeshkian was elected to the Parliament as a representative of the northwestern city of Tabriz in the parliamentary elections on March 1.

After the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19, Pezeshkian became one of six final candidates singled out by the Constitutional Council from 80 applicants seeking the presidency.

He won the highest number of votes in the first round of the presidential election on June 28 and faced off the runner-up, Saeed Jalili, in the runoff election on July 5.

The physician-turned-politician won the runoff by garnering 53.66% of the votes.

His new administration, the 14th one after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, will hold office for four years.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – New Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi hosted a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo in Tehran on Friday, Shana reported.

Barkindo briefed Raisi on the condition of the global oil market and emphasized the significant role of the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the founders of this organization which has always played a key and constructive role in the oil market.

In the meeting, Raisi also referred to the efforts of some powers to weaken the position of OPEC and noted that the OPEC secretariat should consider the rights and interests of its members as the basis for adopting all measures and mechanisms.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as an effective member of OPEC, emphasizes on promoting the global position of this organization and promoting its role in managing the global energy market,” he stated.

Congratulating the 60th anniversary of OPEC establishment, Raisi expressed hope that the organization would become more active and constructive in the future and the members would be more coordinated and cooperative.

“The OPEC Secretariat should play a more active role for coordinating between member and non-member countries,” the president stressed.

Iran completely ready to return to oil market

On the same day, Barkindo also met with the outgoing Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh to discuss the oil market and the possibility of Iran’s return to the market.

Speaking in this meeting, Zanganeh noted that after the re-imposition of U.S. sanctions Iran was robbed of its right for exporting two million barrels per day (bpd) of oil which would equal about $120 billion of revenues.

The minister expressed Iran’s complete readiness for returning to the oil market after the U.S. sanctions are lifted.

He further underlined the critical role that OPEC plays in the global economy, saying: “OPEC is the only third world economic organization that is influencing the world’s economic interactions.”

The key concept that OPEC has been able to act on and succeed in, has been cooperation among members despite rivalry and political differences, as we saw in the recent meeting.

Barkindo for his part praised Zanganeh’s positive work and actions during his tenure, adding: “We hope that Iran will continue to play a key and important role in OPEC and the oil market.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Islamic Republic of Iran in recent days had been busy with holding two ceremonies regarding the endorsement and swear-in where its eighth president, Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, officially took office as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

More than 100 officials from 82 countries took part in Raisi’s inauguration ceremony, including 10 heads of state, 20 parliament speakers, 11 foreign ministers and 10 ministers, as well as special envoys, deputy parliament speakers and chairmen of parliamentary commissions and parliamentary delegations.

A high-level delegation from the European Union (EU), led by the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora, has participated in Raisi’s inauguration. The presence of this amount of foreign guests bespeaks the significance of Raisi’s presidency for the world as well as the Iranian nation.

The new president opens a new era for the Islamic Republic of Iran and its nation while the country is struggling with several domestic and foreign challenges and problems. After the exit of a pro-West government, now a revolutionary President has taken office in the country and it is expected him to bring back the country to the course of prosperity and more successes and to correct the mistakes of the former governments.

At first, President Raisi should pick of a revolutionary cabinet, comprised of skilful and committed ministers, in order to rebuild the executive system. The former president and his team had pinned his and their hopes on talks with the West and had closed their eyes on the domestic potentials and capabilities but the new president has different view and is more focused on the domestic capabilities.

President Raisi’s presidential election campaign slogan has been to fight the corruption and to promote the justice in the country where it had been missed badly during President Hassan Rouhani’s era. Picking up the committed, skilful and sincere and above of all young and energetic ministers can help the new president and the government to restore public trust to the government and establishment which has been damaged during President Rouhani’s terms.

As Raisi has reiterated, he will not tie the national economy or affairs to the relations with the West or any country in the world or to the JCPOA talks in Vienna but he has reiterated that his government welcomes any talks with the world but it does not mean that Iran would retreat from its rights because of the talks. The new president has also said that diplomacy must strengthen relations among nations of the region.

President’s major domestic challenges are coronavirus pandemic, inflation and the economy which have put the country in a unstable condition because of the passiveness of the former government. Now the nation, especially the middleclass and working class in the country, has pinned its hopes on Raisi’s revolutionary decisions to recover the national economy especially the inflation and unemployment and to stop spread of economic corrupt especially in the government body.

The countdown has begun for a new era in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the return of unity and trust to the country which has been badly damaged during the former government and Raisi has proved during his two years in the Judiciary that he is able to reform the executive system and to clean it from the corruption and unnecessary bureaucratic process which is a major hurdle in way of the national progress. Because of the good performance in the Judiciary, people have voted for Raisi as president and with the backing of his 18 million voters, he can do drastic reshuffle in the executive system that the nation expects it.

The nation should not expect him to resolve the problems overnight because the problems created by the former governments are so that Raisi needs more time to overcome them. Now everybody is waiting for his picks for the cabinet which is very important for the future of the government and the nation. He needs a revolutionary government to bring back the country to the correct economic track which has been derailed during Rouhani’s era. As the country is encircled with enemies’ plots and threats, the president needs an all-out support.

The president, as he has promised in the past, should rely more on the domestic potentials and pick-up in the domestic production which will accelerate the economic boom in the country. He needs unity and cooperation of all walks of the life in country to sail the country out of the current woes and as he has repeatedly said, he is the president of all 88m Iranians and not just the president of those 18m people who have voted for him. As a popular proverb says, “In unity there is strength”.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Revolutionary Values, Top Priorities of New President. Iran’s President-elect Hojjatoleslam Raisi held his first press conference yesterday after clinching a landslide victory in the June 28 presidential election and in his opening remarks he said the Iranian nation voiced their message to the world through the presidential poll, noting that “one message was national unity and coherence.”

“The message of the Iranian nation was the necessity of a change in the economic situation,” he said.

The message of the Iranian nation, he continued, was the need to fight corruption, poverty and discrimination, and in one word the realization of justice in all aspects of the people’s lives.

“This vast and meaningful presence of the people occurred in spite of the coronavirus situation and hostilities and the psychological warfare of Iran’s enemies,” he said.

Raisi said the message of the Iranian nation is insistence on the values of the glorious Islamic Revolution and steadfastness on the path of the late founder of the Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and the martyrs, especially General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in January 2020 by the United States.

He said the United States’ “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran has failed to bring the Iranian nation to their knees.

His government, Raisi said, will not pursue attritional talks with world powers with the aim of bringing the United States back into compliance with the 2015 nuclear agreement, which Washington abandoned in 2018 under former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Raisi said the U.S. must remove the sanctions in a verifiable way in order for Tehran to reverse the nuclear steps it took in response to the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal.

He said the current negotiating team involved in the ongoing talks in the Austrian capital, Vienna, will continue to hold the negotiations as the transition to the new administration takes place.

Raisi urged the U.S. to return to its commitments under the nuclear deal, known by its acronym as the JCPOA, noting that the Iranian people have shown resistance and perseverance in the face of the maximum pressure campaign, which included tough economic sanctions targeting the people’s livelihood.

“The foreign policy of our administration will not start from the JCPOA nor will it be restricted to the JCPOA,” he said, stressing that he intends to develop constructive and balanced relations with all countries.

Raisi said any negotiation that secures Iran’s national interests will be supported by his administration, but “we will not tie the economic situation and people’s [livelihood] to these negotiations and we will not allow talks for the sake of talks.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Raisi pledged to bring back the lost public trust in the Iranian government, saying he hopes people will feel that his administration is the administration of bringing hope and building trust.

The president-elect promised that his administration will not be limited to a specific political party or group, pledging that he will be open to any governmental manager who is a patriot and wants to serve the people and the Islamic Revolution.

“Anyone whose heart beats for the people and the Revolution will be our partner everywhere in the country,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to foreign policy, saying, “The world should know that the situation has changed with this epic presence of the dear people of Iran. To date, the maximum pressure on our people has not worked, they must reconsider and return [their commitments]. Our nation has shown resistance to the pressures, and the world should know that our government’s foreign policy does not start with the JCPOA because it will not be limited to the JCPOA.”

“We will pursue interaction with all countries of the world as a principle of broad and balanced interaction in foreign policy and in any negotiation in which national interests are guaranteed, this negotiation will certainly be supported, but we will not tie the economic situation and the conditions of the people to the negotiations,” he underlined.

“We will not allow negotiations to take place in face of other negotiation, we will not allow negotiations to be eroding. Every meeting should have benefits for the great nation of Iran. Then we will continue negotiations in order to remove restrictions and sanctions,” Raisi said.

In response to a question by Euro News correspondent about the importance of the JCPOA to his administration and his message to the United States and Europe, Raisi reiterated, “European countries and the United States must consider what they have done to the JCPOA; The United States violated the deal and the Europeans did not fulfill their obligations.”

“The U.S. should return to the JCPOA and fulfil all its commitments to the nuclear deal. The Europeans must not be influenced by American pressure and act on what they have promised; This is the demand of the Iranian nation from them,” he added.

In response to a question from a Press TV correspondent who asked about his plan to revive the JCPOA and force the United States to lift sanctions, the president-elect stated, “What has been the policy of the Islamic Republic and it has been stated many times is that our nuclear actions are peaceful actions and in line with the rules that this science and knowledge have in various fields of industry, agriculture and medicine. The actions of the Islamic Republic so far have been taken in accordance with the declarations of international organizations within the framework of laws and regulations.”

“Despite the fact that the actions of the Islamic Republic, according to their own statement, were carried out within the framework of the regulations, why do they place obstacles and problems in the way of Iran’s nuclear actions, while they have repeatedly admitted that Iran’s nuclear actions have not had any problems so far,” he noted.

The President-elect said on the issue of relations with Saudi Arabia, “Relations with all countries of the world, especially relations with neighboring countries are important to us; Our priority will be relations with our neighbors, and there is no obstacle on the part of the Islamic Republic regarding the reopening of embassies between the two countries in relation to Saudi Arabia.”

“We have been pursuing relations with China since the beginning of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and various governments, and today we have good relations with China and there is a lot of potential between the two countries,” said Raisi in response to the Chinese correspondent.

“We will definitely work to revive these capacities and have very good relations with China, and the comprehensive plan will be one of the documents, and the implementation of this plan will definitely be on the agenda,” he added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Missile program is non-negotiable. Ebrahim Raisi who overwhelmingly won the presidential election on June 18 held a press conference on Monday to elaborate on his major domestic and foreign policy priorities.

In his preliminary remarks, the president-elect praised people’s participation in the June 18 elections, calling it an epic. He said it sent an “important message” to the entire world.

He said people high turnout in the election took place despite the coronavirus pandemic, propaganda by the enemies, and economic hardship.

This is an excerpt of his remarks:

The message of the election was to administer “justice” and “fight corruption”.

My administration will remain loyal to the promises that I have made during the presidential campaigns.

I want to improve the economic condition of the people, improve their livelihood.

To administer a law-abiding and effective managerial system.

I also thank services by the successive governments since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. However, in certain cases due to mismanagement Iran is facing problems and is lagging behind.

The West should know that situation has changed

The world, particularly the West, should realize that the situation in Iran has changed through the people’s vote.

Our foreign policy will not begin with the JCPOA and will not end with the JCPOA.

We will seek a “balanced relationship” with the outside world.

“National interests” will be considered in negotiations with foreigners.

Negotiations should produce results.

The United States should have realized that “maximum pressure” on Iran has been fruitless.

The JCPOA has been “violated” by the U.S. and the Europeans have also not abided by their commitments under the multilateral agreement.

Iran wants Europeans to commit themselves to their obligations.

Liquidity should be directed toward production

Liquidity should be managed. It should be directed toward the production sector.

We will make production “enticing”.

And we also should administer an effective tax system and make certain business activities like those in gold market and housing unattractive.

All sanctions must be lifted

All sanctions must be lifted and their removal must be verified. America must abide by its commitments under the nuclear agreement.

As a lawyer I defend human rights

As a lawyer I have always defended the people’s rights. I have defended human rights.

Those who have violated the rights of people in the world must be held answerable.

Instead, those who have defended the rights of the people should be praised.

Even today I consider myself tasked to defend the right of all people all around the world.

This is my honor as prosecutor general to defend the rights and welfare of the people.

Bident must lift all sanctions

Biden must prove his sincerity by lifting all sanctions.
