Intelligence forces dismantle drug trafficking band in Kerman

Hamed Omrani, the attorney general of Roudbar country in Kerman province, said on Tuesday that in a complex operation, forces of the Intelligence Ministry have managed to dismantle a drug trafficking band. He added that one of the smugglers has been killed during the armed conflict on Monday night while one other being arrested.

He also said that some 500 kg of opium, along with two vehicles were also seized in the operation.

Located near Afghanistan which is one of the main sources of opium production in the world, Iran is on the frontline of the fight against drug trafficking. Iran has lost many forces during this fight. Tehran has always asked for international help in such operations, noting that the other countries, especially European states, should take responsibility and play a positive role in this fight or face its threats themselves.

Another heavy blow to US: Iran indentifies 17 CIA spies

The director-general of the counterespionage department of the Intelligence Ministry broke the news on Monday, saying the Islamic Republic has busted 17 spies for collaborating with the US Central Intelligence Service (CIA).

He said the sentences on the accused have been passed, and some of them will be executed for ‘fasad-fel-arz’ – a title for capital crimes in the Islamic Republic described as spreading corruption on Earth or spreading corruption that threatens social and political well-being.

The news follows Tehran’s announcement on June 17 that the country had dismantled a CIA-run “large US cyber-espionage” network.

According to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, the cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries has led to “the disclosure and dismantling of a network of CIA officers, as well as the detention and punishment of several spies.”

Intelligence forces disband gun-smuggling ring in N Iran

According to the Intelligence Ministry’s provincial office, the operation against the biggest gun-smuggling ring in Golestan was launched after weeks of constant intelligence and security activities.

The forces seized 191 illegal weapons and arrested four people in the operation.

Iran’s Revolution Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had called for a tougher fight against gun-smuggling gangs. In a meeting with Police commanders of the country in late April, he referred to ‘the prohibition of arms trade’ as another important duty to be fulfilled by the Police Forces and stated “in some countries like the United States, the sale and purchase of weapons are allowed due to the profit arm manufacturers win; nevertheless, it causes problems for the people. In our country, however, this is not allowed and the prohibition must be enforced.”

Foreign, intelligence ministries need to pursue issues of Iranians’ traveling to Georgia

Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said Sun. that Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Ministry need to take into account the issue of mistreatment and disrespect against Iranian tourists traveling to Georgia.

With regard to mistreatment of Tbilisi airport’s authorities towards Iranian nationals in the South Caucasian country, Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament, said on Sunday that “what one should remember about this case is that some mercenary Iranians benefit from selling out the dignity of their fellow Iranians and compatriots in Georgia, and this is something that is not being taken into account.”

Falahatpisheh continued to lash out at Iranian nationals who work with foreign countries against Iran outside the country and tarnish the reputation of their fellow Iranians.

“What happened in Dubai to Iranian nationals in the past is being repeated in Georgia, and even in some other European countries such as Serbia, where nationals were offered visa cancellation,” the senior lawmaker added.

He pointed out that the disrespect for Iranian tourists in Georgia is a subject which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Intelligence should enter.

It is noteworthy that a group of Iranians that had been deported by Georgia held a rally outside its embassy in Tehran to protest the Georgian authorities and held talks with the country’s ambassador.
