Iran’s military action done last night

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Noting that pushing the US troops out of the region will not be done only relying on military moves, Iranian FM Zarif said: “Iran’s military action against the US was the one took last night.”

Congratulating IRGC for targeting US bases in Iraq, “the American military based were not considered legal anymore after the Iraqi Parliament’s vote for a resolution requiring the government to order the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.”

Zarif added that it would be reasonable for the US to avert further strategic damages, if not the required response will be made by the Iranian nation who took part in funeral processions of Lt. Gen. Soleimani.

He also rejected any plans for holding mutual talks with the US.

Zarif added that in his phone conversations with his British and German counterparts he has announced Iran’s dissatisfaction with the two countries’ support for the US terrorist measures.

“Regional countries are really worried about the hostile adventures of the US,” he added.

“Despite the US who is a warmonger, Iran seeks peace,” Zarif said.

“Of course, the US has put an end into its presence in the region,” he said, “These are their last days in the region and there will be no future for them.”

Answering a question on the possibility of any further military actions against the US, Zarif said, “the decision is not mine. The Islamic Republic has announced that it will give a harsh response if the US does any foolish thing.”

He added that he is not informed of the number of the death toll of ‘Shahid Soleimani Operation’.

Zarif added that Iran immediately transmitted the required messages to the US via the Switzerland embassy after IRGC operation showing Iran’s military action.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasizes retaliation against US

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said Iran’s early morning retaliation against the US assassination of Gen. Qassem Soleimani was just “a slap”.

“A slap was delivered last night, but what is important is that the seditious presence of America in the region should be ended,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on Wednesday.

The Leader’s remarks, broadcast live on national television, came hours after Iran’s retaliation against the US assassination of the Middle East’s most prominent anti-terror commander and his Iraqi trench mate Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran is quite equipped in the face of global bullying powers and retaliation.

The Leader hailed the Iraqi parliament’s decision ordering US troops to leave the country as well as the Iranian parliament’s blacklisting of American forces as terrorists.

“The Americans want Iraq to be like the former idolatrous regime in Iran or Saudi Arabia today – a region full of oil to be under their control so they can do whatever they want – a milking cow in the words of that individual,” he said in reference to US President Donald Trump.

“But the faithful elements and the Iraqi youth and their Marja’iya (religious authorities) stood up to these scenarios, and Haj Qassem assisted this vast front as an active adviser and an honorable supporter,” the Leader added.

The US, Ayatollah Khamenei said, has similar plans for Lebanon. “The Americans are willing to clear Lebanon of the most important factor of independence which is the resistance so that they cannot resist.”

Ain al-Assad: of oldest, biggest US bases in Iraq

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Ain al-Assad airbase in Iraq — situated in Iraq’s western Anbar Province — has long been housing American forces. It has been the target of missile strikes launched by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in retaliation for the US assassination of senior Iranian commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Ain al-Assad is one of the largest and oldest military facilities in Iraq.

It was built in the 1980s for the Iraqi military in the desert around 160 kilometers west of Baghdad.

After the US invasion in 2003, the airbase became one of the biggest bases for American troops.

Aside from US and Iraqi forces, the airbase has also hosted US-led coalition partners Denmark and Britain.

In December 2018, US President Donald Trump visited al-Assad secretly and briefly, sparking a wave of condemnations from Iraqi officials, with some of them demanding the expulsion of American forces.

During the trip, Trump acknowledged the security concerns about visiting Iraq, saying it was “pretty sad” that he needed such secrecy to see US troops.

“Pretty sad when you spend $7 trillion in the Middle East, and going in has to be under this massive cover with planes all over and all of the greatest equipment in the world and you do everything to get in safely,” he said.

In December 2019, US Vice President Mike Pence visited al-Assad to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Missile attack On US forces enjoys strategic importance

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Brigadier General Yadollah Javani said the missile attack targeted on Ain al-Assad airbase enjoys strategic significance for this base is where the US army forces employing operations and flights in the region.

In an interview with MNA, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps for Political Affairs said the IRGC missile attack on the US army forces in the airbase was what the IRGC had promised to the Iranian nation.

He added that Iran’s missile attacks have strategic importance due to the important role of the Ain al-Assad airbase in the US terrorist army’s regional operations.

Javani also said the Americans perhaps didn’t expect Iran’s retaliatory response.

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi, in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, described US threats against the Islamic Republic as a serious danger to global peace and security and said Tehran reserves the right to self-defense.

In the letter released on Wednesday, the Iranian ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi deplored the US government’s repeated threats which are indicating the of using force against the Islamic Republic in the aftermath of Washington’s assassination of senior Iranian commander, General Qassem Soleimani.
