Defense minister: Newer, more advanced missiles will be used if Israel attacks again

TEHRAN (Iran News) Nasirzadeh told reporters on Wednesday that in the 12-day Israeli-imposed war in June, the Islamic Republic was not only facing the occupying regime but also the full logistical, intelligence, and support capacity of the United States.

He said the missiles that were used in the war had been produced years earlier by the Ministry of Defense, adding, “Today we have manufactured and deployed missiles with far better capabilities compared to those used previously, and if the Zionist enemy embarks on another adventurism, we will definitely use these missiles.”

Nasirzadeh stressed that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic did not rely on any foreign sources during the 12-day war.

“Everything that was used in the war was produced by our defense industries, and the world witnessed that the missiles we deployed precisely hit their targets and inflicted heavy damage on the Zionist enemy,” he said.

He said that although the Israeli regime’s media censorship did not allow the full impact of the Iranian missiles to be shown, reports about their strikes were gradually released, which demonstrated the capability of Iran’s Armed Forces.

The defense minister said that during the war, Israel used its most advanced defense systems, including THAAD, Patriot, Iron Dome, and Arrow. Despite that, he added, in the early days, only about 40 percent of Iran’s missiles were intercepted, while in the final days, 90 percent of them were hitting their targets.” advanced missiles ”

Nasirzadeh concluded that if the war had continued, the upper hand would have certainly belonged to the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic.

Israel attacked Iran in an unprovoked act of aggression on June 13, assassinating military commanders and nuclear scientists in targeted strikes, and killing civilians in air raids on residential areas. The war was halted on June 24 after the Tel Aviv regime requested a ceasefire following retaliatory missile strikes by Iran.

TEHRAN (Iran News) In the second statement released a few hours after a massive missile strike on the Zionist regime, the IRGC said on Tuesday night that “strategic centers” inside the occupied territories have been targeted by the Iranian homegrown missiles.

It said a number of Israeli air and radar bases and the centers involved in plotting assassination attacks on the leaders of resistance, specifically on Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, Lebanese Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, and the military commanders of Hezbollah, the IRGC and the Islamic Resistance of Palestine have been hit in the operation True Promise 2.

Despite the fact that the target zone was being protected with a large number of the most advanced air defense systems, 90 percent of the projectiles have successfully hit the targets, the IRGC said, noting that the Zionist regime has been traumatized by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s intelligence and operational dominance.

The statement finally reiterated that Iran has carried out the retaliatory operation within the framework of its legitimate right to self-defense and in accordance with the international law, warning the enemy that any stupidity will trigger Iran’s devastating response in such a way that it will make the Israeli regime regret.

The commander noted that Jask-II has a longer range than its previous models.

Missiles fired from the surface could be diverted by the enemy, but Jask-II is launched by a submarine that travels where the enemy does not expect at all, he added.

Commander Mousavi stressed that Iran’s Air Defense Force has made great achievements in the post-revolution era, especially after establishment of the Air Defense Base in 2008, IRNA reported on Monday.

Iran’s Air Defense Base is a military branch split from Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force that controls Iran’s military land-based air defense.

Touring different parts of the base in Tehran, Major General Mousavi exchanged views with Commander of Army Air Defense Force Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi-ard and his accompanying commanders.

He stressed the need for more cooperation between the armed forces in defending the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that Iran’s air defense has a high capability in the region.

Commander Mousavi also hailed efforts made by air defense experts who have worked “to defend our beloved country.”

Earlier in the day, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei praised the Iranian Air Defense Force for its contribution to national security saying, Iran “owes its security to Air Defense preparedness and wakefulness.”

In a message on the occasion of the national Air Defense Day, the Leader said, “Send my regards to the vigilant staff of the country’s Air Defense. The country owes its security to Air Defense’s mobility and wariness. Our pious people are grateful for your unwavering efforts. Be appreciative of this.”

Ayatollah Khamenei’s message was conveyed to the Air Defense personnel by Head of the Leader’s military office Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi.

He conveyed the message in a telephone conversation to Commander Sabahi-Fard on Monday.

Iran Navy Successfully Test-Fires New-Generation Cruise Missiles

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – Iran’s naval forces have successfully tested new-generation cruise missiles — designed and developed by experts at home — during military drills in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean.

During the maneuvers on Thursday, the long-range and short-range missiles were successfully fired from the coast and from decks of ships, hitting the designated targets with high accuracy.

The long-range missiles destroyed their targets at a range of 280 kilometers.

The coast-to-sea and sea-to-sea missiles were produced by experts at Iran’s Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Navy, according to the report.

At the end of the maneuvers, Deputy Chief of Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari described the successful launch of new cruise missiles as a promising step toward further upliftment of the country’s defense and deterrence power.

He added that Iran will continue to march toward self-sufficiency and becoming needless of foreign military equipment despite brutal sanctions imposed on the country, adding that “successful test-firing of long-range missiles is a sign of remarkable progress in boosting synergy between the armed forces and defense industries.”

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi also noted that production of new home-grown missiles by the Iranian experts will better equip the Islamic Republic to handle any threat against the Islamic establishment and the Iranian people while strengthening a sense of self-reliance in the Iranian Armed Forces.

The long-range naval cruise missiles hit the targets at a distance of 280 kilometers. The range of the new homegrown missiles may be extended.

A variety of coast-to-sea and sea-to-sea missiles with short and long ranges were fired simultaneously from the coastal launchers and the deck of naval vessels, and they could successfully detonate the targets with great accuracy.

The Thursday war game was held on the fortieth day after the martyrdom of a number of Navy forces in an incident involving the Konarak vessel.

Nineteen Navy servicemen were martyred and 15 others injured in the accident on May 10 when a number of vessels were carrying a naval training exercise off the coasts of Jask and Chabahar in the Sea of Oman.

According To Iran News, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force said Iran has acquired the know-how to guide solid-propellant missiles outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps on Sunday unveiled a new missile with a composite engine as well as the new generation of engines for propelling missiles and satellite carriers.

Speaking to reporters at the unveiling ceremony, IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the moving nozzle technology used in the new engines has enabled Iran to guide the solid-propellant missiles outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

He explained that the new technology allows for the navigation of spacecraft, satellite carriers and anti-air defense missiles in the outer space.

The commander also highlighted the advantages of composite materials, saying the greatest lateral acceleration that a projectile needs to withstand is in the launch of air defense missiles, noting that the new composite bodies developed by Iran could be employed not only in surface-to-surface missiles, but also air defense missiles.

The IRGC has inaugurated an assembly line producing “Ra’ad-500” (thunder-500) missiles equipped with an advanced composite engine dubbed “Zohair”.

The new Iranian missile enjoys an engine made up of carbon fiber composites, which enable the engine’s shield to withstand pressures up to 100 bars and temperatures as high as 3,000 degrees Celsius and also reduce the total weight of the missile dramatically.

Thanks to the composite materials, the weight of Ra’ad-500 has been reduced by half in comparison with the Fateh-110 missile that has a metal body, but its range has been extended by 200 kilometers.

The employment of two technologies, namely the composite engine shield and the moving nozzle, have allowed for the use of solid propellant engines outside the atmosphere.

The new achievement enables Iran to manufacture light satellite carriers with solid propellant, produce surface-to-surface missiles with a small radar cross-sectional area, enhance the maneuverability of missiles to defeat missile defense systems, and reduce the costs and complexity of production of missiles.

At the dead of the night the IRGC rained surface-to surface ballistic missiles on the positions of Daesh in eastern Syria which along with the al-Ahwazia terror group took responsibility for the September 22 terrorist attack in Ahvaz.

The missiles were fired at 02:00 on Monday (22:30 GMT on Sunday). They were launched from Kermanshah, western Iran.

The missiles targeted the masterminds of Daesh on the eastern banks of the Euphrates north of Albu Kamal in eastern Syria. The district is one of last remaining positions of Daesh.

The missiles travelled a distance of 570km (354 miles).

A Syrian opposition group confirmed it had received reports of violent explosions at dawn in a pocket of territory controlled by Daesh, BBC reported. The group said it believed missiles had hit the headquarters of Daesh in the Hajin area.

It is estimated that there were between 1,500 and 2,000 militants in the area.

Col. Sean Ryan, the spokesperson for the U.S. forces in Syria, confirmed the strike but said no U.S. forces “were in danger”.

“Security of the Iranian people is the Armed Forces’ redline and the Guards spares no efforts in maintaining peace and security,” the IRGC said in a statement.

“Our iron fist is prepared to deliver a decisive and crushing response to any wickedness and mischief of the enemies,” the statement added.

Drones also bombarded Daesh positions after the strike, according to the IRGC.

It was the first drone attacks outside Iran by the IRGC.

“According to the received information and precise reports, a number of heads and influential elements of the terrorists were killed or injured in the operation and also their ammunition depot was destroyed,” the statement said.

On September 22, four gunmen attacked a military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan province, killing 24 people and wounding 69 others. A four-year-old child was among the killed.

The separatist al-Ahwazia group issued a report giving details about one of the attackers. Daesh also took responsibility for the shooting and published a video showing three of the gunmen being driven to the military parade in a car.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said, “The terrorists used bullets in the Ahvaz attack but we responded them by missiles.”

Hajizadeh added that the operation was a hard revenge against the terrorists who were supported by the U.S. and certain Arab countries in the region.

Iran has accused Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates of training and funding the al-Ahwazia group.

General Hajizadeh said Iran will continue fight against terrorism by the time the phenomenon is annihilated completely.

Mahmoud Mirlohi, a pro-reform political activist and a member of the Tehran City Council, called the missile attack “essential” and “valuable”. He said that fighting terrorists should be continued powerfully.

Mohammad Atrianfar, a pro-reform political activist, also praised the missile attack as a deterrent action which will bring “valuable results”.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy army chief for coordination affairs, said, “The enemies should be aware that all the Iranian people are determined in defending their country and respond to any threat.”

It is the second time that Iran is targeting Daesh positions inside Syria. In June 2017, the IRGC fired missiles at Daesh after the group carried out an attack on the Majlis (parliament) in Tehran and the shrine of Imam Khomeini.

The comments from Defense Minister Mihai Fifor came after Romania’s Senate’s defense committee on Monday formally approved the acquisition of the missiles, which then needs to be approved by the Senate, AP reported.

Romania’s Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu also confirmed Monday that he told US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who was briefly in Romania last week, that the Senate may approve the acquisition this week.

The purchase is part of Romania’s strategic partnership with the US and its long-term defense strategy.

Fifor said the missiles would become operational by 2020.
