Iranian karatekas bag colorful medals at Kyokushin Oyama Karate C’ships

Iranian karatekas bagged gold, silver and bronze medals at International Kyokushin Oyama Karate Championships held in Kiev, Ukraine, on October 27.

More than 300 karatekas from 10 countries participated in various competitions of the event; six karatekas represented Iran in this tournament; Edris Mahmoudzadeh and Omid Gol Cheshmeh won the gold medal, Mohammad Rahimifar snatched the silver, and Shahrokh Yazdani, Ahmad Sheikh Hosseini and Mohammad Mosaferfard won bronze medal.

Led by Mahyar Ziaei, Iranian team attended the tournament that was supported by Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

Loghman Mahmoudi was also invited to Ukraine to judge the competitions at the invitation of the Kyokushin International Karate Federation.

A number of athletes from Ukraine, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Sweden, Greece, Pakistan, Morocco and Moldova competed at the international tournament.

Iranian goalball teams win gold, bronze medals

Iran’s men’s goalball team defeated China 8-3 in the final game of the third edition of the Asian Para Games on Friday.

Iran defended their gold medal in Jakarta after they pummeled China 10-0 in Incheon, South Korea.

South Korea won the bronze medal, beating Japan 8-3.

Earlier on the day, Iran’s women’s team had claimed a bronze medal in the Games.

Iran beat Thailand 4-3 in the bronze medal match.

Japan’s women team earned gold medal by beating China 5-3 in the final match.

Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants compete in teams of three, and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents’ goal.

Leader admires performance of Iranian athletes in 2018 Asian Games

The Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a message on Sunday, appreciating the efforts of Iranian medalists in 2018 Asian Games held in Indonesia.

Addressing the medalists of Iran in this edition of Asian Games, the leader writes, “I congratulate all of you and appreciate your efforts.”

“You made Iranian people happy and brought glory to our proud flag,” he adds.

The 18th edition of 2018 Asian Games officially kicked off on August 18 in Indonesia cities of Jakarta and Palembang and closed on Sunday. Gaining a total of 62 medals (including 20 gold, 20 silver and 22 bronze medals) Iran finished the Asiad with the 6th rank. China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Uzbekistan topped the medals table ranking.
