In a final match that ended minutes ago in Tehran’s Azadi sports complex, the Iranian national volleyball team gained an easy win against Australia, to which it had lost in the group stage of the 2019 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship.

The Iranian squad trounced their rival in three straight sets (25-14; 25-17; 25-21) to become the champion in the Asian competitions.

Iran wins S. Korea to book a place at Asian Volleyball C’ship finals

Team Melli will meet the winners of Japan and Australia match on Saturday.

The event is a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian volleyball governing body, the Asian Volleyball Federation (AVC). The tournament is being held from Sept. 13 to 21.

Top eight teams of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Jiangmen, China from 7 to 12 January 2020, where the winners will qualify to the 2020 men’s Olympic volleyball tournament.

Iran thrashes China 3-0 at 2019 Asian Volleyball C’ship

The Iranian volleyball team began the second stage of the 2019 Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship with a decisive victory over China.

The Iranian players thrashed China in three straight sets (25-18; 25-23; and 25-17).

Iran is in Pool E along with Australia, China and India. The Iranian team will take on India on Wednesday where a victory will secure the team’s berth to the semifinal.

Iran advanced from the group stage of the Asian competitions in the second place of group A after easy wins versus Sri Lanka and Qatar and a defeat against Australia.

After its second victory against Qatar Iran booked a place in the 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualifications.

Iran trounces Qatar 3-0 at Asian Volleyball C’ship

In a Saturday match in Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex, the Iranian national volleyball team defeated Qatar in three straight sets 3-0 (25-18; 25-15; 25-17).

The match was Iranian squad’s second match at the 2019 Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship. In its first match on Friday, Iran gained a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23) victory over Sri Lanka.

Iran is in Group A of the event along with Sri Lanka, Australia and Qatar. The third match versus Australia starts tomorrow in Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex at 6 PM local time.

With this win, Iran has booked a place in the 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualifications.

As many as 16 teams compete in 4 groups to determine the continental champion. Also, eight best teams of the event will advance to 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in China’s Jiangmen in January where the winner will win the Olympics quota.

Iran demonstrates power with three-set win over Sri Lanka

The 20th edition of the event kicked off on Friday in Tehran’s 12,000-seater Azadi stadium with 16 teams in participation.

Igor Kolaković’s men didn’t face a serious challenge in their first game as they managed to win Sri Lanka in three straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-23).

Pourya Yali led the scoring for Iran with 17 points from 14 attacks and a team-leading 3 blocks.

Kolaković didn’t field its top guns in this match to save them for more important games ahead. The team will take on Qatar on Saturday.

Iran is in Group A of the event along with Sri Lanka, Australia and Qatar.

Iran finishes 7th at Asian Women’s Volleyball Championships

The national Iranian women’s volleyball team beat their rival in the last match while it was two sets down.
Losing the first two sets to Indonesia (25-27, 18-25), Iranian volleyball players made a dramatic comeback and won the next three sets (25-20, 25-13, 15-13) to stand on the 7th position.
Iran began the tournament with a 0-3 loss against the powerful host country. Gaining a precious victory over Hong Kong in the second match, Iran advanced to the next stage.
However, they suffered another three consecutive defeats against Thailand, Taiwan and Kazakhstan before winning in their final game.
At the end of the tournament, which was held in Seoul from August 18 to 25, Japan and Thailand finished first and runner-up respectively.

Tokyo 2020 Volleyball Qualification: Iran 3-0 Mexico

Iran’s national volleyball team beat Mexico 3-0 on Saturday in the 2020 Olympic qualifiers.

This was Iran’s second step towards the 2020 Olympics Games. The Iranian squad defeated Cuba yesterday 3-2 within the framework of the same competitions.

Iran is drawn in Pool E of the Intercontinental Qualification Tournaments alongside Russia, Cuba and Mexico. Top 24 teams in the FIVB ranking table will compete in this stage in 6 groups and only one team from each group will earn the direct quota to Tokyo.

Japan has already won its place in the event as the host and the five remaining teams will be determined in Continental Olympic Qualification tournaments from January 6 to 12, 2020.

For its last match, Iran will take on Russia tomorrow and if its wins, it will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Iran wins Cuba with dramatic comeback: 2020 Olympic qualifiers

Igor kolaković’s men recorded a great comeback to win their first match in 2020 Olympic qualifiers which is underway in Russia’s Saint Petersburg.

Iran will face off Mexico on Saturday before locking horns with Russia on Sunday.

The qualifiers kicked off today and go through August 11.

Japan has already won its place in the event as the host and the five remaining teams will be determined in Continental Olympic Qualification tournaments from January 6 to 12, 2020.

According to the news service of the Iranian Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei issued a message on Sunday to congratulate the recent winning of the world title by Iran’s national men’s U21 volleyball team.

“I congratulate your victory. You brought joy and happiness to the hearts of the nation. Thank you, ” the Leader message reads.

The Iranian national men’s U21 volleyball team defeated Italy 3-2 in the final match of FIVB Men’s U21 Volleyball World Championship in Bahrain last night.
