TEHRAN (Iran News) The Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, says Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh met with his Russian counterpart, Andrei Belousov, during an official visit to Russia.

Speaking with the IRNA correspondent on Monday, Jalali said that the two defense ministers held a strategic meeting in Moscow.

He emphasized that their discussions concentrated on enhancing bilateral cooperation in defense and military areas.

Additionally, he said that Iran’s Defense Minister had previously participated in a high-level meeting on Sunday between Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Iran and Russia enjoy a close diplomatic and political relationship, and both remain under Western sanctions and pressure.

In January, the two countries signed a Comprehensive Strategic Agreement, aimed at expanding bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, science, technology, culture, and tourism.

TEHRAN (Iran News)  Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has arrived in Russia’s capital of Moscow as part of a diplomatic campaign to rally the world against Israel.

Minister Araqchi arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on Sunday night.

Before traveling to Moscow, he was in Istanbul, Turkey to participate in an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (O.I.C.) that was held to discuss the Israeli and U.S. war of aggression on Iran.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran, including residential buildings in Tehran, in an unprovoked act of aggression overnight on June 13. Top Iranian military officials were assassinated in targeted strikes. Civilians died when houses were directly struck. Entire population centers were affected.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed new military commanders later that same day and said life would turn bleak for Israel. Shortly afterwards, the Iranian Armed Forces promised to “open the gates of hell” to Israel and began waves of punitive strikes inside the Israeli-occupied territories, hitting sensitive sites in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, among other cities, with salvos of missiles and drones.

The United States carried out strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday, becoming a direct party to the Israeli aggression.

Ayatollah Khamenei had already warned the United States that its intervention would bring America “irreparable harm.”

TEHRAN (Iran News)  A representative to the state-owned Russian Export Center (REC) says Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s last month visit to Moscow and the signing of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership created legal avenues to eliminate obstacles in the way of trade between the two countries.

Khosrow Hassan Begoff made the remark in an exclusive interview with IRNA, which was published on Sunday, commenting on the visit by Pezeshkian on January 17 when he and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin signed the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Begoff said that Pezeshkian’s visit marks a significant advancement in the strategic partnership between Iran and Russia, and that his meeting with Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin demonstrated a mutual commitment to deepening cooperation in various sectors, including energy, transportation, agriculture and advanced technologies.

The Russian representative also said that the signing of the treaty is a historical milestone that opens new horizons for mutual trade and is expected to significantly grow trade, particularly in agriculture, energy, and mechanical engineering, in the coming years.

The treaty lays the groundwork for ambitious projects such as the construction of transportation corridors, including the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which connects Russia to Iran and India, the official said.

Moreover, the agreement facilitates negotiations on customs procedures, banking and financial transactions, and investments between Tehran and Moscow, he said, adding that the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran is expected to enhance the trade exchanges between the Islamic Republic and the Russian Federation as well.

He concluded that President Pezeshkian’s trip to Moscow and the signing of the treaty opened new avenues for enhancing cooperation between Iran and Russia.

Ali Bagheri Kani made the comments during a meeting with Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Alexander Venediktov in Moscow on Friday, as the Israeli regime is relentlessly bombarding the defenseless people of Gaza.

According to the Russian security official, the United States is the main cause of the current crisis in Palestine.

Venediktov went on to say that the U.S. aims to incite unrest by establishing hotspots throughout West Asia.

He added that the White House officials show no interest in advancing regional security and peace.

Additionally, Venediktov formally invited Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, to visit Moscow to address the most recent mutual, regional, and international concerns.

Bagheri Kani visited Moscow on Thursday at the request of his Russian counterpart to discuss the Gaza conflict.

During his stay, he met Abu Marzouk, a Hamas Politburo member. During the meeting, the deputy foreign minister said Tehran’s “priority is an immediate cease-fire, providing assistance to the people and lifting the repressive blockade of Gaza.”

Also on Thursday, Iran and Russia’s deputy foreign ministers met to discuss the situation in the Caucasus, highlighting the 3+3 format meeting in Tehran to promote peace and stability in the South Caucasus region without outside intervention.

Bagheri Kani and Mikhail Galuzin also addressed a wide variety of issues concerning Iran-Russia cooperation.

Additionally, Bagheri Kani held talks with Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister for North and South American countries. They exchanged views on cooperation among BRICS countries as well as international security.

As reported, the MOU was signed by the TCCIMA Deputy Head Mehdi Sadeghi Niaraki and the head of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce in the presence of Governor of Tehran Province Alireza Fakhari, on the sidelines of the 4th Made in Russia International Export Forum and exhibition in Moscow.

According to Niaraki the MOU is aimed to develop cooperation in the field of information exchange, exchanging delegations, introducing capacities, and holding joint conferences and exhibitions.

A delegation of Iranian economic operators, headed by Fakhari traveled to Mosco to attend the Made in Russia Exhibition.

In a meeting between the board members of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce and Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexey Dedov in Tehran in early July, the two sides explored ways of facilitating mutual business exchanges.

During the meeting which was held at the place of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), the board members of the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce called on the Russian side to ease the conditions for issuing business visas for Iranian traders and to make the process of issuing certificates of origin online.

Speaking at the meeting, Hadi Tizhoush-Taban, the head of the Iran-Russia joint chamber of commerce, emphasized using the capacity of the Iranian Trade Center in Astrakhan and referred to it as a suitable platform to establish communication between interested Iranian and Russian business units to cooperate with each other.

He underlined the need for facilitating the process of issuing visas for Iranian businessmen by the Russian government, saying: “It is necessary to provide conditions so that the businessmen and economic operators of both sides can benefit from the two countries’ trade capacities.”

Elsewhere in the gathering, Deputy Head of the Iran-Russia Chamber of Commerce Abdollah Mohajer pointed to the good political relations between the two countries and said: “Despite the strong political relations between the two countries, we have not been able to use the capacities in the economic sector and strengthen the level of relations in line with the political ties.”

He further informed about the interest in the northern provinces of Iran to increase the level of business relations with different cities of Russia and said: “Russian ambassador, as a representative of the government of this country, can take serious steps in order to improve business relations and joint investment.”

Dedov for his part talked about the efforts that are being made by the Russian government to remove the obstacles facing the commercial relations between the two countries and expressed hope that continuous meetings should be held to achieve this goal.

Also, in late May, the former Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam-Hossein Shafeie called for the development of infrastructure along with the strengthening of the trade between Iran and Russia, the ICCIMA portal reported.

“Arrangements should be made for the development of the transportation and customs infrastructures in line with the development of the two countries’ trade ties,” Shafeie said in an Iran-Russia Specialized business forum held on the sidelines of the “Russia – Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2023” in Russia.

“The relations between Iran and the Russian Federation, especially in the commercial and economic fields, have a positive and growing perspective, and good developments are expected for the future of these relations,” Shafeie said.

Referring to the capacities of developing economic relations with Iran, the official emphasized: “Iran has great potentials like the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia, the gas reserves of Russia, and the mineral reserves of Australia, and this is a great blessing that can be the basis and justification for the development of relations with any country.”

He reiterated that Iran and Russia beside their close relation have close views on the regional and international issues. He added that two countries have close cooperation for restoring peace and broadening  economic cooperation in SCO, EAEU as well as in the Caspian Sea.

He went on to say that free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU is of the main factors for easing economic relation between Iran and Russia and expressed hope by using those capacities, the grounds for broadening trade exchanges as well as investment for joint production would be paved.

Bazrpash then pointed to the determination of Tehran for broadening friendly relation with friendly and neighboring countries and wished Russia peace, welfare, tranquility and development.

Then Ambassador of Russia to Tehran Alexey Dedov, for his part, welcome Bazrpash to the event and said that his country has set its relation with all countries based on mutual respect and the best example for his claim is friendly relation with Iran that despite sanctions against both countries, Russia’s exchanges with Iran are broadening in all fields.

He said this year so far presidents of both countries four times have talked on phone and they have met each other in international events and supported each other.

He then pointed to the importance of the North-South Corridor and said that Russia welcomes cooperation with Iran in this project.

Manteghi announced the plan at the opening of the 11th Iran International Airshow & Aerospace Exhibition which he described as a starting point for strategic cooperation and advancement in the country’s aviation industry.

“One of the important discussions of this exhibition is networking and providing a platform to achieve the desired accomplishments in the aviation industry,” he said.

Manteghi said some of the results of the previous exhibitions were the placement of knowledge-based companies in the supply chain and manufacturing of airplanes and helicopters, as well as the development of UAVs in the commercial sectors of the country, and the creation of a consortium between technological companies for the design and development of airplanes and helicopters.

In the current exhibition, the joint cooperation between Iranian and Russian aviation industries in the field of joint cooperation in the MRO of commercial aircraft, construction of aircraft with a capacity of 100 to 150 passengers by the Russian Aviation Union, as well as joint cooperation in the design and manufacturing of 70 to 100 passenger aircraft and ka226 helicopters in Iran are strictly pursued in Iran, Manteghi emphasized.

Over 90 Iranian and foreign companies are taking part in the 11th Iran International Airshow & Aerospace Exhibition from 13 to 16 December 2022, in the Persian Gulf Kish Island.

The Kish Air Show also known as Persian Gulf Airshow is an aviation exhibition that is held biennially on Kish Island. The first edition of the exhibition was held in 2002, as 11 foreign companies from France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Slovakia, and Switzerland took part in the expo.

In August, the head of the Civil Aviation Organization unveiled plans to produce a 50-seat passenger plane as part of efforts to counter the West which he said is waging a full-scale war against Iran’s aviation sector.

“The idea and plan to build a passenger plane has been around for years. It is an order and strategy that the Islamic Republic is following,” Mohammad Mohammadi-Bakhsh said.

According to Mohammadi-Bakhsh, three platforms of 50-, 72- and 150-seat passenger planes have been prepared, wherein the country’s needs have been taken into account.

The production will start with a 50-seat model at the Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries Corporation based in the central city of Shahin Shahr, he said.

The civil aviation program includes a 10-year roadmap charting out the direction which it has to take according to the needs of the regional and extra-regional markets.

Iran’s aviation industry depended on foreign consultants, mainly Americans, before the 1979 Islamic Republic to keep the fleet airworthy, but amid the sanctions the job today is done by Iranian specialists.

“Sanctions in the aviation sector is a light word. We are in a full-scale war with the West. In this regard, we use all our capacities to make the sanctions ineffective and less effective, which we have been successful so far,” Mohammadi-Bakhsh said then.
