“The military presence of Turkey in the (Persian) Gulf is an emergency… It reinforces polarization, and it does not take into account the sovereignty of states and the interests of the (Persian) Gulf countries and its peoples,” Anwar Gargash tweeted on Saturday.

Commenting on a statement made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his recent visit to Qatar, Gargash said that Turkey’s army is not working toward stability in the region as its president said.

“The statement of the Turkish president during his visit to Qatar, in which he indicates that his army is working toward the stability of all (Persian) Gulf states, is inconsistent with Turkey’s regional role, and the evidence (for this) is numerous,” the minister said.

Gargash added that the statement is an attempt to divert attention away from the economic reasons for the president’s visit.

Erdogan visited Qatar on Wednesday and met with the country’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

SANA reported that citizens of Kashkash, Jabor Villages ,Jelal sharki and residents around them gathered in the main street of the city of Al-Shadadi in the south countryside of Hasakah to condemn and protest the crimes of the Kurdish SDF forces after demolishing their homes and sabotaging their agricultural lands with the support of the US occupation forces.

Protesters also burned tires and cut off a number of main streets in the city and shouted slogans against the SDF militia and US forces, demanding compensation for the damages they have inflicted on the residents.

In June, the US enforced new sanctions on Syria under the Caesar Act, which is said to aim at increasing the pressure on the Syrian government to halt alleged attacks on civilians.

The act is set to punish anyone who provides support to, or deals with, the Syrian government or any of the entities it owns or controls.

The measures focus on three major sectors: the military, oil and gas, as well as reconstruction in the Syrian government-controlled areas. It also opens the door to sanctions on the Central Bank of Syria.

The individual, whose service branch hasn’t been released yet, was assigned to the Operation Inherent Resolve coalition.

“Initial reports indicate the incident was not due to enemy contact,” reads a brief Inherent Resolve press release sent Tuesday afternoon, Army Times reported.

“The incident is under investigation.”

The individual’s identity will be released after their next of kin have been notified, Inherent Resolve officials stated.

There have been four hostile deaths and five non-combat deaths under the Inherent Resolve mission this year. All of the combat deaths have been in Iraq.

An airman and a soldier were killed in mid-March during a rocket attack on Camp Taji. Prior to that, two Marine Raiders were killed in Iraq’s southern Makhmur Mountains.

Nearly 150 US service members have been wounded in action this year, as well. One Marine, 10 airmen and 138 soldiers have been wounded in combat in 2020, according to Pentagon data.

According to Reuters, Donald Trump made the remarks during an interview with CBS’ “Face the Nation” program on Saunday.

“One of the reasons I want to keep it is because I want to be looking a little bit at Iran because Iran is a real problem,” he said.

Meanwhile, Trump lamented ‘endless wars’ in Syria and Afghanistan and made clear he wants to reduce the costly US military presence in those countries despite warnings against such moves from his military advisers and spy chiefs.

The United States could rely heavily on intelligence work in Afghanistan, he said, and respond to developments in Syria from US bases in neighboring Iraq.

The US president also claimed that his country has spent a ‘fortune’ on the Al Asad Air Base in western Iraq, which he visited in December, and that the United States should hold on to it.

Reuters added that when asked if he wanted to be able to strike against Iran, Trump said “no, because I want to be able to watch Iran. All I want to do is be able to watch.”

With regard to Syria, he, however, defended his decision in December to withdraw troops there but refused to provide a timetable for the pullout.
